Chapter 25

[Daily cat-petting check-in, daily blacklisting of Research Department masks check-in.]

[I have a classmate who went to the Imperial Research Department for study. They said there are about 80 research task groups in total. Due to many confidential projects, they're usually not allowed out or to contact the outside world. They only have a local network, with just one light brain per group connected to the external star network.]

[So out of over 80 computers, 62 attempted to pet the cat and got blacklisted?]

[Tragic, tragic, tragic. It breaks the hearts of those who hear it and brings tears to the eyes of those who see it.]

[The Research Department has been almost completely wiped out, huh.]

[Not being able to pet a cat when there's one around, that's karma.]

[Maybe they should ask Marshal Ji why he dislikes them so much. Wonder if it's too late to apologize and make amends.]

[Probably too late. After all, this lawsuit involves someone from the Research Department attempting to obtain the Marshal's blood sample. That's quite hateful indeed, and the nature of it is quite vicious. Judging by the Marshal's attitude, he seems prepared to fight to the bitter end.]

[To the innocent masses in the Research Department, I offer you my polite sympathies.]

[If you want to pet the cat, you could always choose to resign and defect, hahaha!]

[Once you're in the Research Department, it's hard to get out. Politely expressing my sympathy.]

[How many times have they changed their masks now...?]

[Perhaps after countless blockings, the Research Department will add a new course in network engineering.]

[Shut up, you guys, haha! Takes a big sniff of little Yue'an Not at home today?]

Yue'an closed the blacklist interface and glanced at this comment, "Meow!"

The white furball stretched out his paw under the soft, warm light, opened the menu on the table, poked the first dish, then pointed at the holographic projection of the dish, meowing at the camera.

[Outside? Don't know what to order?]

"Meow!"

[Where's the Marshal?]

[The Marshal has his second court session today, right?]

[As if the Marshal has appeared other than that first accidental on-camera appearance...]

[Can't believe they let little Yue'an out alone!]

[Judging by the decor, isn't this that ancient Earth-style restaurant in the imperial capital?]

[Wow, that's so close! I'm heading out to steal the cat right now!]

[Cat thieves beware of being beaten to death by the Marshal. Little Yue'an is still waiting for us to help with ordering.]

Yue'an watched as dish names popped up one after another in the comments. His little paw unhesitatingly tapped the menu, confirming dishes in a smooth, uninterrupted sequence.

Similarly, the money spent flowed out smoothly without a hint of hesitation.

The Marshal, having just finished lunch and preparing for the afternoon tug-of-war with the Head of the Research Department, had barely stood up when he saw another huge expense pop up on his wristband.

When it came to buying food, Yue'an was never stingy, always making people deeply feel his enthusiasm for gastronomic pleasures.

Ji Xiuyun glanced at the place of consumption, then called over the Seventh Legion Commander, who was on leave and had nothing better to do than to accompany him to court, asking him to keep an eye on Yue'an's livestream.

Although he was well aware of and fully trusted Yue'an's abilities, the Marshal still found it hard to control his worry.

After all, Yue'an had just been introduced to human society and was naive and easily fooled. Although he was indeed powerful, there was still a possibility of things going wrong.

Even he, a person who had been navigating the political pinnacle for years, had almost messed up before. How could such a delicate and obedient little cat like Yue'an outmaneuver humans with their endless schemes and malicious intentions?

The Marshal very self-centeredly ignored Yue'an's three days of sulking, applying words like delicate, obedient, and weak to his cat.

"Watch carefully, notify me immediately if there's anything unusual," Ji Xiuyun said to the grimacing Seventh Legion Commander. "It's a good chance to treat your psychological trauma."

The Seventh Legion Commander agreed with a face full of pain.

What else could he do?

Of course, he had to choose to forgive him!

As the person who had been trampled by Yue'an the most times, the Seventh Legion Commander had repeatedly questioned his life choices, almost to the point where he would change color at the mere mention of cats.

These days had been utterly miserable for him.

You should know that the last cat in the universe had unimaginably high popularity among the masses. Walking on the street, in virtual communities, in shopping malls... anywhere with people and big screens, you could look up and see Yue'an meowing cutely in front of the camera.

These humans could spend an entire day just watching a cat sprawl out on its little belly and purr in its sleep!

The Seventh Legion Commander could only find a few moments of cold comfort hiding at home.

Now, because he was so bored that he came out to find the Marshal, he had directly lost even those last few bits of cold comfort.

The Seventh Legion Commander opened the livestream while thinking, you shallow humans, ignoring all the handsome guys and pretty girls, obsessing over a ball of fluff every day, you're bound to come to no good end.

You have no idea how fierce this ball of fluff can be in a fight!!

Yue'an's livestream was quite lively. Probably because Yue'an had been streaming for long hours these past few days, those VIP viewers who camped in the livestream daily had gotten to know each other a bit.

