Chapter 7
Hunt
Arthur left us here with nothing but his last words “I hope that you won’t need me in this expedition.” It was like he was taunting us, that if he ever steps up and helps us, we’re not ready for the real world yet. Hahaha! I guess we’ll have to make this work.
*flashback*
“Remember guys! The most important thing to do when you guys are camping outside, when on an expedition or an adventure. To secure the area around you, it is also important to have a full meal before going to battle. What are you guys gonna do when you’re hungry and fighting? You’ll lose stamina more quickly, meaning losing a longer battle!.... You need to know who is leading the party when you guys are out there! You don’t need to listen to 2 people arguing on what to do, but instead a leader that knows his team and knows their weaknesses. I recommend Alex to be your guy's leader. Because when it’s just the three of you! Sarah is too hot headed. When it comes to rationality she’s gonna choose violence than retreat, and Julio needs to be in the shadows to use his full power. But Alex has a passive skill that lets him be able to analyze the whole field and to give commands, he is also calm and collected when it comes to that.”
After ranting about the lecture to us he ended the lecture with.
“Finally Alex! Control your emotions. Don’t let your surroundings pressure you and decide things intelligently! Don’t worry about anything and trust your party! Remember to analyze the situation first before deciding!”
I was speechless but I said.
“I won’t let anything harm my family!”
*Back to present*
“Julio! Start installing your traps around our camp! Sarah gather some wood for our fire. I’ll start preparing our food and what we need tomorrow! After we finish our preparations we’ll go and eat then sleep for tomorrow. We’ll also have a guard rotation for when we sleep.”
“Roger that!” said by Sarah and Julio
I started to gather the things for our food and started prepping them. After preparing the meal, I started to analyze the field from the top of the tree. Using my Hawkeye skill, I saw trees as tall as a 3 story building, adventurers also camping somewhere far away from us, and dark wolves about 10 kilometers(6.2 miles) North-east from our position. For now we are safe from ambush.
Julio finished his trap installment so I asked him to gather intelligence about the wolves that I saw earlier, where is their den and how many wolves there are in the pack. He left after and I started mapping out our area, then Sarah arrived with twigs.
“Alright I’ll start cooking our food, when Julio arrives let’s start eating.”
“Alright! So what’s the plan tomorrow?” she asked.
“We’ll go eat around dawn so we can start our hunt early. I’ll have you be our vanguard and I’ll be beside you, Julio will stay in the shadows to support us.”
“Alright!!! Just how I wanted!”
*Boom!!!*
We flinched thinking that it was aimed towards us. All we can see is a flash of light in the distance.
“What was that?” Sarah asked
“I don’t know! We need to check that out.”
“Alright!!”
*Swosh!!*
Julio appeared behind me.
“We have to prepare for battle!! Hundreds of Dark wolves are coming this way!”
“WHAT!!”
*Clink!! Cling!!*
“That’s my trap! It's about 4 kilometers(2 miles) from us!! GET READY!!”
^Stunned!! I was stunned… 4 kilometers? I thought they were about 10 kilometers away from us! I didn’t plan this! What should I do? Should we just retreat??No, we should fight!! I don’t know what to do!! All of this is out of my calculation! What would happen to Julio and Sarah?? We need to get out of here!^
*SLAPP!!!*
“Hey!!! What are you doing?!! We’re about to battle here!! This is not the leader I signed up for, you know!!”-Sarah
“Don’t worry Alex! I won’t let anybody hurt you!! Just tell me what to do.”-Julio
With a smile, Julio was counting on me! And with an angry face Sarah was mad at me. Hahaha!! How could I forget! I’m not alone here, I don’t need to be alone! and… I NEED TO PROTECT MY FAMILY!!
“Hahaha!! Sorry about that! I didn’t even consider your guy’s feelings! Alright shall we do this?? I don’t wanna get slapped by Sarah again!”
“ALRIGHT!!! THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!! So what’s the plan commander?” Sarah with her big smile.
“Hehehe!! I knew you were gonna be alright! Just say the word and I’ll do the best I can!”
“Thank you guys! Alright!! Here we go!! Listen up, since we’re up against about a hundred dark wolves we need to separate them accordingly. I need Julio to put oil about 300 meters away from us and scatter it around!”
“Right away!!”
*Vanish*
“Sarah! Get ready!! The wolves are about to come!”
“Alright!!” She excitedly said
*Swish*
“I finished putting the oil around! I put 2 rings of oil around our camp.”
“That’s awesome Julio thanks!!”
About 500 meters I can see the wolves running towards our camp and I screamed!
“Get ready!! Go hide and support us Julio! Get in front Sarah!!”
Julio and Sarah started getting in their positions. We waited for the wolves to come near us and already about 20 wolves passed the oil Julio puts. I closed my eyes and remembered what my mother said “be careful out there”. Ha! To think that this is what Arthur was talking about.
