Silas held his breath as he slipped out of bed and slowly opened his window. He didn't dare make any noise, as Rania was a freak of nature and would probably hear him somehow.

He exhaled in relief as the window opened fully, barely making any noise at all. He looked downwards, the courtyard of the castle completely empty, perfect for his escape. Now he just had to figure out how to get down three stories without breaking anything. He needed his legs to run after all.
He could possibly coat his legs in mana to reduce the fall, but he feared that Rania or someone else would sense the mana fluctuations.
Silas scratched that idea out of his head, then his eyes lit up as he figured out what to do. He tip-toed back to his bed and began pulling the sheets off, and tying them into one long rope. He then quietly tied one end around the leg of his bed, then threw the other end out the window.
'Here I go--Uh!?'
Jumping out the window whilst holding the sheets, Silas slid down at a speed he wished was slower. His feet hit the ground, and sent a shiver up his spine causing him to groan from the pain. But his legs were fine, as demons have pretty tough bodies.
'Ahahaha--I finally did it..'
He stifled a laugh as he silently ran out of the gates of the castle, and into the city. Now all he had to do was stick to the shadowy alleyways of the city to avoid any demons noticing the runaway prince.

Silas pinched his nose as the nauseating smell of rotting flesh filled his nostrils, He hadn't anticipated the alleys of the capital to be in such a state.
He averted his gaze from the soulless eyes of the demons barely hanging on to their lives. The sight of these demons made his chest tighten from the sympathy he felt for them.
Hey, he wasn't soulless, okay? Even though he might come off as selfish he did actually feel sorrow for others. But now was not the time for this as he needed to get out of the Demon Realm.
"Please... coin.." said a small demon child who grabbed Silas's leg. The child had a determined face despite his sickly appearance.
Silas gritted his teeth as he looked at the poor child who was grabbing onto his leg with desperation. He knew he should save his money and move on, but he couldn't resist the poor child's pleas and gave him a few golden coins. Silas knelt down and patted the boys head, smiling.
"Here, take this and go. Hide it so nobody tries to steal it from you."
"H-Huh.. T-Thank you!"
The boy thanked Silas, and then scurried off into the alleyways, shoving the coins into his ragged clothing. Silas felt even worse for the child from how he reacted so surprised at receiving 3 golden coins. Silas knew that it wasn't much, but at least maybe the kid has a chance now. He sighed, then continued to run through the city.
Unbeknownst to Silas, those three golden coins are worth way more than he assumed.

Silas panted as he reached the gate leading outside the capital. He hid behind a wall, seeing guards patrolling the gate. It had been a smooth escape so far, but he had found his second hurdle. How was he supposed to get past two guards without being seen? Or wait, did he have to worry about that? What if he just ran full speed out the gate.. No, the guards might figure out who he is and call his family. He shivered at the thought of his father or Rania chasing after him.
'Damn.. what do I do..?'
Silas gnawed on his finger as he tried to think of a plan. There were huge stone walls around the entire capital, so he couldn't scale them, and the only exits were these huge gates. He noticed himself biting his finger and stopped, chuckling to himself.