This small and subtle friendship mostly came from their mutual efforts to improve their cat language levels - after all, Yue'an couldn't communicate with them, so they either had to guess by themselves or chat with others in the livestream.

For instance, when Yue'an was eating, this group of people acted as food commentators.

[This Crystal Flower dish used to be called White Fungus and Lotus Seed Soup in ancient Earth times. It has a sweet taste that cleanses the palate. After deep stewing, it melts in your mouth. Those with a sweet tooth can add a few pure sugar crystals, making the flavor indescribably delicious.]

[This Starry Ocean Flow dish was called Squid Ink Pasta on ancient Earth...]

Yue'an's ears twitched as he slurped his noodles, watching the exaggerated praises in the comments.

Yue'an was the type who, no matter how delicious the food was, couldn't come up with more than a word or two of evaluation. After finishing, his thoughts were simply: Not bad, delicious, fantastic, heavenly.

The white furball licked the black sauce from his mouth, pondered for a while, and finally could only think of the words "tasty" to describe it.

[Even with black sauce on his face, little Yue'an is so cute, wuwuwu.]

[I've been looking up information about ancient Earth cats recently, and found out there's a color pattern called "snow-treading white" among pet cats. Ah, it's super cute!]

[I've also been researching ancient Earth cats recently, and it says for male cats, they can be prepared for... neutering... at six months old...]

[???]

[Neutering??]

[Yes... apparently it's good for their health and can prevent many diseases.]

[...How old is little Yue'an?]

Yue'an looked up at the comments.

"Meow!"

[Our company has started putting holographic sensors on everyone's desk, playing Yue'an's livestream videos all day. They say it's to help us relieve the stress of overtime work o<-<]

[Your boss is really going to all lengths to make you work overtime.]

[But to be honest, it really does reduce stress. It's super relaxing to squeeze paw pads and stroke fur, you can empty your mind and take a break.]

Yue'an looked at these comments, slurped up the last noodle, then stretched out his paw towards the camera.

"Meow~"

[Aww, our little Yue'an is so thoughtful. Frantically squeezes paw pads and kisses little paws]

[Let's send money to little Yue'an!!]

[Send money, send money, send money! This whole table of food is bought with the money we gave!]

[Feeling smug. It seems the Marshal's presence as the real owner has been infinitely flopped.]

[Hahaha, doesn't need his money, doesn't need his food, actually doesn't even need his house. Come to think of it, the Marshal seems to only have his face left.]

Yue'an glanced at this comment, puzzled for two seconds, then stretched out his paw to poke the comment. He turned his head to the camera, expressing his confusion: "Meow?"

What do they mean by "only has his face left"?

Ji Xiuyun is so ugly!!

Only a kind, cute, obedient, and gentle little cat like me doesn't mind him.

[Little Yue'an can earn money for food and housing himself... oh wait, Little Yue'an doesn't have a household registration, he can't buy a house.]

[Marshal's presence +1]

[Without household registration, he can't open an account. Even with money, he can't spend it.]

[Marshal's presence +2]

[Shut up, our Marshal could conquer the entire galaxy with just his face!]

[That's right, being the dream lover of billions of young girls is no joke.]

[Why only count young girls? You're making it difficult for us spring-hearted young men!]

[...Ah, when you put it that way, the Marshal is still very competitive... right?]

Yue'an was unexpectedly hit with a face full of praise from the Marshal's fans in the comments.

They praised his military exploits, his resume, his strength, his face, his body. Even Ji Xiuyun's eternally unchanged ice-block face and all-black outfit were praised as a practical embodiment of strength and style.

One of the VIP viewers with the name "Your Seventh Daddy" had lightning-fast typing speed, frantically spamming the comment section. They were well-versed in every bit of Ji Xiuyun's battle achievements and accomplishments, praising the Marshal from head to toe in a comprehensive, no-blind-spot manner.

Yue'an began to question his cat life.

Is Ji Xiuyun really that good-looking?

Isn't the handsome one supposed to be his human form that looks like a beautiful young man?

How is Ji Xiuyun's over-two-meter-tall, long-limbed, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, muscle-packed body considered good-looking?!

Although he does look very powerful, isn't it the slender, delicate-featured pretty boys who are most popular in human aesthetics?

They actually think Ji Xiuyun is good-looking!

And a dream lover of billions of young girls??

The white furball squatted on the dining table, staring at the comment bubbles, and couldn't help but start seriously contemplating his cat life.

The Seventh Legion Commander, feeling refreshed after praising the Marshal, saw Yue'an staring intently at the comment section and suddenly felt his scalp tighten. He panicked.

Had he been recognized?!

No, no, it doesn't matter even if he was recognized!

What's wrong with praising the Marshal a bit!

Doesn't the Marshal deserve praise?!

Thinking this, the Seventh Legion Commander immediately perked up again.

