Chapter 1

“Come on diamond! You know how good it would feel to use your powers on him?”

“No, I can't, that's wrong he does not deserve to have this done to him.”

“Oh, don't be afraid, I am here to help you, together we could control the world.”

“Damien no, I don't want to rule the world, I want to be normal and do good in the world.”

“Haha normal, diamond you are a witch. What is normal about that? Witches are evil, they are selfish and unable to be good.”

“You are wrong Damien, I am good I can't be evil.”

“Oh, poor diamond, do you really believe you are good?”

Beep, beep, beep came the shrill noise of her alarm. Startling Calleigh awake she sat up and looked around before thinking to herself. It’s okay, it’s just a dream.

“Calleigh, are you awake?” Calleigh blinks the sleep from her eyes.

“Hmmm? Yes mom, I am awake.” She responded, the grogginess in her voice showing she had just woken up from a deep sleep.

“Barely,” She mutters to herself, her voice scratchy as she looks around her room.

“Ok! Honey get dressed and come downstairs for breakfast.” Her mother’s voice was smooth like honey as she spoke to her daughter.

“Yes! Mother I will be right down,” Calleigh quickly responds. Calleigh stands up and walks over to her closet and stares into her closet aimlessly. She could not seem to shake the dream from her mind. It was just a dream she reminded herself. There is no such thing as magic and I am a normal plain kid. She grabbed a pair of jeans and a simple green shirt to go with.

“Calleigh Jo Callahan! Get your behind down here for breakfast,” her father yelled. She knew it was business when he used her full name. He has always called her CJ.

“Good morning, mom and dad,” Calleigh spoke as she sat down at the table across from her father. She peeked over at her mother who was pouring coffee into her father's cup. Her mother was a woman with dark complexion, she had black hair with gray streaks throughout and piercing green eyes. She was not tall but was not quite short either. Calleigh then looked at her father, a man who stood at 6-foot 1 inch. He had dirty blonde hair and dark chocolate brown eyes. Looking at him you would be scared and intimidated at the sight of him. However, he was a cuddly teddy bear. He was a college professor, although she was not quite sure exactly what he taught in college.

“Calleigh?” her father asked with a concerned look.

“Did you hear me?” Calleigh shook her head before responding to him.

“Sorry? No dad I did not hear you, what did you say?” Calleigh asked, perplexed.

“Are you excited to be starting middle school?” Her father repeated, the worry creased in between his eyebrows still evident.

“Oh yeah, I guess.” She responded half-heartedly. In all honesty, she was nervous to be starting middle school. She had a strange feeling that something was going to happen. Ever since she could remember, she would have these feelings or dreams and then she would see it out in real life. Her parents always told her “the mind sees what it wants to see.” Even today, she still doesn't know what that means exactly. The bus horn snapped her out of her thoughts. She grabbed her bags and kissed her parent’s good-bye and bolted out the door. As she ran to get on the bus, she had a tingle that ran up her spine. It was the feeling as though someone was watching her. She turned around but nobody was there.

“Hey, CJ you coming or what”? Calleigh looked up at Vee, the bus driver who has picked Calleigh up every day since kindergarten.

“Uh yeah, sorry Vee. I was distracted.”

“No worries suga,.” Vee replied with a sweet smile. As she climbed up the bus steps, she couldn't shake the weird feeling that was looming over her. She scanned the faces on the bus and stopped when she found the face she was looking for. Jaylynn Murphy, her best friend since forever, exchanged smiles as Calleigh walked toward their seat.

“Hey Jay! How was Peru?” Calleigh asked as she sat down.

“CJ it was amazing, so many cute boys!” Jay exclaimed. Calleigh has always known that Jay was slightly boy crazy, she never met a boy she didn't admire for one reason or another.

“What about you CJ? Do anything fun or meet anyone cute?” Jay asked. Just dreaming about the same boy day and night, oh and dreaming that I am a witch who is conflicted on whether or not she is good or evil. Calleigh thought to herself but replied with a slight smile.

