1,000 Years Later; Kakariko Village Slums
“Hurry daughter, we must get home before nightfall.” A man in a cloak exclaimed holding onto a young woman’s hand. “The house is right around the corner.”
The two turned the corner to see a worn down house with a faint light inside. The man knocked 3 times, then 2 more after a second. The door creaked open revealing a woman peering through the crack. “Welcome home dear.” She said opening the door “Did you get what you needed?”
The man and the young woman entered, removing their cloak “Yes I did.” The man replied holding a tattered book with 3 triangles on its’ cover and a letter. “This book is of the legendary heroes who stood up to Ganon and ended his reign of terror several times over, and this letter says who their reincarnations are today. If we can find these heroes, maybe we can enlist their help to stop Ganon.”
The women grabbed the book and letter from the man “Couldn’t we just give these to that rebel group? They can find them. Why do we have to do it?”
The man stood up and looked at the two women “I do not trust them. The Sheikah do not willingly help people like us. We must find the reincarnations and bring them together to fight and stop Ganon.”
The man grabbed the letter and opened it “Let’s see, it says.” He said as he read, only to stop and look at the young woman “It can’t be.”
“What is it dear?” The older woman asked as she stood up and took the letter from the man to read. “What? How? It can’t be.”
The young woman stood up “What is it mother?” She asked confused, reaching for the letter only for her mother to pull it away. “What does it say?”
The man grabbed the letter and the book, threw them into a safe and locked it. “This mustn’t be known to anybody. Keep it secret.” He looked back at his daughter “Stay away from that safe, you hear me?”
The young woman looked at the safe, then back at her father “Of course father, I won’t go anywhere near it. I promise.” She replied crossing her fingers behind her back.
The man put the key around his neck “Good, now let’s go to sleep. We have a long day tomorrow.” He turned and walked into a bedroom. “You should go to bed as well dear. We are going to need our strength tomorrow.” The woman told her daughter as she followed the man into the bedroom. “Yes mother.” She replied walking into the bedroom next to theirs.
A Few Hours Later
“They should be asleep by now.” The daughter whispered “Now to see what they are hiding from me.”
She crept slowly to her parents’ bedroom door and opened slowly, peeking inside to see if they were asleep “Good, so far so good. Now for the key” she walked slowly to her father’s side of the bed only to find the key still around his neck. She grabbed the key, cut the rope holding it and snuck out of the room undetected.
She opened the safe and grabbed the book “Let’s see what these legendary heroes are all about.” A few hours went by as she read about the legend of Zelda, Triforce of Wisdom, and the master swordsman Link, Triforce of Courage. “They really did all of this? Why is her name the same as mine? And what is this Triforce they speak of?” She asked herself as she closed the book and reached for the letter. “Now to see what they are hiding from me.” She opened the letter and read.

-Impa, Leader of the Sheikah
“The Triforce of Wisdom holder is in the Kakariko Slums? It can’t be me, can it?” She asked herself ash she became flustered and threw the book and letter back into the safe and locked it. “They are going to get me, I have to run away.” She started running towards her parents room “Mother, Father” She felt her hand start to become warm and glow “What’s going on?”
The parent’s door opened “What’s going on?” The man yelled. He saw his daughter on the floor holding her hand “Cover it up” he said as he quickly grabbed a sheet and threw it to her.
She grabbed the sheet and covered her hand trying to conceal the glow “Father, what’s happening?”
He knelt down beside her, looking at her covered hand “You read them didn’t you?”
She nodded “I felt as if I needed to know. I’m sorry father.” He reached down and grabbed her covered hand “This confirms it, you are the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom, but you are still my daughter, Zelda. There is nothing that will change that.” Her mother entered the room “Why now?” She asked herself.
She started to tear up “What do we do now father? Are we going to leave Kakariko? Where will we go?” She asked holding his hand.
He stood up “Pack your bags, we are leaving soon. We will head to a few friends of mine to see if they can help us.” There was a loud bang at the door followed by what sounded like oinking. “It’s too late. Zelda, go to your room and hide.”
“But what about you?” She asked as she started running towards her room. Her father looked at her “Don’t worry about us, hurry up and hide.”
Zelda quickly ran to her room and crawled under her bed, shortly after she heard the door break open “What do you want with us? We don’t have any……” there was a thud as if something hit the ground. Zelda heard her mother scream and then silence.
She heard footsteps coming closer, her door opened. She could see strange 3 toed monsters coming inside. They oinked at each other as they thrashed the room. One stopped in front of the bed, Zelda held her breath, hoping they would go away.
The bed flew to the other end of the room as they picked it up. She was found, she scooted quickly to the wall behind her as they started getting closer, readying their weapons. She closed her eyes and prayed that someone would save her.
There was a clang and a thud on the ground. She opened her eyes to see a young man approach her. He gestured for her to get up. “Who are you?” she asked as she stood up, looking around the room seeing the monsters lying on the ground dead.
The young man gestured for her to follow him as he walked out of the room, watching every corner expecting to see anything around that can attack them.
“Hey, I asked who you are.” She asked again following him outside the room, he stopped and covered her eyes with his hand “What do you think you are doing? Get your hands off of me.” She yelled forcefully removing his hand from her eyes. What she saw laying on the ground caused her to drop to her knees, tears filling up her eyes.
Her father laying on the ground, head smashed in, and her mother with a spear through her stomach and a slit throat. “Mother? Father? Why? Why is this happening?”
The young man gestured to her to get up. She slowly got to her feet “Where are you taking me?” she wiped her eyes as they started to leave the run down house. She stopped “Wait a second.” She ran to the safe and grabbed the letter and the book. “Ok, let’s go.”
The young man stopped as they reached a hill overlooking the slums. She stepped closer, knelt down, and put her hands together “Please, mother and father, rest in peace.” She stood up and looked back at the young man “Let’s go, when we get to where ever you are taking me I want you to answer ALL of my questions. Do you have that?”
The young man nodded and gestured for her to follow him. She took a few steps and stopped. She took a quick look back at the slums “Good bye” she whispered and followed the young man out of the Kakariko Slums.