[If the Marshal ever publicly seeks marriage, the line of girls wanting to marry him would wrap around the First Star System twice!]

The comment section suddenly fell silent for two seconds, then exploded.

[No, no, no, impossible. I think the Marshal has already married the Silver Blade.]

[I think the Marshal has decided to spend his life with the cat.]

[...I feel like the Marshal is probably the type to remain single for life, or he'd find someone with insane combat power who could go to the battlefield with him (:з」∠)]

[...??? Why???]

[It's the aura.]

[Yeah, the aura.]

[Speaking of which, does our Marshal have a higher possibility of falling for a boy?]

[Little Yue'an is a boy! A boy with insane combat power who can go to the battlefield together!!]

[Right! Tearing apart mechs with bare hands! Kicking battleships! Pinning down enemies and frantically rubbing them into the ground!]

[A man, a cat, and a mech, galloping through the stars and universe together, wouldn't that be beautiful!]

[Holy crap?]

[Stop it, you guys!]

No, no, wait!

Hold on a minute!

I still want to hold a little Marshal Jr. in my lifetime!

The Seventh Legion Commander was absolutely dumbfounded. Just as he was about to struggle further, the livestream in front of him suddenly went black.

A flood of question marks filled the comment section.

Yue'an had turned off the livestream before finishing his meal, which was unprecedented - he had been seriously reading the comments just moments ago.

The Seventh Legion Commander remembered Ji Xiuyun's instruction to report any anomalies, so he quietly waited for five minutes.

Five minutes passed, and the screen still showed nothing.

The Seventh Legion Commander sprang to his feet, grabbed his light brain, and left the private room.

Yue'an lowered his head, using his little paw to fiddle with the camera that had suddenly fallen onto the table. The camera seemed to have run out of energy, not moving at all.

The white furball's ears twitched. He hooked the camera and stuffed it back into the cat-shaped light brain hanging around his neck. Then he turned around, staring unblinkingly at the door, his ears pricked forward, his front paws slightly bent in a crouching position, looking ready to pounce.

He detected several breathing sounds and some mechanical equipment operating at the door.

The aroma of the dishes on the table lingered around his nose, along with a faint smell wafting in from outside the door... the scent of catnip.

Yue'an: ...

Yue'an: ????

Catnip???

Ji Xiuyun received the news and immediately decided to abandon this court session and leave directly.

But just as he took a step, he received a communication request from Yue'an.

In the projection, Yue'an was squatting on the chest of an unconscious man, surrounded by battle robots he had torn to shreds, and several other humans lying unconscious on the ground.

Scattered around were the remains of some capture equipment, still bearing the Research Department's markings.

Ji Xiuyun's face suddenly darkened, his sharp glare cutting towards the Head of the Research Department like a physical blade.

The Head of the Research Department's face turned the color of pig liver, also looking quite shocked - he seemed to be unaware of this.

In the projection, Yue'an was licking his paw, with a vial containing some green liquid, apparently some kind of reagent, placed in front of him.

The white furball looked high as a kite, so excited that his claws, capable of easily slashing through mech armor, were extended.

"Yue'an?" Ji Xiuyun called out to him, scanning Yue'an for any marks, "Are you hurt?"

Yue'an shook his fur, obligingly turned in a circle to let Ji Xiuyun confirm he had no injuries, then slapped a paw on the chest of the man beneath him: "Meow!"

The Marshal watched as the man twitched from the paw slap, conservatively estimating that a rib or two must have been broken. He fell silent for two seconds before asking, "What happened?"

Yue'an extended a paw to poke at the catnip-scented reagent in front of him, pushing it closer to the camera.

"Meow!"

"Wait there. Be careful not to let anyone near you, and don't let anyone leave," Ji Xiuyun said, seeing the reagent and noticing Yue'an's obviously excited state from its influence. He immediately became angry, "Keep the communication open, I'll be there right away."

"Meow." Yue'an responded, continuing to play with the vial, rolling it back and forth.

He had pretty much guessed how these people's brains worked.

They probably learned about catnip from some data, knowing it was effective on half of all feline species. So they concocted a reagent mimicking its scent, planning to catch him in one fell swoop while he was high and his body was out of control.

But very unfortunately for them.

Yue'an was a supernatural being, and didn't have such a strong reaction to catnip.

And when he was just an ordinary little cat, he belonged to the rare type that would start frantically destroying everything around him when high.

Smelling the scent of catnip for the first time in decades, Yue'an did feel somewhat excited.

He couldn't help but jump hard a couple of times on the chest of the leading man he had caught, watching as the man's face started turning bluish-black from the spasms. Yue'an's ears drooped in disappointment.

When this cat jumps around wildly on Ji Xiuyun, his expression doesn't even change!

A bunch of lowly commoners!

Not even half of Ji Xiuyun's level, yet they dare to try and catch this emperor!

Did Fish Leong give you this courage?
