Chapter 9

The next day I went back to Melissa's cabin in the small village of Borg.

Melissa welcomed me this time with gratitude by opening the door to her cabin and letting me sit on a comfortable couch near a very hot fireplace, unlike last time where she almost cast a dangerous spell on me.

"Melissa, it's good to see you again," I said sitting on the couch.

"Your majesty, what´s the matter, why have you come this time, has the book been confiscated?"

"No, nothing like that Melissa, everything is fine with the book, I was wondering if you are willing to work for me extracting Bering crystals from any mines that you know about."

"Bering crystals?" she said.

"That's right," I responded, "I read in your Alchemy book that Bering crystals function as the energy source of magic, we need those crystals because they are the raw material of magical civilization. We have one of the mines without operation because the copper deposits have run out, since it turned out that there were very few metals in that area, however, I have the idea of starting to trace deposits of Bering crystals in that place, since "That in the book it was mentioned that these crystals are usually found in the same place as copper."

"Your majesty, you are right that Bering crystals are usually found in areas close to copper, but I have a better idea."

"What is that idea, I asked."

"There are some rich deposits of crystals in the forest of the village of Borg, near a small stream of crystal clear water. Before the witch persecutions, we used to go to the stream to take crystals because that entire area is enriched with that magical material.

We used to take those crystals and use them for all kinds of potions for our villages, usually for the production of magical medicine and for the generation of fire to warm us during times of harsh winter, however, after they started chasing us, that forest "It became more and more abandoned, hiding in the undergrowth."

"Melissa, then, do you know the location of those Bering crystal deposits? Let's go to that place."

"With pleasure, your majesty."

At that, I got up from the couch and began to follow Melissa to the outskirts of the castle. Inside her small garden she lifts a large broom with both hands and proceeds to place it between her legs.

"Get in," she said, "let's fly. Don't worry, the broom is quite safe."

Am I really going to fly on a magic witch's broom? I felt a little insecure about flying since I had never imagined being on a witch's broom in my life, but hey, I decided to try it for the first time. So I put the broom between my legs and sit right behind Melissa, holding onto her shoulders.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"Hold on tight, your majesty," Melissa said and the broom quickly began to rise into the sky. It rose higher and higher and the higher it rose, the more I held on to Melissa's clothes because I felt like I was going to fall.

He flew so high that I could even breathe the clouds in the sky that hit my face. I could even see the great mountains that lay on the borders of the kingdom, I also managed to see lakes, rivers and several snow-capped mountains at this height. The different towns and settlements were visible, I could see them as if they were miniatures. Due to the height, I felt a little vertigo so I held on tightly to Melissa's waist.

"It's down there," Melissa said, pointing with her index finger. I could barely see the forest below us as some clouds blocked my vision.

"Where? I can't see," I said.

Melissa, began to go down little by little until the fog of the clouds dissipated and I was able to see a thick forest full of oak trees that almost completely covered the ground.

"I don't understand, Melissa, it's just a forest like any other. Where are the crystal deposits and the stream where you used to get them?"

"In this forest, crystals arise naturally within the earth, the stream must be near here. Melissa said. You can simply discover Bering crystals by digging a trench on either side of this forest, you don't have to dig very deep.

Then Melissa started flying lower and lower, until we landed on a small green hill full of yellow flowers. Right there, between some stones we found a stream from which a very bright light emanated.

"Look Melissa, there's the stream and look how bright it is."

"Yes, there is your majesty, and that shine is not due to the crystalline water alone, but to the crystals that are deposited at the bottom of the water."

After getting off the broom, I headed towards the stream, putting my right hand in that sweet transparent water. I began to dig a little, pushing aside the white sand that lay at the bottom, until I began to see something that shone brighter and brighter. With my hand I began to take out a beautiful transparent crystal with a slightly greenish hue.

"Look Melissa, I found a Bering crystal. This whole stream is full of these magical crystals. I think we already have enough crystals to build the great wall of the citadel. However, I don't have the slightest idea how the magic of crystals works, I don't know how I can extract their powers."

"Melissa, if it's not too much trouble, could you explain to me, at least in simple words, how magic works? "How are these crystals used?"

"Of course you do, your majesty," Melissa responded, approaching me with her broom in one hand.

"Magic requires almost always two things, the crystals, which are the source of energy, and the Zindar language, which is the language of magic and serves to give orders to that energy about how it should behave.

The first thing we must do is recite the words in Zindar and the energy of the crystal will manifest in different ways, this manifestation can be in the form of levitation of objects, it can also be the generation and control of fire, the control of metals or it can even be the generation of metals from other metals. A large number of things can be done but as long as we have these two elements, the crystals and the pronunciation of Zindar. Now for processes that require a lot of repetition, it is quite inefficient to repeat the Zindar language all the time, so we could write the orders in Zindar on any piece of paper, we set it on fire and this process would be repeated until the flame of the fire was consumed. ."

"Excellent!" I said surprised. "I understood every word you told me Melissa, you are a genius. I'm really shocked. Your knowledge is of great help to our kingdom."

"Sure, your majesty," Melissa responded as I stroked her head and she smiled subtly.
