Vol 3 Chapter 2 – Encounter

Vol 3 Chapter 2 – Encounter

Part 1

Kallamore was a kingdom which was constantly under attack from monsters. However this did not mean that monsters specifically attacked Tellap every week. Rather, it meant that every week some place in the kingdom was being besieged by monsters.

Every few months a massive gathering of monsters would occur and challenge Kallamore’s main defence army at a plain between the mountains. After clashing with the defence the enemy numbers would be greatly diminished.

However, they were not completely eradicated. Remnants would slip past the main army and travel deeper into the kingdom. As they went deeper, the remnants would reorganise themselves, gain reinforcements from local monster villages eventually forming into small armies. The monster armies that had just recently sieged Tellap and Naidiriv were examples of such remnants.

Thus frequent clashes with such armies were actually common place for frontier towns like Tellap and Naidiriv…

***

Without making a conscious effort towards it, devoting some of his time to Royal Road had become part of Godou’s daily routine.

Helping the towns people rebuild, hanging out with various acquaintances at pubs or simply helping them complete quests or hunt monsters. His time playing had eventually devolved from adventuring from place to place to simply staying in the same town most of the time.

Occasionally, monster armies had been sighted in the area and punitive forces had been created to wipe them out. Although he had joined a punitive force previously before, this time Godou had decided against participating unless it was necessary.

Although Kallamore was a fighting Kingdom, there were still plenty of players who chose not to fight and worked in the production industry. With the town of Tellap so damaged as well, priority should be placed on repairing the town instead of creating fights with monsters. Now that he had more or less adapted to Royal Road, Godou had realised that the game wasn’t all about fighting.

Monsters were also individuals in their own right just like the human NPCs. Like humans, the monsters with intelligence simply fought to gain more space to live in and more resources to use. Thinking about it carefully, monsters were no different from the other races and deserved to have a fair go.

Nevertheless, Godou’s benevolence did not extend to simply lying down and allowing monsters to trample all over him. He was not that kind of generous person. He would refrain from hunting monsters with a legitimate need or reason. Since he was unable to gain experience from killing normal monsters anyway, this did not affect his growth majorly.

That being said, if he was attacked first then retaliating in self-defence simply couldn’t be helped…

Using such reasoning, Godou’s stance of pacifism officially made its way in the world of Versailles.

On a side note, Ferrex’s increasing moments of solitude and silence were starting to worry Godou. The more Godou learnt about Royal Road in general, the more troubled Ferrex seemed to be. It seemed to be the trivial things which troubled him though.

For example, the other day Godou had hunting with Misa and Inori again, Ferrex reacted to one of Misa’s stories about famous players in other Kingdoms muttering:

[…This person sounds familiar. Why do I feel like I know them? I have been in this town for 8 years…]

There was another time when Godou had been discussing the frequency of monster attacks with Badas when Godou had heard Ferrex reasoning with himself:

[… This also conflicts with my knowledge… no, I must be mistaken. The textbooks in the church must be out of date…]

Although Godou knew that Ferrex was troubled out from all the things that had happened to him, he didn’t know what he could do to help Ferrex. Doing something like seeing a therapist would probably help but Godou knew no-one who could help Ferrex while he was in his current half-dead state. He had suggested consulting Lexus about the issue but Ferrex had adamantly refused for some reason.

Rather than Ferrex’s mind being affected, Godou suspected that Ferrex’s issue had to do with the stress that he had undergone through so far. After he had lost his body, Ferrex had continued to help Godou in various ways either by helping him get used to his skills or by providing him with information. Additionally, Godou knew that Ferrex was trying to figure out a way of recreating his physical body.

Like an athlete overworking themselves with practice, negative repercussions were starting to affect Ferrex’s psyche. Suspecting that was the case, Godou had told Ferrex to try and relax a little before but he didn’t know if the message had gotten through to him.

Speaking of people overworking themselves, Godou was reminded of a certain acquaintance who was keen on pushing their body past the limit.

It was on a certain day that Godou was making his way towards them for his usual visit.

Part 2

(Note: At this point in time, Godou still thinks that Hel is male.)

