Synopsis
"Welcome to the Lunacy, humanity's craziest, most abitious project," is what you'd hear when you step aboard the massive colony ship en-route to establish the first of many settlements outside the Solar System. It sounded exaggerated, as if attempting to come off exciting and inspirational for those that had boarded it; and for those back at home, seeing their loved ones off.
And, yeah, it was a little corny, but that didn't make it any less wrong.
Follow Thomas-- a young erudite recently turned famous (against his will, he'd tell you,) for creating the first fully sentient example of AI, now installed on board of the ship's systems-- in his new position of the Lunacy's "Head of 'Health and Development,'" as he investigates and uncovers a troubling, unintelligble catastrophe that will soon befall the ship. What seems like an unwinnable race against time could be avoided, if his 'artificial' companion has the processing power to spare...