“FIREBALL!!!”
I blasted a fireball towards the oil that Julio scattered around, making a fire around our camp! Separating about 30 dark wolves from the pact, it bought us some time to handle the dark wolves that came in the fire.
“Go!! Sarah!!” I yelled.
“Alright!!”
“Earth shock!!”
*Grumble!! grumble!!*
The ground starts shaking, making the wolves stop from running towards us and trying to maintain their balance.
“Vortex stab!!” Sarah said
Sarah’s spear started to have a wind at the tip of her spear. Then she started to run over the dark wolves that were in front of us, immediately killing 12 wolves.
*Slice!!! Slice!!!”
I started to support her sides and back, killing 4 wolves in the process.
“Sarah!! Get back and regroup!”
She then went back to my side and started to cover my back, and continued killing the wolves. We immediately killed 27 wolves that entered the first circle. After that the fire started disappearing and another wave of dark wolves started to pour in front of us, the number was about 90 dark wolves rushing towards us.
“Sarah don’t worry about your back and focus on the wolves that are in front of you!”
“Alright!! I’ll leave my back to you!!”
She then started massacring the wolves in front and I started to kill all the wolves that were going at her back and side. We didn’t realize what was going on and we were just focused on the battle in front of us. We killed about 51 wolves that time already.I was thinking that in a pack of wolves there is always an alpha, and I started thinking that it’s probably better to let Sarah handle the alpha than me. I started looking while fighting, using my hawkeyes skill I could see things that were much further than what a normal eyesight could see, and I saw there was an Alpha dark wolf about 40 meters north-east of us. Dark wolves are considered E rank monsters but alpha wolves are 1-2 ranks higher than normal ones. So I decided that…
“Sarah!! Leave these wolves to me and target the alpha wolf about 40 meters in your north-east!!! You can handle it right??”
“WHO DO YOU THINK I AM!!??”
Then she started dashing towards the alpha and ignoring the normal ones. Then daggers started flying out of nowhere and hitting some of the wolves. It caught the attention of the wolves and started to target me and not Sarah! Good job Julio!
“Earth shock!”
*Grumble!! Grumble!!*
The earth started to shake again and in the midst of the shaking I used a dash and the boots Kothar gave me to speed. I started to slash wolves left and right, killing 12 wolves in an instant. I didn’t realize that there was a wolf that was about to bite me at my side…
“Gust!!”
A ball of air started forming beside me and hit the wolf that lounged towards me. After getting hit by my gust the wolf flew 10 meters away from me. I restarted my position to fully see my surroundings. I could see Sarah doing okay against the Alpha and that the alpha has some daggers attached to its side, which means that she got help from Julio. After restarting my position I used my dash and shoes to go towards the wolves. After about 10 minutes I killed 20 wolves all by myself…
“You’re not finished here!??” sarah smirked
She then killed the remaining 12 wolves that were in sight. She has some bite marks on her arms and some scratches on her feet.
“Hahaha!! Thank you! Here I’ll heal you!”
She then started walking towards me when…
“ALEX WATCH OUT!!”- She yelled
I looked behind me and there’s another alpha that was about to bite my head.
*Swosh!!*
Julio came out of my shadow and…
“Chain strike!!”
*Swing swing swing!!*

Sarah finished off the alpha by making the head of it disappear. After looking around I noticed no more wolves within my hawkeye sight. So I told Julio…
“Assess the situation! Look around for more wolves within this area”
Julio then vanished and started looking around. While Julio was assessing the situation around the area, I started to analyze the things to do with the corpses and the loot. I then started healing Sarah's injury. I noticed that our camp was destroyed and the food I made was scattered around the floor.
*Swish!*
“There’s a group that is stuck near the explosion! They are a party of 6 and they look like a bunch of E-ranks. Right now they are surrounded by 60 wolves and there’s no alpha in sight”
“Let’s go!! Let’s help them out!”
“Are you sure??”-sarah
“I know that usually adventurers don’t tend to help one another. But that is BULLSHIT!! I don’t want to be a hero but I want to help all the people I can help. So let’s go before it’s too late”
“Alright!”
Julio just smiled and nodded while Sarah was smiling. I know they want to help them too, but they don’t know what I would do because I lead this party. They need to follow what I say.
We started to rush towards the place Julio directed us to go and after arriving we saw 3 of their party members were deeply injured and 3 of them were warding off the wolves. Then we started joining them and eliminating the rest of the wolves. I went towards the party and said…
“Hello! I’m sorry if we tried to butt in this situation but it looks like you guys are in need of help!”
“Don’t worry about us kids!! You can’t handle this many wolves! Just leave and call for an emergency!”
With a tired look on his face.
“Don’t worry about us and watch what we are capable of!!”