“Oh, ya know, the usual read a ton of books.”

“Oh, CJ how are you going to meet your prince with your nose crammed in a book?” Jay asked in a teasing voice. Jay always says to get her nose out of the books, the only “books” she reads are the ones with pictures of boys in them. Calleigh sighed and retorted back,

“Jay, no prince or boy will look at me the way they look at you or even trip over themselves for you.” The look on Jay’s face was almost identical to if Calleigh would have slapped her across the face with a wet fish.

“Calleigh Jo!! You take that horrendous statement back right now!” Jay squawked in a high pitch tone. Jay was the walking Aphrodite of the present times. She has straight blonde hair that flows to the middle of her back and these green eyes that would make an Irish man sing. She was basically flawless in every aspect. When looking at Calleigh herself she had dark chestnut brown that curled no matter what, light blue eyes that changed to crystal blue when she cried and to top her off her face was sprinkled with freckles. She paled in comparison to her best friend.

“Hello CJ, where did you go?” Jay asked as she waved her hands in front of Calleigh’s face. Calleigh blinked a few times, snapping back into reality.

“I’m sorry what?” She responded, still dazedly in her head.

“Well we have arrived at school and I was wondering if you planned on camping out on the bus or actually attending school today?” Jay teased. The girls grabbed their bags and headed off the bus.

“Y'all have a great first day today.” Vee said as the girls descended the bus stairs.

“Thanks, and you too Vee.” Both girls said in unison. There was no point of return, heading into their first day of seventh grade side by side.  As they stood there staring at the entrance of McArthur Jr/Sr High School, Calleigh had that strange feeling again. So, she turned around and looked at all the people walking by, nobody was looking at her.

“Jay, Cj wait for us.” The girls turned around and saw the twins Torian and Selene Jacobson, rushing up to greet them on the flat spot before the staircase.

“Can you believe it, we are all in 7th grade now!!? Torian squealed with excitement. Selene rolled her eyes, sighing in response.

“Sure, if going from the top of the academic food chain to the bottom of it, is your idea of excitement.” For being identical twins, they were complete opposites on everything. Torian the loud and bubbly one, nothing could rain on her parade. She was friends with everyone. Then there was Selene who was quiet and reserved but also liked to look at things from the half empty concept. Selene quietly asked the question they were all thinking but avoiding.

“Shall we enter our prison for the next 6 years?” As the girls started to climb the stairs and make their way to the auditorium for the mandatory 7th grade orientation. They settled in the back row away from everyone else. As the principal started his speech, Calleigh felt a questionable feeling overcome her body. She shook her head and tried to refocus her mind on Mr. Canary who was starting to announce homerooms. Lucky for the girls they all were assigned to the same homeroom. Calleigh could not seem to shake the feeling that seemed like a warning, but a warning for what? The girls found their way to their homeroom, as they entered the room they were given their class schedules. They walked to the back of the class and sat at a group of desks and looked at their schedules. Selene sighs with angst, dropping her schedule away from her face with one hand.

“I have wood 1 for first period” Jay squeals and quietly shouts

“Me too!” The girls continue to go over their schedules together.

“Listen up class, my name is Ms. Martin. I have a few announcements before the bell rings and send you on your way for the day.” Ms. Martin tells all of the students she was seeing.

“I am Ms. Martin your homeroom teacher and for some of you lucky few will have me as your Honors English 7 teacher as well.” Ms. Martin did not look old enough to be a teacher. She wore glasses far too big for her face, her hair was held up by what looked like chopsticks and stray strands hanging down all over the place. As the class chatted amongst themselves waiting for the bell to send them to the first period. Ms. Martin talks over the class.

“Students, we have a new student and I need someone to be his guide until he gets the lay of the land.”

“Cj should I offer my assistance?” Jay asked with a doe eyed grin. Calleigh giggled and replied without thinking about encouraging her best friend.