The incident with Knite had caused a major impact on Tellap’s defence. However, perhaps due to Knite’s diligence, the amount of lasting damage was surprisingly few. Despite this, Godou didn’t think that he was ready to forgive Knite for what he had done just yet.

Godou’s sense of guilt also weighted down his heart since he was also one of the causes of Knite’s arrival. There were two individuals who were most affected by the incident. The Kallamore Knights: Hel Bladerton and Badas Sky.

Ever since siege ended, Godou had been diligently visiting the two Kallamore Knights whenever he logged on to show his gratitude and give his condolences.

As a result of being forced to use self-damaging techniques, those two had been effectively hospitalised and restricted from undertaking in strenuous exercises.

When Godou asked about their technique, he had been given a brief explanation.

The name of their technique was called [Blood Burn Aura]. It was a technique passed down by Badas’s teacher who in turn had managed to pass it down to Hel. Apparently the skill was actually based off a Saint Knight skill which greatly increased power but in exchange took the user’s life.

Badas’s teacher had adapted the technique and restricted its abilities into 8 stages. Each stage gave more power and inflicted for more self-damage than the previous stage with the 8thstage completely consuming the user and claiming their life, theoretically anyway.

Badas’s teacher had only developed up to the 7th stage before becoming crippled by that technique. Though apparently he was still alive and making a living somewhere in the town as a pub owner.

Apparently, Badas himself had first reached the 8th stage in desperation when fighting against a fully grown dragon. That time he had to be revived with a [Resurrection] spell afterwards. Additionally, upon revival, Badas had lost the ability to control a large portion of his aura. However, at that point he was still able to maintain his level of strength by compensating with experience and the abilities he gained from dragonslaying.

However, this time, Badas had not been so lucky. Being revived again after using this double edged sword technique, Badas had completely lost the ability to control aura and mana. Additionally his aura had become colourless and lost its unique characteristics becoming incredibly difficult for Godou to sense. It was almost as if it completely vanished.

As a result of this loss, Badas had been forced to retire from the frontlines. That being said, he did seem that bummed out about it and actually got a promotion to a desk job according to what Godou had heard.

Hel’s case was less severe due to the fact that she had only recently gained access to the technique. Nevertheless, her body was still weak and needed time to recover. Badas also said mentioned something about Hel’s body reaching an ascended state but refrained from mentioning anything else about the issue.

Magic had been used in an attempt to heal both knights but so far all attempts had been unsuccessful.

Both of the Knights were currently residing in the town Keep and forbidden by the healers from moving around excessively.

The first time he had visited, Godou had thought of bring Get-well-soon gifts but since Kallamore didn’t have such a tradition and Inori had, for some reason, warned him that the gift could get misinterpreted, Godou had decided against it.

Nodding to the guards next to the door, Godou entered the town Keep and made his way to the common room the Knights usually loitered around during the day.

As he approached the room he heard the sounds of voices.

“Tch. What a dirty move.”

“You’re 10 years too early to try and beat me!”

“I surrender. This is my loss.”

“I refuse to accept your surrender until I completely destroy all your forces!”

“Eh… That’s just cruel!”

“Muhahahahaha! All is fair in love and war!”

Entering the room he found the master and disciple pair simultaneously playing chess and Old Maid on a table next to a window.

Hel was sporting a frown of vexation whilst Badas a displayed a smirk akin to a predator toying with its prey.

The common room of the keep was something akin to a recreational area for the higher ranking soldiers and nobles. While the furniture there was crafted with comfort in mind, the room overall favoured practicality hence the decorations in the room were rather subdued. Since Tellap’s defence was in somewhat of a crisis with the damage done to the town, the room was mostly empty.

“Excuse me.”

Excusing himself, Godou joined the knights at the table.

“Ah Godou. You have arrived just in time to witness me give Hel another crushing defeat.”

“I… Greetings… You finally decided to show your face again Godou.”

Badas responded with frivolousness which he never showed on the battlefield while Hel’s gave a somewhat stiff, formal greeting in return.

