“Everyone, get into formation” Ian shouted
Matt watched as all the warriors clamored to the front while he, along with the other combat magicians and archers made their way behind large boulders, which would act as cover for them. The priests remained far back, preparing to heal any person that suffered an injury. The scouts went ahead and examined the cave they were in.
“No traps detected guild leader” a Scout reported.
“Excellent, then we’ll wait for it to come to us”
“Sir a huge entity is appearing from the North” another Scout reported
“Everyone maintain formation” Ian shouted repeatedly
A huge figure slowly made its way towards the group.
“What the fuck” Matt whispered under his breath
It was terrifying. A dragon, larger than any creature known to mankind. Over 200 meters long, a pair of glossy wings laid on its back, colored a bright, crimson red. Its claws were a magnificent sheen of black and seemed sharp enough to slice through anything.
“It seems that food has delivered itself to my doorstep” The dragon arrogantly remarked “Remember me, humans, my name is Ragni, and tonight, you will be my dinner”

“Archers, fire! Combat magicians, begin casting offensive spells” commanded Ian
Matt started chanting fireball, one of the most common but most effective spells under the fire magician branch.
“Cheap tricks” Ragni muttered, before roaring, which in itself was magic
In his hands, Matt’s fireball went out of control. “What the heck” Matt exclaimed. His mana went rampant, forming waves that transmitted through the air and his spell broke. He fell to his knees and started spitting blood.
I shouldn’t have come, Matt thought, wiping the blood off his face. He grasped his staff and used it to push himself up. He began chanting again. The other magicians were in a similar state, all injured in different ways, but overall fatally wounded. Some of them made their way to the clerics.
“Do not panic. Warriors, begin engaging” Ian commanded
The warriors ran towards Ragni in a coordinated fashion and started attacking. Countless amounts of blades stabbed and jabbed at the creature to no avail. They didn’t even pierce the dragon’s rigid scales.
“You humans are pathetic” Ragni roared, “This fight is over”. It began chanting a series of unrecognizable words.
“Nonsense” Ian shouted, “Everyone, keep applying pressure on it”
“Pathetic humans, you should realize who you’re fighting” Ragni thundered as he finished chanting, “Burning Rhapsody”
Instantly the whole cave was engulfed with flames. The cave started crumbling, stalactites started falling from the ceiling. The troops were engulfed with fire and the smell of rot came about.
Matt stared at his staff and thought, Am I really gonna die here… is this really the end. He began thinking about the good memories, about the times that were most memorable to him. The first time he was able to chant a magic spell… he remembered it vividly… firebolt. He thought of the time when he bought his first magical staff, something he’d been saving for years.
The screams of despair rang around the cave, along with the cackle of Ragni, who began feasting on the piles of dead bodies that kept adding up.
“I don’t… want to die” muttered Matt, as his eyes turned lifeless and his head thuds on the ground.