'My nervous habit carried over huh?'
He sighed, thinking about his previous life where his parents had to constantly scold him about biting his finger when he was stressed. And whilst he was thinking, the sound of a carriage rolling across the stone road pulled him out of his memories. He peeked around the corner to see a carriage being stopped before it could exit the gate. He noticed the men driving the carriage bribing the guards, and Silas then made a decision.
'Huup!'
Silas ran and jumped onto the back of the carriage climbing inside. The carriage was pitch black, so he felt his way around silently. There were numerous boxes, all sealed and closed. He found an empty barrel and climbed inside, hiding for the time being.
'Hahaha! This is great! I got out of this shitty place! Ahahaha!'
Silas maniacally laughed inside his mind as he reveled in his temporary victory. But that feeling didn't last as he began to think. Where was this carriage going? Who are these people, and what exactly do they do?
He decided that when they stop for rest he'd leave the carriage and run off into the forest. After all, these demons might be headed to places he doesn't want to be discovered in, because Silas is a prime target for kidnapping due to the fact that he is the son of the Demon Lord of Chaos, the strongest out of all 12 Demon Lord's on the continent. Other Demon Lords might want to kidnap him to use him as a bargaining chip.
"Is.. anybody there..?"
Silas froze up in the barrel as he heard a girls voice, bringing him out of his thoughts.
'A girl..? Is she being held captive?'
"H-Hello..?" The girl asked again, her voice shaky.
She sounded afraid, so Silas didn't perceive her as a threat. The most logical thing to do would to remain quiet, and not do anything. But, he couldn't just leave her in this carriage, afraid and alone, so he silently got out of the barrel and headed to her.
'An elf...?'
Silas's eyes widened as he looked at the girl, who seemed to be around his age. She had long elven ears, and long white hair. Her arms and legs were bound by rope, and she had a blindfold on.
"W-Who are yo--??!"
"Shhh.. I'm not an enemy."
Silas swiftly covered her mouth, stopping her from alerting the men driving the carriage. She nodded, calming down, and Silas removed his hand. He removed the ropes binding her, and then tried to remove her blindfold, but she grabbed his arm before he could, whispering to him.
"Y-You can't."
"Why?"
"I-It has magic on it that will hurt you if you try to remove it."
"Huh? Why did they go to that length?"
"M-My eyes are special.."
Silas wanted to ask more, but he needed to get them out as soon as possible. He looked around, then picked her up in his arms. There was no time for thinking of a better plan. He wanted to save the girl if he was able, and he didn't think it would be possible when they stopped.
"Stay quiet and hold on tight, I'm gonna jump out of the carriage." Silas said, and the girl nodded, her arms tightening around his neck.
Silas then ran, and leaped out of the moving carriage, holding her protectively as he rolled across the ground. He didn't look back to see if the carriage stopped, and immediately ran into the forest, holding her in his arms.
"A-Are you all right?"
"Yeah."
He lied. He had landed directly on a big stone, which sliced into his back. He was definitely bleeding, and in pain.
"Liar." The girl said, her cheeks puffing.
"Sigh.. It's only a minor injury." Silas brushed it off, just wanting to rest.
After several more minutes of running, Silas found a cave, and he set her down inside. He then began to gather sticks to start a fire, as the night's cold was seeping into his bones.
It had been a long, long night, and he wanted to end it with a nice rest. This was the only time he missed his bed, but he quickly shook his head, thinking about the hellish things he had to go through.
"U-Uhm.."
Silas ignored her, focusing on making the fire. He was rubbing the sticks together, but the damn things wouldn't ignite. He really wished that he could learn fire spells, but the dark mana that coursed through his body was too chaotic for most elements. Plus, he hadn't even formed his first core yet, so there was no hope of using any spells, other than coating things in mana.
"Mister..?"
'Oh my god.. START! BURN! FIRE! IGNITE! GAAH!'
Silas gritted his teeth as the rage boiled inside of him. He couldn't get the damn fire to start at all. And the girl calling him kept making him lose focus.
Silas threw the sticks down and fell back in defeat. He groaned, angry at his lack of fire starting skills.
"Listen.."
"What!?"
Silas said in an irritated tone, and instantly felt bad for his outburst. He sat up, sighing, He should apologize.
"Sor--"
"Ignite."
'Hahaha.... Are you fucking kidding me?!'
Silas laughed crazily as he watched the blindfolded girl easily cast a fire spell on the logs in front of him. He had been trying to get the fire going for two hours. Two Hours. And this girl suddenly snapped her fingers and it started. Great. That's awesome.
"Why didn't you do that before?"
Silas asked, slightly irritated, but was instantly shut down.
"Because you didn't answer me." The girl pouted, crossing her arms over her chest and looking away from him.
She had a point.
