“And, publish!” I said, as I clicked the publish button on the site LazyLionsReading.com… or LLR, as it’s called by everyone else.

“Michael! Go to school!” My mother shouted at me, as I closed my laptop, waiting for the book to go “live” on the site.

‘I hope I can get really popular from this!’ I thought, as I grabbed my bag and ran to school.

My name’s Michael Oswalde, I’m 13 years old and currently a year 7 in primary school, I’m going to high school in a few months.

“Mike! Wait up!” My brother Daniel shouted at me, and with him was my younger brother Luke along with my two sisters, Tara and Lucy.

“-sigh- can you guys stay away from me, you’re embarrassing me!” I said, walking at a faster pace than before.

But, my siblings quickly caught up to me.

“Don’t be like that! Bro! We’re not embarassing, are we!?” Tara said, playfully punching my arm.

“...” I just stayed silent, it’s the perfect strategy against a loudmouth like her.

“...Answer me!” She said, punching my arm again.

“...” I stayed silent, waiting for her to switch her target and annoy one of my brothers instead of me.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“Fine, Daniel! What classes do you have today?” Tara started talking to Daniel.

“P.E, Home ec and Drama… you?” Daniel replied quickly.

“P.E, Science and Math!” Tara replied happily.

“Yeah, so… I’m just gonna… bye!” I ran away from them, trying to get to class before they annoy me anymore.

“Wait up bro!” Tara shouted, almost pouncing on my back, but luckily I’ve been in this situation before and dodged to the left…unfortunately right into a wall…

“Ow…” I said, rubbing my sore arm.

“Uuu~” Tara, who fell straight into the hard ground started crying.

“Shit! Tara, are you okay!? Don’t tell mom!... I’m sorry, are you hurt!?” I ran to her, checking her for any bruises, scratches or blood. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt.

“You’re mean! I’m telling mom!” Tara said in between her sobs.

“No, don’t! Please, I’ll pay you, just don’t tell mom!” I said, taking my wallet out.

“Ten dollars!” Tara said, suddenly smiling.

“What...? Wait, were you faking it!?” I shouted at her.

“Uuuuuuuu~” Tara “cried” again.

“Fuck, alright! Here!” I said, reluctantly handing her a ten dollar note.

“Thanks bro! Teehee~” She said, running away.

Then, Daniel and Luke walked behind me and both of them pat me on the back, saying:

“It’s okay… it happens to the best of us” Luke said.

“Sadly, she’s mom’s favorite…” Daniel said.

Lucy just kept walking to school, smiling as if nothing happened.

“C’mon, let’s go!” I said, already over the theft.

And, we went to school… and I went home, hurrying to my laptop and saw the prologue was up, and I noticed that there’s already a comment up, it said:

‘This is pure, utter trash, it has the typical cliche themes and the main character isn’t really likeable, your grammar isn’t the… worst, but it could be better… small tip: it’s spelled Abyss. TLDR?: It’s shit, you probably shouldn’t read it, unless you want to get cancer, 0.5/5 stars’ -Roflcopter

So, out of anger I replied with:

‘You just don’t know art, you’re as blind as a bat! This is at least a 4.5/5! You’re just some uncultured swine who doesn’t know their place!’ -Rousuke

And, within a minute, I got reply saying:

‘I’m the uncultured swine? Well, if I’m a pig, what the hell are you? The ant beneath my feet? The scraps I eat? The grass I shit on? Kid, you should practice more, and learn to take criticism, I was a lot like you when I started, now look at me. I’m selling my books on Jungle.com, and I’m making hundreds a month! Without having to work… much... kid, you should also have some friends read your work, and ask for their honest opinions, maybe you’ll grow… but, you’ll always be an ant if you keep being close minded… and for the love of god, read your work before you post it… you’ll find some mistakes you missed earlier’ -Roflcopter

I read the reply carefully and thought:

‘Holy shit… he’s right, my idea was actually pretty cliche with the main character being betrayed by his friends… and the spelling and grammar isn’t as good as I first thought… this is actually some pretty good advice… maybe I could somehow change the book from a revenge driven MC trying to kill his traitorous allies, into something different…’ I quickly began work on Chapter 1 of the book “Death's Talon: a monster's revenge”, but, before that, I quickly left a like on his comments… and edited the prologue a bit.