“go for it, Jay.” She smiles.

“Calleigh Callahan?” Ms. Martin asked the class.

“umm yes ma’am?” Calleigh answered with a confused expression.

“Calleigh this is Rowan Alexander; would you be kind enough to be his guide for the day?” Ms. Martin asked in a pleasant voice. As soon as Calleigh laid eyes on Rowan, she froze instantly in place. It was crazy, he looked familiar. As though she had seen him somewhere before now.

“Hey I am rowan.” he said with a coy smirk.

Calleigh’s cheek turned bright pink, and she quickly responded, sounding sort of like an idiot.

“yeah I know, she just said your name out loud.” Calleigh looked away, desperate to look anywhere but at his face. Calleigh wanted to fist pump the air when the bell dismissed them to leave homeroom and go to the first period.

“Come on Rowan, let's get to social studies.” Calleigh said quickly.

“Lead the way sunshine” Rowan retorted with a smoldering smirk. Calleigh said goodbye to her friends and told them she would see them in 4th period algebra. As Calleigh and Rowan are going to Mr. Fletcher’s Social Studies room, Rowan tries to make small talk. However, Calleigh could not shake the feeling of impending danger. Something about Rowan made her neck hair stand up on end. As they entered the classroom, Calleigh was hoping Rowan would sit far away from her. No such luck, the class was set up where desks were sat in groups of twos. So, who would have guessed Rowan would sit down right beside Calleigh. She did not have time to move, because Mr. Fletcher was shutting the door to indicate class was starting.

“Good morning class, I am your social studies teacher Mr. Fletcher.”

“Good morning,” the class said in unison. Mr. Fletcher was not your typical-looking teacher. He was tall and wore glasses and had an artist goatee, but had no hair on his head. As he was going through the class list, Rowan’s hand touched Calleigh’s hand. It startled her, not because a boy had touched her, but because she thought she heard a voice. Calleigh jumped at the noise of Mr. Fletcher saying her name. Instead of a response of here or present, it was more of a yelp or a mouse squeak. Rowan whispered to her;

 “Are you okay Calleigh?”

“Uhm yeah, fine,” Calleigh responded quickly. As Mr. Fletcher rambled about the year that they would have in his class. Calleigh grabbed her notebook and wrote down what the voice; that she swore she heard said. She surrounded the phrase with question marks.

“Et potestas eius est moriatur”

She was determined to figure out what that phrase meant. She decided while Mr. Fletcher was talking she would switch to a blank page and write a note to jay.

J,

I seriously hate not being in the first period with you. Rowan makes my hair stand up, I can't explain why or how but I just know something about him is worrisome. Ugh life would be so much easier if it wasn't so weird. Maybe when I become a teenager I won't be so weird. Maybe I won't be so awkward. Gotta rush Mr. Fletcher is coming around with books and papers... Buh bye peaches.

C

“Ms. Callahan your book number is 52, here is your syllabus and folder for the year.” Mr. Fletcher said to Calleigh. Calleigh smiled and said

“Thank you, sir.” She nodded her head respectfully as the bell rang again, dismissing them to their next class period.

“Alright students read chapters 1-3 and answer all the questions at the end of each chapter. And have your parents sign your syllabus tonight as well.” Mr. Fletcher said as the students rushed out the door on to their next classes. Calleigh picked up her things to rush out of the classroom. Rowan grabbed her hand, she thought she heard the voice again. But this time it sounded angrier and louder than before.

“Calleigh, do you mind showing me where Ms. Newton’s plant science class is?” Rowan asked. Calleigh started to panic because she was in that class as well. She did not want to sit near him. “Oh, sorry Rowan, I have to stop at my locker before I head to class. I will be late and do not want you to be late as well.” Calleigh lied partly. Before Rowan could say anything to Calleigh, she bolted out of sight and away from him. She ran to Jay’s locker, she slid the note into the opening up top. She quickly opened her own locker and a note fell at her feet. She knelt down and grabbed it quickly, while she shoved her social studies supplies into her locker. She stood up to shut her locker and as she was shutting her locker she felt someone standing behind her. She turned around and was face to face with rowan. He startled her, if her locker was not behind her, she could have easily jumped through the wall.