Both Knights wore standard issue tunics and leggings which were the something akin to the basic uniform of Kallamore Knights. Bandages could be seen peeking out from under the Hel’s clothes whilst Badas had a pair of clutches leaning against his chair.

Conversely, Godou himself was just wearing simple cloth clothes that the church of Freya had donated to him.

After his first hunting experience in a while with Inori and Misa, Godou had his high level equipment stashed away in his inventory. Unless he ran into a foe that outstripped him greatly in all aspects, Godou would refrain from using the equipment.

Becoming overly reliant on this type of borrowed power would only dull his fangs. That was the sort of impression Godou had gotten. After all, his skill proficiencies were all hopelessly underdeveloped compared to his level.

Apart from the equipment and some supplies, his inventory contained little else. Rather than hoarding up everything he could find, Godou was one to appreciate the space provided by only having the bare necessities.

“Now where were we? Ah… crapsticks!”

“What’s wrong master? Are you losing your touch? You’re the one who wanted this to continue.”

Badas swore as he somehow took the Old Maid card from Hel’s hands. Pokerfaced, Hel then proceeded to verbally jab her master with a degree of intimacy clearly different from the way she treated Godou.

“What’s the penalty for losing this time?”

Somewhat bemused, Godou had asked innocently.

The first time he visited, Hel had been trying to practice swordplay but ended up getting scolded by a passing doctor. Afterwards, whenever he visited the Knights they had either been undertaking penalty games or performing such outlandish acts that he didn’t know what to think.

The current situation was obviously the former though for some reason the two knights seemed to be fighting harder than Godou had seen previously.

It was clear to Godou that the two Kallamore Knights were bored out of their minds.

There was so much work to be done and yet they had been forbidden from helping out in fear that their conditions would worsen. Godou didn’t know the details but apparently the two had become, or rather, were, a major cornerstone to Kallamore’s military.

Godou could understand Badas’s status due to his former strength and experience but he wondered about Hel… Was it simply because she learnt [Blood Burn Aura] or was it something else? Anyway, since the issue didn’t involve him, Godou had stuck his nose out of it.

Considering all this, Godou felt sorry for the two.

Given their mindsets, it must be tantalising for them to simply do nothing all day. As an athletically inclined person, Godou could sort of understand how restless the Knights must feel being forced to stay in the same place for so long.

For that, Godou pitied the knights.

“~The loser has to go to the soldier barracks to retrieve and fill out the piled up paperwork while the winner gets to slouch around and do nothing~”

“I want my pity back…”

I take back everything I thought! Unaware of Godou’s thoughts, Badas gave a light-hearted response.

Sometime later, the results of the penalty game were made clear. Pitted against a more experienced person, Hel obviously lost and was made to perform the penalty. Though in hindsight, it was clear that Hel was going to have to perform the penalty anyway since Badas clearly couldn’t carry anything in his current condition.

As Hel got ready to leave, Badas gave her some additional options.

“I don’t mind to you take detours. However, you must come back with everything before lunch!”

“Detours?”

“Hel… You are at an age where you must enjoy your springtime of youth!”

“…W–What? For what reason?”

Badas gave Hel the thumbs up and a wide-tooth grin after saying that. Seeing Hel clearly bewildered by his usual strange changes in pace, Badas signed and gave Hel a serious explanation.

“Understanding what pleasures your comrades and subordinates pursue will allow you to forge an easier connection with them. To do that, you need to know how to have fun.”

“Ah… I see. You are wise, master. That is why you always seem to play whenever I’m not around.”

 “Y–Yes, exactly!”

After scratching the back of his head after giving his disciple some dubious advice, Badas coughed and then continued.

“You are inexperienced in these matters but fortunately there is an expert right here?”

“Huh?”

Godou was baffled at why the Knight’s suddenly turned to stare at him at those words.

“…Godou, I will be in your care then.”

“Wait! Expert? I have no idea what you’re talking about!”

The sight of Hel coyly asking for guidance contrasted greatly with her usual brazen attitude towards him. Nevertheless, Godou felt the need to hastily rebuke Badas’s words. He sensed that there was a misunderstanding of some sort.