Then I dashed away from them and helped Sarah and Julio
“NOO!!” the person tried to stop us.
But he was surprised by what he witnessed.
“Sarah be careful! I got your back! Julio go and cut off the monsters from behind and don’t let any escape!”
“Copy that!!” they both answered
While we were fighting the party behind us were looking at us all mesmerized! They were thinking that maybe we weren’t kids and maybe we are half- pixies or something. They were looking at how I led the whole party, they were mesmerized by the power that Sarah was showing, and they were stunned at how Julio can disappear and appear out of nowhere. After about 20 minutes of fighting, we killed all the wolves that were surrounding this area. Then we started coming over towards the other party.
“Are you guys alright? Well I can see that 3 of you guys are deeply wounded so here!”
I started healing them one by one with my Minor healing until I ran out of mana, I started to feel dizzy and blacked out. While I was blacked out, the other party was thanking all of us and requested that we sleep in their camp for now. Their camp is located behind the rock they were stuck at, it was a cave that collapsed but the entrance seems to be still intact. Then they let us all sleep and told us that they will all stand guard for us! And said that this is just a little thing to do for their saviors. After 7 hours of sleeping I woke up and my head started hurting, it’s like I was hungover from drinking too much beer.
I stood up and analyzed my surroundings, I saw that we’re in a cave and that there’s already sunlight outside.
“Hey I guess you’re awake now! Here have some food! You blacked out yesterday exhausting your mana. Right now we are in our camp and your party members are sleeping over there.”
He pointed at the tent, and I saw Sarah sleeping like there’s no more tomorrow, and Julio is sitting down while sleeping!
“Hahaha! They might be exhausted from all the fighting that we did!”
“Yeah I could tell! The archer that you guys healed over there scouted the area and she saw the corpses of the wolves that you guys I think fought, since it was just my party and your party around here I thought that the corpses are yours. We gathered them all here totalling 191 dark wolves and 2 alpha dark wolves.”
“You guys don’t need to do that, you know!! We could have taken care of it.”
“No no no!! It’s at least what we could do to you guys! Ohh my name is James Rafid. If you don’t mind, I would like to know your name.”
“My name is Alexander Sator, you can just call me Alex.”
“Alexander Sator.. Guys!!”
Then one by one his party members started to gather around me and bowed~!!!
“Thank you for saving us!!” they all screamed together
Sarah and Julio were still sleeping in the tent and didn’t know what happened.
“Hahaha!! Don’t worry about it guys!”
“I’m sorry to ask. But are you half- pixie?”-Niklas
“Niklas!! Stop!!”
“Hahaha! It’s alright and now I'm a full human!”
“Then may I ask how old you guys are!?”
“Yes! Me and that girl over there Sarah are both 10, and that guy over there Julio is 8”
“What??! You guys are not even adults yet but then you killed all those wolves? And even alphas? Can I ask what your guys rank?”
“Niklas!! Stop!! I’m sorry! You don’t have to answer any of his questions anymore.”
“I’m sorry!! I went overboard and just got excited!”
I just laughed it off and said that it was okay, since they didn’t push it anymore. They suggested that I collect all the loot from the wolves, and they told me that they already dismantled everything and packed everything, we just have to carry it down the mountain and sell it to passing merchants or sell it to the city. Since we can’t carry most of them I gave them about 30 worth of monster loot. They insisted that they pay us, but I declined and asked them for a favor instead. They agreed and after talking for 30 minutes they said that they were gonna go first and go to the nearest village. They said that if we ever go back to the city, that we should invite them to a party. I just nodded and let them go ahead.
1 hour later Julio and Sarah both woke up, and I explained to them what happened while they were asleep. They just trusted my judgment and let me make all the decisions. They also ate the leftover soup that the other party made.
“Looks like you guys had it rough for your first quest huh!”
“AHHHH!!!”
We were all shocked and jumped! Because Arthur just appeared in front of us out of nowhere.
“Hahaha!! I thought I was about to jump in when you were about to get eaten by that alpha Alex! Good thing I saw Julio by your shadow before jumping in!”
“Hehehe! You think a bunch of dogs are gonna kill us??”-bragged by sarah
“Hahaha!! Alright that’s that! How about we start heading back home!”
“PLEASE!!” I begged
Julio and Sarah both laughed at me and nodded.
“Alright! Let's go back to our camp and pack our things!”
I took my dimensional bag out and put the loot we had earlier and there were still some spaces left. Then we went back to our camp and started packing up our things. We didn’t take some of the things back because it was completely ruined. After packing up our things we headed down the mountains and walked to the nearest town.
After walking for about an hour, we arrived at a small town called Mashnard. It is a small town that is governed by a baron. We walked inside and headed straight to the guild. Our purpose for going into this town was selling our loot and getting our quest completed. After all the things were done we went out. To our surprise a person launched himself to me and asked me…
