Chapter 0: How the Divine Tribes Arrived

Eons had passed since the Titans, the progenitors of existence itself, waged war against one another until they left their creations behind and laid to rest. In their absence, the gods decided to honour these mightiest of beings that brought them fourth by creating life in their image, the races of the Divine Tribes, so they may populate the universe together with the countless other mortal creatures which emerged from the aftermath of the Primordial War. The Divine Tribes quickly spread throughout all corners of existence and inhabited the worlds which came to be where the Titans once had clashed against one another.

One such world was Moros, the only world known to orbit the star Sonticus.

In the millennia following their arrival on Moros, the 6 races of the Divine Tribes competed against one another for territory and resources, until a balance between them started to form. However, this balance would soon be disrupted by a catastrophe of unprecedented magnitude, which became known as the Great Cataclysm.

Alba, Moros' one and only moon, was ripped apart by an unseen force, causing it to split into two smaller moons, the green moon Viridis, and its smaller red twin Rubrum. This apocalyptic event led to large amounts of debris hurtling towards Moros and bombarding its surface. The impact of these moon-fragments was so devastating, that they caused the single super-continent of Moros to split into six parts, which due to shifts in the planets crust started to drift away from one another. Despite the gods sending their strongest forces, the seraphim known as the 4 Divine Generals, to shield as many of Moros' inhabitants from the disaster as they could, nearly half of the population of the Divine Tribes fell during this event, and many more would perish in the years following the Great Cataclysm.

The reason for the further decline of the 6 races blessed by the gods was a sudden increase in numbers of monsters and dangerous beasts, which not only seemed unaffected by what happened, but even thrived in the new environments created by it. Nearly all knowledge from before the Great Cataclysm, as well as the first few centuries after it had commenced, was forever lost, leading to the time before the event being referred to as the Dark Ages.

At the brink of extinction, the Divine Tribes prayed to their creators for salvation, and the gods answered their calls. Seven individuals among the Divine Tribes were appointed as champions of their respective races and tasked to help them recover to their former glory. These heroes, known as the 7 Liberators of Moros, brought balance into the world once more and ushered in an Age of Heroes, in which each of the Divine Tribes managed to conquer one of the newly created continents and made it their homes.

On the smallest of all continents, Guan, dangerous creatures, and plants started to thrive and grow in numbers, thus being avoided by all but one of the Divine Tribes. Those who did not fear the monsters and perils of these lands were the battle-crazed Orcs, who approached the challenges of Guan with open arms.

Large regions of Caligo, the desert continent, became polluted by the metal ivellium, which was unearthed by the bombardment of moon-fragments. This metal was poisonous to all without infernal blood flowing through their veins, and thus became the home of Demons, as they were the only race immune to it. However, even as the ivellium concentrations lowered to non-lethal amounts in most regions, demons would remain dominant on Caligo.

The Dwarves took a liking to the landmass they named Saibrheas, the continent of riches, which was covered in mountains and valleys, and considered by most other races to be uninhabitable due to destructive weather phenomena and tectonic events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions being a common occurrence. The reason for their infatuation for these treacherous lands was the abundance of resources of all kinds and the natural beauty of these lands, both of which they considered to far outweigh any risk.

The continent of forests, Shinrin, was conquered by Elves, who would grow more and more secluded from all other races, as they saw them as catalysts for the ills that befell the world. However, they never outright showed hostility towards them and went out of their way to attack them, with the only exceptions being orcs, who they saw as their arch-nemesis.

Though the northernmost continent, Págos, was known as the frozen north, its coasts were warm enough for vegetation to bloom due to tropical currents from the south flowing into its adjacent arctic ocean. This continent became home to many of the Beastkin-Tribes, as their natural resistances against the elements made it possible to survive even in the coldest of regions.

The largest continent, Corus, however, was dominated by Humans, which despite having lost all but the most basic of magical knowledge, managed to survive due to their adaptability and diplomatic skills. However, as the human greed for power knows no bounds, merely surviving was never enough, and in their attempts to expand their territory, they made many an enemy, though mostly with one another, as every nation wanted to unite the continent under their own flag. This led to the creation of 3 major factions competing for supremacy on Corus, known as the Three Thrones of Humanity.
