Jay awoke in a glistening room, his consciousness still clutched by the events of the past. A strangely clear voice pierced the silence. "Welcome Jay Miller, please choose your class to begin the tutorial; if no class is chosen, your performance in the tutorial will determine your class."
Jay tried to get his bearings but his memories were still hazy and incomplete. He felt something was different, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Before he had a chance to look around, a message appeared before his inner eye:
*************************************************************************************************
System message
Please choose one of the following classes to start the tutorial:
* Warrior: Main attributes Strength, Vitality and Endurance
[The first to enter battle and the last to stand victorious on the battlefield. They form the first line of defense and face death]
* Scout: Main attributes Perception, Agility and Dexterity
[Masters of stealth who scout the terrain and strike invisibly. From the shadows of the battlefield, they rain death on their opponents]
* Mage: Main attributes Intelligence and Wisdom
[Masters who bend the boundaries of reality with their powerful magic. With deadly precession, they keep their harvest on the battlefield]
* Healer: Main attributes Intelligence and Wisdom
[Guardian of life, keeper of balance and glimmer of hope]

Before Jay could get to grips with the different classes, countless messages were played out in front of his inner eye. They ran through his mind like a rapid flood, making him dizzy. If he wasn't already lying on the floor, this flood of information would surely have knocked him out.
Before he could gather himself properly, the moment passed as quickly as it had come. What remained was a panting Jay lying on the floor. When he finally had the chance to inspect the room he was in, he had dozens of questions. First and foremost, he wondered what the hell was going on here.
Jay found himself in a small, light-flooded room with no windows. A metal table stood in the middle, surrounded by two chairs facing each other. At first, he had assumed he was in hospital after the numerous injuries Marc and his group had inflicted on him.
Wait a minute... Injuries...? Then where's the pain? Jay quickly scanned his body and face. His ribs no longer seemed to hurt and his face felt normal again.
Before Jay could think any more about his circumstances, a projection flickered to life on one of the two chairs. The holographic figure smiled kindly at him and began to take the form of a girl his age before his eyes.
She had dark hair and was very pretty. "I'm Aria," she introduced herself. "Nice to see you've finally woken up." Jay stared at Aria, stunned, still in awe of the transformation he had just experienced. "What... What's going on? Where am I?" he asked her.
"You are in the preparation room for the tutorial. Please review all system notifications before we continue here. When you think of notification, your notification history should open," Aria explained to him in a calm voice.
Jay followed Aria's instructions and when he thought of notification, a menu with countless notifications opened. At the top was the global system notification saying that Earth was to be integrated somewhere and that everyone would have to go to a tutorial.
While he was about to lose consciousness, he vaguely remembered receiving this message. Below it were notifications telling him that he should choose a class, otherwise he would have to earn a class in the tutorial.
Jay scrolled through the messages, but there was no more new information. The last message he had received repeated endlessly. The time stamp between the first and last message indicated that these messages were spread over a period of three months.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Aria watched Jay carefully and could literally sense his confusion. "Yes, it's true, you've been lying here for about three months," she confirmed Jay's suspicion, as if she had been following his train of thought.
Three months? He had spent three months motionless in this room while the world outside was changing? Where were the others? Were they in similar rooms? Had they already started the tutorial, or had it perhaps already been completed?
The longer Jay thought, the more questions popped into his head. Taking a few deep breaths, he tried to calm himself down and when he finally succeeded, he looked over at Aria. "What's next for me?" he asked her.
"The next step for you is to choose a class, I think you've procrastinated long enough," Aria said, looking at him mischievously.
"But think about your decision carefully. Once you have chosen a class, it cannot be changed. It is possible to specialize later on, but the basic essence of your initial class remains the same. That's why it's so important to make the choice that suits you best right from the start."
With a wave of her hand, his character sheet rolled up before Jay's eyes.

It was like one of the many videogames Jay had played. There were attributes, his stats and skills, which were further divided into general and class skills.
His whole life was condensed into a few lines of text. Since there wasn't much information on his character sheet yet, Jay first compared his attributes with his stats.
It seemed as if an attribute in vitality was equivalent to 10 health points. It was the same with endurance and stamina points. Mana points were dependent on the intelligence attribute in the same ratio.
The regeneration of health and stamina points was based on the same values, whereby the ratio was only 1 to 0.1. The regeneration of mana points, on the other hand, depended on the wisdom value, with the ratio being the same as the other regenerations.
When looking at his attributes, it was clear which class suited his strengths. All the main attributes of the scout class were his highest attributes.
Nevertheless, he couldn't help but take a furtive glance at his intelligence score. Even if it was sufficient in itself, it was not enough to compensate for his miserable wisdom score. If the wisdom score had been just slightly higher, he could have seriously considered becoming a mage.
The warrior class was consistently worse for him than the scout class. Nor was there anything really appealing about the description "facing death".
With a sigh, Jay made his decision and chose the scout class.

Oh no... Something had gone wrong. Not only could he not choose a class, but the difficulty of the tutorial was also increased. Couldn't the system have adjusted the difficulty and kept the rewards the same? Before Jay could turn to Aria to try and cancel the tutorial introduction, the next notification appeared.

Jay was surrounded by a bright light and the next moment he was gone from the small room he had spent the last three months in.
