Chapter 2: An Extra’s First Move
The smell of polished wood and expensive cologne filled the air. The room was massive—almost excessive—with gold-trimmed furniture, marble floors, and bookshelves stacked with rare tomes.
Leon sat on the edge of his bed, fingers pressing against his temple as the weight of his new reality sank in.
He had died. He had been reborn. And now, he was Leon Valstaine, heir to the wealthiest family in a world where money, power, and gods ruled everything.
It wasn’t a dream. It was real.
He exhaled slowly.
“Alright… First, let’s assess the situation.
He had everything an ordinary person could dream of—status, wealth, influence.
But in Hunter Gate Crisis Fantasy, that meant nothing without strength.
The world was in crisis, plagued by dungeons, monsters, and awakened Hunters who fought them. And in the shadows lurked gods, constellations, and entities beyond mortal understanding, pulling the strings.
Leon?
A super extra with no combat skills, no divine blessing, and no role in the main story.
If he played his cards wrong, he could easily end up as collateral damage in the chaos to come.
He refused to let that happen.
“I need an edge. And I need it fast.”
The Valstaine Family – The Empire of Gold
Leon’s first advantage was obvious: money.
The Valstaine Conglomerate controlled almost everything—from elite Hunter guilds to high-grade artifact trading and dungeon mining. Their reach extended to politics, black-market dealings, and underground intelligence networks.
That meant he had access to resources no one else did.
But there was a catch.
Leon wasn’t in control of it yet.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
His father, Duke Aldric Valstaine, was the current patriarch—a powerful and ruthless businessman. Until he proved himself, Leon was just the heir, with no direct authority over the family’s wealth and connections.
That needed to change.
If he wanted to survive, grow stronger, and change fate itself, he had to start moving now.
Leon’s biggest problem was that he wasn’t a Hunter.
In this world, power came from awakening—a process where individuals gained supernatural abilities from dungeons, artifacts, or divine blessings. The stronger the ability, the higher the Hunter Rank.
The protagonist of the game had awakened as an SSS-Rank Hunter, blessed by the God of War.
Leon?
No blessing. No awakening. No natural combat ability.
But he wasn’t going to sit around and accept that.
He knew something that no one else did
A secret method to awaken without a divine blessing.
The Forbidden Awakening Method
In the original game, there was a hidden storyline—a forgotten ritual that allowed anyone to awaken.
But there was a reason it was hidden.
It was dangerous.
It required an ancient forbidden artifact—one that had been buried deep within the Valstaine Conglomerate’s vast collection of relics.
Most people in the game had dismissed it as junk, since it had no immediate use.
But Leon knew better.
That artifact could force an awakening.
It was his only chance to step into the world of Hunters.
“I need to find it."
The Valstaine mansion was massive, filled with servants, guards, and high-ranking officials. Every movement was watched, and even though Leon was the heir, he didn’t have unlimited freedom.
If he suddenly started digging through restricted areas, alarm bells would go off.
So, he needed someone who could move freely in the mansion—someone close, yet loyal enough not to question him.
His mind immediately went to one name.
Victor Hartmann.
His personal butler and bodyguard, trained since childhood to serve him. A man fanatically loyal to the Valstaine family and Leon himself.
Leon smirked.
“Perfect.”
Leon rang the silver bell beside his bed. Within seconds, the large wooden door swung open.
A tall man in a black uniform stepped inside, his movements crisp and disciplined. Silver hair, sharp gray eyes, and a presence that radiated professionalism.
Victor Hartmann, his butler.
“You called, Young Master?” Victor said, bowing slightly. His tone was neutral, but Leon could tell that the man took his duty very seriously.
Leon leaned back, crossing his arms.
“Victor,” he said, his voice calm yet firm. “I need information.”
Victor didn’t flinch. “On what subject, Young Master?”
Leon met his gaze.
“The family’s artifact vault.”
For the first time, Victor’s eyes flickered with hesitation.
“The artifact vault is restricted. Only the Duke and the High Council have access to its contents.”
Leon smirked. “And yet, I know for a fact that my name is listed as the sole inheritor of the Valstaine treasury.”
“…That is correct.”
Leon stood up, stepping toward him.
“Then I want access. Quietly. No one else can know.”
Victor hesitated for only a moment before bowing.
“As you command.”
Leon’s smirk widened.
“Good. Then let’s get to work.
This was just the beginning.
If the world refused to grant him a blessing, he would take power with his own hands.
If the gods ignored him, he would force them to acknowledge his existence.
And if this world still saw him as a mere extra…
Then he would rewrite the entire damn story.
Leon Valstaine was no longer just a background character.
This was his game now.
End of Chapter 2.
