Thalia

My name is Thalia, and I'm a half elf. I was born of a human mother, and my father was an elf, a wood elf to be precise. That precision isn't coming from a place of endearment, merely to give you some background. He was a tall elven lord, with blonde hair and green eyes. My mother was a beautiful woman, with hair black as night, and dark brown eyes to match, and she served as a slave in my fathers castle. In Adrea, humans are nothing more than property to be bought and sold. When humanity lost the war, we lost more than just lives, we lost our freedom. My father, Lord Erven, had bought my mother to be a maid in his castle. She worked diligently, always trying to look on the bright side. She knew many other humans were in much worse conditions than her, so she kept a smile on her face.

Erven was taken by her beauty, so he started to make advances to her, which she refused. Being a lord he wasn't used to rejection, so that night he went to the maids quarters where she was sleeping. He then tied my mother down, and forced himself upon her. She neither slept nor spoke for several weeks, and since that night she's never been able to sleep soundly. Several weeks later, she found out she was pregnant with his child. She then went to him with this news, and when he heard it he commanded that the moment I was born, that I be killed. When the day came for me to be born, one of the other maids served as the midwife, and was tasked with my extermination. She was a mixed elf, part sand elf and part ashen elf, mixed elves are treated better than humans, but there is a definite disdain held for them. She felt sympathy for my mother, so when my mother asked her to spare my life, she obliged. I was born with black hair, green eyes, as well as a pair of short pointed ears, similar to that of an elf's. The midwife, Quilana became like a second mother to me. She alongside my real mom raised me, and when Erven saw her caring for me he questioned who's child I was. She responded, " She is my niece, her mother died when she was born, and the father killed himself in his grief. I am her only living relative." He believed her, and allowed her to take care of me with my real mother assisting.

For context, all elves are capable of one of the for schools of magic: Elemental, Summoning, Enchantment, and Support. No elf has ever been able to use more than one school, and humans are incapable of using magic. But I am. When I was four, I started to display an aptitude for support magic. When my mom saw this she immediately brought me to Quilana, who as luck would have it, has the same aptitude. From then on Quilana would spend an hour a day teaching me how to properly use it, be it for healing a simple cut on my hand, or spells that allowed me to increase my perception and allow me to perceive the world around me in greater detail.

Not too long after I was born, Erven had gotten married to a wood elf woman, and they had a child. A son, whose name was Erkas. He was like a mirror image of his father, and when he got older, he started to behave the same way. When he was young, he and I were friends, and when I was done with my chores and studies for the day, I was permitted to play with him. Over time Erkas started to become distant, and his demeanor started to change. He became cold, and he started to go to the college in the city, designed for elves to pursue greater knowledge of their particular aptitude. During this time I didn't know my heritage other than who my real mother was, and the fact that I was half human, half elf. It wasn't until today that I learned the truth.