“Rowan, you startled me.” Calleigh said rather sheepishly. Rowan looked at her in a concerned manner,

“Oh, I am so sorry Calleigh, I was worried about you. You ran out of social studies and I wanted to check on you to make sure you were ok.” Calleigh noticed his apprehension and sighed when the bell rang once more.

“Crap … late bell, come on rowan. If we don't hurry we will be extra late and get detention.” Calleigh sighed. As they walked to plant science class, Rowan asked

“Calleigh, why did you rush out of social studies like your tail was on fire?”  Calleigh told him

“I needed to put a note in my friend's locker quickly.” Rowan responded with a nonchalant answer.

“Oh cool, I think”. Calleigh let out a giggle, she didn't know where that came from. She was not the type of girl to just giggle. They entered Ms. Newton’s classroom to find everyone was standing in front of the room. Calleigh peered through the mass of students and when she did she saw an older woman with cropped gray hair just barely to her chin. As she continued to look at the older woman she noticed that she was wearing cat eyed glasses. Something you would see in the 1950s, she had spunk and is unique, Calleigh thought.

“Alright class I am going to do a roll call and the seating chart. This will be your seat for the year.” Ms. Newton said in a manner of no nonsense. All Calleigh could think was please do not put and rowan near me.

“Callahan, right here.” Ms. Newton says as she points to a desk in the front of the room.

“Yes ma’am.” Calleigh responded as she sat down. Calleigh looks at the empty desk beside. All she was hoping for was that Ms. Newton doesn't say the name Alexander next. She skipped the empty seat next to Calleigh. As she did that Calleigh let out a quiet sigh of relief. After what seemed like twenty minutes and a lot of mispronouncing of names, Ms. Newton was done with the seating chart.

“Oh, I am sorry, what is your name?”. Ms. Newton asked Rowan.

“My name is Rowan Alexander, today is my first day.” Rowan said in response to the question.

“Oh, I don't see you on my list, may I see your class schedule?” Ms. Newton asked.

“Here you go, also if it is not too much trouble may I sit next to Ms. Callahan? She is sort of my guide today.” Rowan asked. Calleigh looked at Rowan and Ms. Newton dumbfounded. Calleigh internally prayed and begged for Ms. Newton to decline the request.

“I do not see an issue with that, Mr. Alexander. Please take your seat next to Ms. Callahan.” Ms. Newton gestured. Rowan slid into the empty seat next to Calleigh. She sighed in frustration at him being near her.

“Alright class, take note of who is beside you. Congratulations, this is your lab partner for the school year.” MS Newton explains to the class.

“Looks like we are partners this year, pretty cool huh?” Rowan asked with a boyish grin.

“Yeah grand.” Calleigh snapped at him.

Rowan looks confused and Calleigh realizes she may have been a little rough and rude to Rowan. She decided to try and be nice to him. Ms. Newton passed out the class syllabus and textbooks to the class. Calleigh noticed that Rowan was no longer seated next to her and she remembered the note she found in her locker. She looked around to double check that nobody was watching her. She opened the letter:

Calleigh,

Looks can be deceiving, rowan is not to be trusted. He is not at all what he seems. In time all will be revealed, trust in yourself. Your instincts will protect you.

O

O who in the world is this mysterious letter Calleigh pondered to herself. She looked up and saw Rowan walking back to their set of desks. She quickly folded the note back up and crammed it back into her backpack.

“Alright students, listen up quickly, I want to give you all your homework that is due tomorrow. Read chapters 1-5 and answer all the odd problems at the end of each chapter.” Ms. Newton instructed. Calleigh pulls out her planner and wrote down all the homework she has been assigned so far.

