Chapter 3

they weren’t hands anymore. She didn’t know really how to describe them. They looked like cat’s paws. She had paws! The center of her paw was round and she had five other round spots where here fingers used to be and she had sharp protruding claws. She felt like Wolverine from the X-Men for a moment. If she had been transformed into something. Surely, her brother had been too.

Jasmine began to look around and scan the area. “Bobby?” She called, there was no answer. He had to be around here somewhere. She sworn she had just seen him. He had been the first one to stand up when they had landed in this place. Where were they and what was the deal with the area. She began to walk around and then she spotted her brother. He was standing by a sign that had been stuck in the ground. She looked at with utter confusion. “Darkcrest, huh? That sounds ominous.” It did sound dark and creepy. So apparently you could get to this city by going right at the sign and walking for four miles. Who wanted to walk? She didn’t want to walk. She has done enough walking for one day. This place seemed oddly familiar, like she has seen it before. Maybe in a video game of some sorts or on a website that was advertising video games. She looked over at her brother who was staring off into the distance with a very serious look on his face. Oh yeah, he brother had been turned into a big black bear. Kinda fitting, they were both from Maine and black bears were strong and she was a cat, a lousy fucking cat.

Jasmine looked over to Bobby. “So what do we do?”

Bobby broke his concentration on whatever he was thinking about and shrug. “I don’t know. Follow the sign.” Yeah, good idea. You’re in a new world you don’t know what’s out there and you suggest ‘follow the sign’ you were probably going to get yourself and your sister killed. You were a huge black bear, so why not. Whatever was out there was probably smaller and weaker than you. He wondered if they had any cool abilities. That would be awesome and he knew there were bad guys out there and they probably had to take them down. They could be the heroes of this story. A smirk came over his face.

Bobby looked over to Jasmine. “You know this might be a dream. We are probably knocked out laying on the floor and just waiting to wake up.” In truth, he was lying. He wanted to make Jasmine feel better, so he lied. He didn’t want his sister to worry about what was happening to them. This was like all the comic books he had read as a child, before Jasmine had been born. Some nerd gets sucked into another world and he or they become it’s savior. With a name like Darkcrest, he was expecting something out of either a horror movie or a fantasy novel. Maybe both.

Bobby balled up his paw and then punched the air and when he did, he could hear a crack like he had hit something solid. He noticed what looked like an air slice come from his paw. That was different. Could this be his attack? He looked over at Jasmine and nodded. This was him telling her to try and use an attack or something. She nodded back and concentrated and she did a double slash scratch attack. Jasmine’s eyes went wide with amazement and excitement. She was a cat, so of course she had some sort of double slash attack. She kinda thought of herself as that cat digimon. Her name wasn’t coming to her right now. She felt powerful and then she got a feeling of dread. She looked up to the sky and she saw a few drones flying over head, they looked like giant bird robots. She blinked and looked over at her brother.

Bobby nodded. “I see them too, you can hide. If I move they will see me and probably attack.” This would be a perfect time to test out his new attack! You find out you have a powerful attack and now you have to go and fight the bad guys. This was typical video game bullshit. He had no real proof they were in a video game. He just kinda assumed they were, because they were transported here after he put the game in. That was the only thing that really made sense right now. He wondered if his sister was actually going to listen to him this time. Ever since they were kids she sorta like never listened to him. Especially when he was right. She nodded her head as she looked at her brother. She found a bush to hide in.

He wasn’t worrying about anything right now and as he looked up at the sky at one of the drones. One started coming speeding at his head. It was coming real fast, his eyes were locked on the drone and he kinda shrugged before punching the drone and when his bear-paw-fist hit the drone it shattered into a million pieces. He blinked. “That was kind of easy.” With the destruction of that single drone, others in the area were alerted to it’s destruction and they were called to the area. He saw the swarm and he swallowed hard. Maybe this hadn’t been a great idea, maybe he should of ran. Nah, he was going to stand his ground. The swarm had surrounded him and all of the drones had opened up their mechanical beaks and fired a barrage of laser shots towards Bobby. Okay, this was going to hurt. He raised his paw and swatted away the laser shots. He then decided it would be a good idea to climb a tree to get on the drones level. He jumped on each of the drones, smashing each one individually. He watched each one crash to the ground as he landed on the ground When he landed on the ground he made a giant thud and the ground had shook for a moment or two. He dusted himself off, they really needed to haul ass. There would probably be more drones coming too.
