The boy

In my whole life, I have always been perfect. No matter what the challenge was, it was never a hurdle for me. But, I had never imagined that I would taste defeat on the most important day of my whole life, and that too by an unknown commoner.

My name is Scarlet Ambrosia, the third princess of the kingdom of Zenith. Ever since my birth, I was considered a prodigy and the entire royal family and their followers were my well-wishers. My family believed in my potential to become a high priestess or even a spiritual leader like the pope. Moreover, I have dedicated my whole life, training and polishing my skills to remain a genius.

Our world, Zion is blooming because of the seven gods, and with utter faith, a person can achieve anything in this world. Being blessed, I always thought that I was the chosen one. But how come a complete nobody shook my dreams.

The world has seven kingdoms, and every land worships one of the seven gods. The nations might be ruled by the royalties but, the real power lies in the hand of the clergy, as they are the ones who have established a direct connection with the gods.

In the kingdom of Zenith, each year the people graduate from Arcadia academy, the most prestigious spiritual school in Zenith. But, only a handful of graduates can join the clergy.

Being a princess and a genius, I was expected to be the representative of the freshers. Instead, in the written exams, I came second to an unknown boy, who scored an impossible perfect score and set a new record in the academy.

Even though you have done a fantastic job for a commoner, just wait and watch how I show you the real world in the upcoming physical test.

"Your highness, it is time to leave for the training grounds." A voice made Scarlet snap out of her thoughts.

"Are the match-ups for the physical test announced yet?" Scarlet asked her most loyal follower and friend Evelyn Rivera.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

"Yes your highness, it has been displayed on the training grounds, and your group bracket matches are as easy as a walk in the park" replied Evelyn.

"Is that boy in my bracket?” Scarlet inquired with a sharp look at Evelyn.

"No your highness! But you need not worry as he is matched up against Sir Alphonse in the first round. Sir Alphonse will show that commoner his place and prove that the results of the written exams were a mere fluke."

Scarlet pondered for a while, and without saying a word, she walked towards the training grounds.

----------------------------------------

The training ground is full of enthusiastic participants preparing for their upcoming matches. However, a single silver-haired boy is standing at the corner, completely detached from his hyper-active surroundings.

A blonde masculine man approaches the boy.

"Hey, there trash! Why are you feeling low standing at that corner? I know that you are afraid of the fact that you are up against one of princess Scarlet's top retainers, the mighty Sir Alphonse."

The boy gives a look to Alphonse, ignores him and then walks away towards the arena.

"You bastard! I am gonna KILL YOU!" Alphonse murmurs and then walks away.

The arena is filled with distinguished royals and nobles from all over Zenith, to witness the future talents of Arcadia.

"Behold King Ashfield Ambrosia along with distinguished priests from the church are entering" announced the headmaster. Everyone in the audience bows down and waits for the king to take a seat. The headmaster commences the exam and signals the first two competitors to take the stage.

Both the competitors take the stage and then suddenly...

"Dear people of Zenith, I pledge on the name of princess that I will beat this commoner in just three moves and prove that his earlier perfect score it the written exam was a complete fluke."

The audience follows up to Alphonse's words by cheering him up. The bell rings...

Alphonse takes a stance to launch a swing, and at the very next moment, the silver-haired boy suddenly appears in front of him covering the distance between him and Alphonse in no-time.

Baffled by the boy's reaction time, Alphonse takes a step back, and the very next moment he is lying on the ground unconscious.

The whole arena becomes silent, and everyone looks at the boy, confused by the unexpected turn of events.

The headmaster raises his hand and declares the winner of the match, 'Teohr Cassiel.'