“Where did you find that?” Rowan asked in amazement of the planner.

“I made it over the weekend” Calleigh quipped at him. Rowan was taken aback by the reaction. “Calleigh, have I upset you?” Calleigh looked at rowan apologetically,

“Rowan no you did not, I am sorry for how rude I have been to you.” Calleigh felt guilty for being mean to rowan. She realized that she never actually gave him a chance. She decided to change that and had an idea.

“Rowan, I am sorry for how rude I have been to you. Maybe if you are not busy or have plans for lunch, we could sit together at lunch.” Calleigh asked apologetically.

“That sounds like a good plan to me. Thanks, Calleigh.”. Rowan said to her with a shy grin. The bell rang, shaking Calleigh out of her trance.

“Alright class, see you all tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your day.” Ms. Newton says as her class bolts out the door. Calleigh and Rowan walk to Calleigh’s locker to put her books away and to head back to Ms. Martin’s room for English. A piece of paper fell out of her locker, Calleigh bent down and picked it up, she then shoved it into her pocket.

“A love letter?” Rowan teased.

“Yeah right nobody would be leaving me a love letter.” Calleigh snorted in response.

“Why would you say that Calleigh?” Rowan inquired with a concerning stare.

“because I am not the type of girl who gets those kinds of things.” Calleigh responded quietly. Rowan didn't say anything in response, he just looked at her quietly. As they entered Ms. In Martin's room again, Calleigh noticed Selene and she gave a wave.

“Hey girlie, you’re assigned behind me and Rowan is beside you.” Selene told Calleigh who let out a small huff as she sat down behind her friend.

“Hello class, welcome to honors English 7, I am Ms. Martin.” Ms. Martin went through class expectations and how many books each student must read throughout the year. As Ms. Martin was talking, Calleigh remembered the note. She pulled the note out and unfolded it and looked at the letter:

Calleigh,

In dark times light feels unobtainable, but not impossible. Confliction is human nature. Your heart is drawn to him, he entices your mind. Be open to the possibilities of him. Trust in the light, he could be the light your heart may need. Rowan is not the enemy, just a conflicted and lost soul: in need of saving.

Rayden

Calleigh stared at the letter, more confused about everything. She wants to trust Rowan, but she can't. She thinks he is the danger that she keeps sensing.

“Groups of four will go to the library to pick out a book or two.” Ms. Martin explained to the class.

Calleigh, Selene, Rowan, and Milo were sent to the library in the first group of students to go. As they were walking towards the library Calleigh grabbed Selene to walk together and so they could talk.

“Selene, do you remember when we were little kids we used to believe in things that couldn't quite be explained?” Calleigh asked. Selene cocked her head at Calleigh and responded

“Of course, CJ, that was before we grew up. Why are you asking about our make-believe stories?” Selene inquired with a perplexing look. Calleigh looked sheepishly and responded with

“No reason Selene was just curious is all.” Selene raised a questioning eyebrow and Calleigh shrugged it off. They all entered the library and Calleigh took a deep breath in and inhaled the books. For some reason she always felt comfort in books. Selene darted off to the romance section of the library, for someone who was such a glass half empty kind of person she sure did enjoy love. Milo wandered off towards the section labeled graphic novels, and Rowan was nowhere in sight. So Calleigh decided to just wander through the endless stacks of books, until she found herself standing in the occult section of the library. As Calleigh was browsing the section of witchcraft, a voice startled her out of her mind.

“So, you believe in magic?” Calleigh jerks around with a startle and is met face to face with an unfamiliar face.

“I actually don’t believe in magic, I just find it intellectually stimulating.” Calleigh quipped back.

“And who are you exactly? Being all lurky and creepy.” Calleigh snidely asked.

“Don't you like a little bit of a good mystery?” the mysterious stranger asked in a coy tone.

