“The scan on your iris and veins has determined that you are an unregistered user. Do you want to create a new account?”
That’s the first sound that he heard when Kayle was connected to Royal Road . He looked around in astonishment and wondered where the feminine voice came from.
“Yes.”
“Select the name of your Avatar.”
“Kayle.”
"Select your gender from male, female or neutral."
“Male,”Kayle said, as he wondered what neutral would look like.
"Royal Road has forty-nine races. You may select -"
“Human!”
“You may alter your appearance.”
“No!”
“Done.”
"Your account has been activated. Your -"
“Next!”
“Select a city and kingdom you want to start in.”
“Serabourg, Rosenheim Kingdom.”
“Welcome to Royal-”
“Passssss!”
With a flash of light, he appeared in the Citadel of Serabourg, Rosenheim Kingdom.
“Wow!” Kayle looked around in bewilderment.
Turning his head left and right, he could see guards patrolling around, with swords at the waist and shields slung behind their back. There were Warriors holding weapons of different shapes and sizes, some had jewelry embedded onto the swords, walking proudly down the streets. Rogues treading carefully, with long cloaks and masks. Several throwing projectiles were seen hanging loosely on their waist belts, beside twin daggers. Mages with robes covering the entire body, while holding staffs and tomes, chatting away. Merchants shouting loudly, with rings and accessories all over their fingers, advertising their items, attracting hordes of “zombies”, who looked at the items with large glittering eyes. And lastly, poorly-dressed newbies like him, running from place to place, talking to every NPC they could lay their eyes on.
Then, something caught his eye.
“Oh, a pyramid!” he exclaimed, and ran towards it. As he was about reach the pyramid, he saw a large horde of people carrying large blocks of stones.
“Slaves!” he giggled, and walked towards one of the “slaves”.
“What are you doing?” Kayle asked.
The worker stared at him.
“Go away little child, we are constructing a pyramid for the King! This is not a place for you! Go to the Training Hall!”
“Uh, okay…” Kayle replied and continued walking aimlessly back to the city square.
After a short tour, he ended up at a farm.
He started playing with the animals. He chased after the chickens, then fed them with his rye bread.Next, he rode on the goat, while holding its horns and played with its goatee.A sheep came close, and he jumped off the goat. He ran forward and cuddled the sheep. He shaped its wool into spikes and random shapes, then ran off. He started playing with the cattle, petting and tickling them. Then, he went to drink milk directly from the cows. The farmer watched him silently, concerned about his animals…
As the sun was setting, Kayle remembered that one of the slaves had told him to visit the Training Hall. He started walking there, eating the rye bread along the way.
He entered the training hall, and could only see a handful of people swinging the sword diagonally.
“Wow. What an empty Dojo compared to Dad’s,” he said in a low tone.
The Instructor saw Kayle, and glared fiercely at him.
“Young child, are you lost?”
“No, I’m here to train!” Kayle replied.
The Instructor’s eyes widened, and he replied,“You shall find sword training absolutely necessary when you come to confront monsters. Do you need my guidance? I tell you, take any unattended scarecrow and strike him in any way you want. A wooden sword is placed in front of a scarecrow, and it is all yours.”
“Can I have two Training Swords instead of one?” Kayle’s eyes darted across the hall. He then stared at the Training Sword rack.
“Go ahead, young one.”
Kayle immediate ran across the hall and took a wooden sword shaped like a katana, and another sword shaped like the Chinese character “Jian”.
He ran towards the nearest and shouted ‘Iaijutsu’! An arc of light drew across the scarecrow, as he striked using his right hand. Next, he twisted his body and turned, while drawing another arc of light using his other hand. Then, he started hitting the scarecrow repeatedly, using the two swords in both hands in sequence.
Several hours passed by. He was drenched to the bone from his sweat, and his satisfaction level was below 30, out of 100. He decided to exit the Training Hall and head towards the farm again.
He put his palm on the moist grass, and walked on all fours towards a cow. The cow glared at him, unwilling to feed him, however, it gave up, due to Kayle’s stubbornness. After removing his thirst, he started munching on his rye bread. Then, he started playing with the farm animals.
The farmer finally came out, with a distressed look.
“Do you like the animals?”
“Yes,” Kayle replied excitedly.
Then, a system message appeared in front of him.

He had also forged a friendship between the animals in the farm, thus, he had learned how to communicate with them. He had also earned the trust of Uncle Thomas, receiving several quests of delivery, shopping, and planting, other than feeding the animals.
“Kayle, what have you been doing for the past few weeks in Royal Road?” asked Estee.
“Uh, hitting scarecrows the whole day, playing, and helping Uncle Thomas in the farm,” he replied.
“Cool…” His sister replied in a sarcastic tone.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Looks like Kayle missed the time when he was hitting wooden stakes in the Dojo. Father would be pleased,” his sisters giggled among themselves at the dining table.
Back in-game, Kayle attraction some attention, as people found it amusing to see a one meter tall boy using two Training Swords, one in both hands, which were each as tall as him, striking a scarecrow.
After repeatedly hitting the scarecrows, he had earned a number of skills.
