Everything went dark and then just like that it was filled with bright red and yellow lights blinking. It was so confusing, overwhelming, and loud! It needed to STOP!
And just like that it did. The red and yellow lights were still there but it was like it was muted instead of overwhelming. I sat in a dark room and in front of me was an image of myself. A lot like the one Grace was showing to everyone. I was there in 3D but translucent with red and yellow blinking spots all over my body highlighting different areas. It was fascinating to see.
*WARNING body is malnourished! Body enhancements program will be in hibernation until nutrients requirements have been met!*
This message appeared as a big red box glowing over my body. Confusion set in as this had to be a dream. I mean I have never heard of something like this before. Where someone could see themselves like this. I had so many questions. How could this be? What does this mean if it's true? Does this have to do with where I came from? That would make sense. Also what would happen if I started getting the correct amount of nutrients?
Just like that I was back in the medical bay with Stella and Grace.
"Did you see that!" Grace exclaimed pointing at the image of my brain on the screen.
"I think so." Stella said, a little confused. "It looked like there was a small bright blip there for just a second."
Stella and Grace both turned to look at me.
"Don't look at me. I have less of an idea than any of you." I was nervous to tell them the truth of what just happened to me."All I know is that this shake isn't as tasty but it does make me feel a lot better. Like when you step into a room with the AC running after being out in the sun. You forgot your body was so hot and that blast of cool air hits you and you instantly start feeling better."
"Stella, there is a local police detachment on their way here,” Gerald said, cutting off our conversation. “I count twenty individuals in five transport vehicles.I have also intercepted messages from the group to orbit control. I believe they know we have a ship. I have taken the liberty of delaying their responses but it will make it through."
Watching the demeanor change in these two was amazing. Here we were just having a chat about my unique body, but it was still light and joyful. To what I can only describe as laser focus. It made me really appreciate the company I was in. For when it came down to protecting the ship and its crew these two were all business.
In that instant Grace disconnected herself from her console and looked at Stella.
"Gerald emergency protocol for immediate take off and run silent. Grace, I need you to make sure Elly is secure. Looks like you are stuck with us for a bit." Stella didn't even look over at me as she made her way out of the medical bay. She didn't run but walked purposefully down the hallway as Grace and I trailed her.
Quickly Stella was met by Veras and Milly. "Emergency take off is a go. Quickly double check cargo and be back on the bridge in six." The two quickly peeled back off without any hesitation.
We made a couple of more turns and then two big double doors made of a heavy duty metal slid open soundlessly. They revealed what I can only assume was the bridge. It was a room about forty by fifty feet. The room slanted down as you came and created four levels. Each level going down had two sets of consoles and the last had only one. On the second level there was a big chair overlooking everything in front of it.
Arex was already at one of the third level consoles and didn't even react when we came in."Gerald has informed me that you have approved for emergency take off and that orbital control is being notified of us and to deny our leave. Our shields are at a hundred percent readiness, laser array is also at hundred percent readiness, and I have the loader droids on standby for the torpedo."
Stella just nodded and she went to the big chair which I was now assuming was the captain's chair and pressed a couple of buttons. The far end wall that had been painted a dark red color like the rest of the walls now displayed an aerial shot of our current location with the group of police almost here.

Grace had taken me to the far left wall and pulled on a panel that turned into a seat in the wall. It was in no way big or comfortable looking but it had a pair of harnesses that she helped me get into before going to her console.
Jazmine came in next, striding in business like to the very front console. "Gerald has confirmed we can take off as of now. I just need the go ahead and we can be on our way."
"Police are broadcasting a message Stella. Would you like me to put it on the screen?" Grace said, looking over her shoulder.
"Yea lets see what they are saying and maybe that can buy us some time." Stella replied as Grace split the wall in front of us and an image of Captain Star Wood appeared in front of us.
"To the thieves in the cloaked ship. Know that orbital control has been directed to deny your take off and should you try to flee they have been ordered to shoot you down. This will be your last warning. Decloak your ship at once and be prepared to be boarded."
"What is in those cargo containers! We have never had this much heat from this planet before." Stella said, frustrated.
"Should we respond?" Grace asked.
"No. I think he has made it clear what the intentions are. Jazmine start emergency lift off as soon as you are able. Arex, how much heat are we going to take from orbital control?"
"They don't have anything that should be able to really stop us. Especially if we move fast as it seems their systems were completely powered down. They are now just trying to bring them up. We should have a couple of minutes before they are even at fifty percent."
Just then the two came hurriedly in from checking cargo. "Everything is secure, we should be good to go." Milly stated as both her and Veras took their spots.
Jazmine didn't even wait for Stella to give the command as she worked her console and I could feel the ship start to move.
"Grace broadcast to orbital control." Without missing a beat Grace nodded and Stella continued. ''Orbital control I would advise you not to try and stop us as we know you are not even to fifty percent yet and my ship has our laser array and torpedoes ready to strike. Stand down and you all can go see your families tonight."
Just then Captain Star Wood appeared on the screen. "To those in the fleeing ship. Know that the Dokkal Corporation will stop at nothing to get back what it is you have stolen. I will give you one last warning before you are open fired on. Where the sun shines we bring to heal those beneath us."
"Great not only is he an elf, he is also a damned Dokkal Corp lacky as well. This simple job is really turning into a cluster." Stella said angrily.
Arex whipped around, a look of panic on his face."Dokkal Battle Cruiser just exited hyper space! We will have just moments before it can lock on."
"Shit! Jazmine set a course for hideout Cappa. Helm is at your discretion to get us out of here!"
Jazmine didn't even respond as the normal cool and collected warren went to her work. The composed business woman who seemed cold and calculating didn't break a sweat as she went to work on her console.
"We are out of the upper atmosphere. Changing our course now to get us out of here."
Captain Star Wood was still on the screen and I saw a cold smile appear on his face. It sent chills down my spine as I knew something was wrong.
"Fucking Galaxies! Their lasers are already charged. They are trying to lock on." Everyone but Stella and Jazmine looked directly at Arex after that statement. Somehow the Dokkal ship had known to come in hot and had been prepared for this. That left more questions than answers. How could they have had such advanced warnings about what was going on?
"My pretty ass is too good for these Dokkal scum. We are out of here." came the confident voice of Jazmine as she turned around with a smile on her face.
Being the first time I have been in space let alone traveling through hyperspace let me tell you something. It is not a fun experience. First it feels like the world slows down around you. Which in itself is kind of cool to be honest. It is then followed on by your stomach trying to do backflips while trying to escape! My eyes went blurry and I turned my head and shamefully threw up some of my last nutrient shake.
*Red Lights Blared!!!*
"Fuck! They got two hits off. That pretty ass wasn't fast enough." Came from the Arex as he smiled over at Jazmine.
"Veras status?" Came the panicked voice from Stella.
"Give me a second. Damn they were fast. I thought I was clean and clear." Everyone was silent as she worked. "Warp drive is still at seventy five percent. That shot was a direct hit on our drive with no warning. If they got another shot off we might have been too crippled to make a true jump into hyperspace."
You could tell the whole crew was taking that in as an unease filled the bridge.
"That is troubling. It seems they knew exactly where to target to have the highest chance of crippling us. How could they have known?"