“Leave her alone Xander.” Rowan says in a low mean tone. The clipped tone scared Calleigh some, she was not aware of Rowan's presence before he spoke. Calleigh stood confused and just stared back and forth between Rowan and the now named boy.

“So, you two know each other?” Calleigh asked, still confused.

“Not really.” Rowan clipped at her, still staring down Xander. “Ouch little brother, hurt my feelings.” Xander snorts at rowan. The snort was almost a challenge in itself.

Calleigh's mouth fell open as she stammered out the word

“b-b-b-rother?” Before Rowan could say anything Xander jumped in

“yep sure are brothers.”

“half-brothers if we are being technical.” Rowan corrected almost growling.

“Right, well nice to meet you. I am going to just grab this and head out of here.” Calleigh babbles quickly. She grabbed two books off the shelf and rushed away from the very uncomfortable and tense situation that was rising between the two brooding brothers. Rowan watched Calleigh intently as she made her way to the desk and out of sight. He then turned back to his brother,

“What are you doing here Xander? Rowan said in a quiet anger tone.

“Well little brother if you must know, I am here to attend school and get my education. Also, to help you get the girl of course.” Xander chuckled his response.

“If you plan on staying, let me do things my way. Calleigh is none of your business, so stay away from her.” Rowan spouted as he walked away. Selene stood stunned and shocked at the conversation she just overheard. Could it be that someone has a crush on her mousey best friend? She scurried to check out her books and to find CJ. Calleigh sat at her desk staring down at the books she grabbed in a haste off the shelves.

1. “A Witch's Journey” By: Rhonda Blaze

2. “Cults and Mystical Tales” by: Calvin Montgomery

“CJ, we need to have a note and chat asap.” Selene said as she was sliding a folded paper onto Calleigh’s desk.

“Cj, omg you will never guess what i heard in the library!!”

Selene you are never the gossip, what did you hear

“Ok so Rowan was talking to the sexy hot one about……”

About Selene!!!

“YOU!!!”

ME? Why would they be talking about me?

“BECAUSE CJ, ROWAN LIKES YOU!”

Ok Selene, I think you and your sister switched bodies like some freaky friday stuff.

After Calleigh slid the note back to Selene. She looked over at Rowan, who was deep in his book. Calleigh saw the cover of Dante's inferno. She wondered why he chose that particular book. She was pondering hers and Selene’s conversation. The note slid back across her desk. She unfolded it and read the mini novel her best friend wrote.

“CJ no he likes you. His hot companion said “I am here to attend school AND help you get the girl.” Then Rowan responded “Calleigh is none of your business”. So that means he likes you”.

Calleigh rolled her eyes at the mere thought of Rowan liking her. Selene was easily confused and hearing things.

Ok Selene I love you but let's leave this alone! Let's count down until you and I are in 4th period algebra with your sister and jay.

Calleigh had the feeling of being watched, so she looked around. Her eyes landed on Rowan who was looking at her, he smiled at her. Calleigh felt her heart start to pick up the beating in her chest and her face turned a little warmer. She returned the smile but then abruptly turned away.

“DING... Good morning students, I have an announcement. Sports sign ups, along with school clubs are available to sign up for during your lunch and study hall periods. That is all... Ding”

“CJ why are you being so stubborn? You are pretty, smart, and loyal. BUT I will leave this alone for NOW!”

Calleigh smirked at the thought of Selene dropping the subject. She was like a dog with a bone, she never let go. Ten more minutes Calleigh thought, just hold on. A folded piece of paper ended up sliding onto Calleigh’s desk. She didn't look up to see who the note was from. So, she just grabbed it and decided to open the note and read it

Calleigh

Is everything okay with you? You ran out of the library as if your hair was on fire. I truly didn't mean to startle you. If you want a good book about witchcraft you should check out “blessed be” by Marg Asia. I look forward to seeing you around school.

