"Alright here we are back at my desk" , Alex thought to himself. He then proceeded to plop down on his worn faux leather chair, government issue, and checks his emails.
5 new mails huh, gonna be an exciting day haha he chuckles to himself while quickly answering them. Where he works at in small town in rural Alabama. There's hardly nothing for him today day in and day out he's mainly there because his company has to have to have someone with his clearance employed to keep there contract. I spent 6 year in college and 6 years in the military to sit at desk and day dream all day. I guess some would say I have it good I dont work hard and I definitely dont struggle but its human nature I suppose to always want more. My wants will just never happen. But what is a man without his dreams. He thinks this last thought as he drifts into one his classic day dreams related to the xanxia novel he is currently reading.
As he imagines himself flying on swords and cultivating pinnacle techniques from ancient sects that gave him super powers. An alarm goes off on his computer. Oh quickest 4 hours in a while he then proceeded to lock his computer, grab his smart card and walk out of the secured area making sure to grab his phone from the locking cabinets on the way out.
He gets into his car and unlocks his phone to start browsing his various social media platforms catching up on the 4 hours he missed. While on one the engineer forums he follow he reads the most outrageous headline he's seen in a while. "Theory of Subconsiouly Controlling the Neurons in our Brains", by Dr McCoy of MIT. After clicking on and skimming through then giving it a thorough read he concluded it was interesting but not a lot of evidence the theory basically was controlling the hundreds of billions of neurons in our brains to turn a very little amount of electrical energy into a potentially deadly amount if firing order could be controlled. As an electrical engineer who knew everything there was to know about electricity and how it works, as well as how neurons work and what not. In theory even a minuscule about of amperage multiplied by billions of times could definitely be lethal but not like shooting lightning bolts out your hand or anything crazy. Haha guess I'm not the only one wishing they were in a fantasy world

As soon as the thought ended the alarm went off saying he had to return to work
The car door and opens and a man steps out, and starts walking slowly back to a white plain 4 story building with security cameras pointed in a way to not leave a single blind spot. The closer he gets the more his thoughts wonder why he is stuck in this mundance world, why he has to go through the same routine over and over and over. the mononity never stops. His steps slow now facing the door he looks up and sees his towering prison pressuring down on him.
"just four more hours and i can home", the same thought that keeps him motivated day in and out. crosses his head again. Alex steps through the door walks past the metal detectors, returns his phone to the locked closet and slowly but surely proceeds back to his desk.