                      Always,

   Xander

Xander? How did he manage to get a note on top of my desk? Calleigh looked around and wondered, so she drew her gaze to Rowan's desk but it was empty. She wondered where he would end up going. Just then the bell rang, letting them know it was time to go to fourth period.  In 4th period Algebra, Calleigh was excited for so many reasons for this class. She loved math but also because she shared this class with her four best friends. She had been patiently waiting for this class all morning. She couldn't help but wonder what class Rowan had for 4th period. Since it was the only class in the morning they did not have it together. Calleigh shook her head, why was she thinking about rowan? She spent most of the morning trying to avoid him and avoiding the thoughts of him.

“Hey CJ, you are here, hurry come sit before someone else sits at this table”. Jay softly yelled to Calleigh. Calleigh smiled and started over to her group of besties, but before she made it all over to them. She noticed Xander staring at her, she looked away sheepishly and walked over to her friends.

“Hey CJ, who was the boy you were staring at”? Jay asked jokingly. Calleigh rolled her eyes at her friend,

“oh, him, that's Xander, Rowan's half-brother. I met him in the library.” Torian and Jay swooned at the sight of him,

“wow he is oooo sooo cute”. They said in unison. Calleigh and Selene both giggled and shook their heads. The last time Jay and Torian fancied the same boy was in kindergarten and it ended with Torian dumping grape juice on Jay's white socks.

“Calleigh, he is staring at you as though you are his long-lost lover”. Torian teased.

“I'll be right back. I want to say something to Xander”. Calleigh told her friends

Calleigh walks over to Xander,

“umm Xander hey what are you doing in this class? How come you wrote me a note? Why does it seem like you and Rowan don’t like each other very much”?

Calleigh rambled and asked. As soon as she was done her cheeks turned instantly pink. Xander smirked and when he did it showed a single dimple in his left cheek before he opened his mouth to respond,

“Hello Calleigh, I am in this class because I enjoy math. I wrote you a note because I felt bad for scaring you and it appeared that we have things in common. Things between Rowan and I are complicated. I think that answered every question you asked” Xander snickered. Calleigh was perplexed by all his answers, she wanted to ask more questions but the teacher was heading to the front of the classroom.

“Good morning class, my name is Mr. Mosby and welcome to algebra 2”. Mr. Mosby introduced himself. Calleigh sat back down with her friends. She couldn't help but be curious about her two brothers.

“First things first class we are going to take an assessment to see where you as a class stand as a whole. When you have finished bringing your assessments up to me and get your textbooks”. Mr. Mosby explained. Calleigh looks at the assessment and then at friends. They all looked as though they were in a nightmare. She smiled and thoroughly enjoyed math and tests. It was simple and made sense.

“Ok class you may begin your assessment”. Mr. Mosby bellowed out. Calleigh breezed through the assessment, she double checked her answers before she stood up and walked to Mr. Mosby's desk. She laid her paper on the desk and smiled at her teacher.

“Hello Ms. Callahan, I have heard great things about you, you are quite intelligent”. Mr. Mosby beamed. Calleigh smiled and replied

“Thank you, Mr., I am really looking forward to this class”. Calleigh went to turn away and head back to her desk when she bumps into Xander. She would have fallen flat if Xander would not have grabbed her and held her steady. With his hands holding her a voice range in her ears

“She is truly a gorgeous beauty but too bad she must die”

“What did you say”? Calleigh questioned

“I didn't say anything Calleigh, are you ok”? Xander asked with a concerned look on his face. “Yes, I am okay, I thought I heard something,” Calleigh replied quickly. Calleigh sat down at her seat and thought about what she heard or read or something. She is going crazy, she didn't understand. One thing she knew was she was to avoid Xander and Rowan. Well at least until she could understand what was going on. She then remembered she invited Rowan to sit with her at lunch. Why was life becoming so weird and complex all of a sudden?  The sound of the bell snapped Calleigh out of her dream. Whew time for lunch time be reunited with friends, she decided to still allow Rowan to sit with her at lunch.