“Well, from the rumours I’ve you are a good example of someone who enjoys life easily.”

“What rumours?”

Godou had a bad feeling about this.

“Oh, you know… stuff like your gambling antics have started to become something like an urban legend around here.”

“Guh…”

“Well… Luck is an important factor on the battlefield…”

Although Godou couldn’t deny that specific rumour, Hel tried to defend him for him for some reason.

“Oh another one that started recently is that you regularly started to take two young girls into the woods alone and come back hours later all exhausted.”

“Oi! What’s with that misleading choice of words! Obviously we were hunting monsters!”

“…”

Was it just his imagination or had Hel’s stare had suddenly dropped a few degrees in temperature?

“There’s another one on who you manage to quickly get intimate with any female you come in contact with.”

“Even if it’s true that I have a number of female acquaintances, in the end all of them are just my friends! I am definitely not embroiled in the bizarre mess of relationships you are implying!”

“I… to think I misunderstood your personality so greatly…”

“Hmmm? Was that rumour actually true?”

The forcefulness of Godou’s response seemed to have worked the opposite of his original intention. Hel stared at him with an expression half-way between shock and disappointment whilst Badas gave him a look of amazement.

It took him some time and effort afterwards for Godou to clear this misunderstanding.

Part 3

“Despite all that he’s been through, I’m still surprised that Badas can still act so naturally.”

“Well, master has always been one to change between moods quickly.”

Currently, Godou and Hel were making their way through the town towards the Barracks. Although Badas had bid them farewell with jokes about having fun detours, given the two people involved in this trip, the likelihood of such detours occurring were actually pretty low.

Despite the rumours, Godou considered himself to having a serious temperament to most things. While there had been times when he had acted in easy-going ways which contradicted this image, ultimately those actions were the result of him being taken away by the attitudes of the people around him. In other words, he had simply gone with the flow.

Hel was a knight with a serious disposition. At the surface she seemed like the all work no play sort of character. While Godou knew that her character actually had more depth to it, he couldn’t deny that the core of Hel’s being was a one track mind to finish her assigned tasks.

With such an earnest companion, obviously Godou was not going to be easy swayed into partaking in questionable activities.

On the trip to the Barracks, the two enjoyed the eventful atmosphere and fresh air of the town, occasionally stopping to look at goods in stalls and shops.

Whilst enjoying the thrill of window shopping, the duo also made conversation. Perhaps as a result of being able to walk around outside for the first time in a while, Hel’s mood seemed to have improved since she seemed more energetic than previously.

The topics of the conversation ranged from various things: from the current status of the town, to their own past experiences, to interesting items in stalls that they recently passed by; such topics drifted in and out of their conversations easily.

“You probably don’t know it but master has always been an oddball. I actually didn’t think much of him myself until I saw him slay a dragon on our first mission.”

“That’s a story I’ve heard before. How strong are dragons though?”

As Hel unreservedly spoke about Badas’s achievements, Godou couldn’t help but find himself interested in the topic for some reason.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

“The strength of dragons depends on their age. Immature ones are tolerable but there had been no reports of a human being able to single-handily slay a fully grown one. Well, until master that is.”

“Is there anything you can use as a comparison of strength?”

Godou actually wasn’t sure why he was so interested on this topic. Hel’s browsed the contents of a sale of the shop of a dress tailor for several seconds before belatedly answering him.

“… I cannot use Knite as a comparison since that guy’s level of strength is simply that impossibly strong that nothing could be compared to him. Well… I guess the closest comparison I can make is to the Holy Spirit Gegorus at full power. But considering that Gegorus is both a high ranking spirit and a minor god, a fully grown dragon would be slightly weaker? ”

“Gegorus huh…”

Godou recalled the holy spirit which Inori was contracted to.

Appearing with a haughty introduction but quickly becoming submissive the moment he noticed Knite… from the brief impression he had gotten from meeting Gegorus, Godou had felt that the holy spirit was someone who wagged their tail to the strong.

Nevertheless Gegorus’s strength was the real deal. Although Knite had been playing around most of the time, Gegorus had still managed to barely keep up with Knite for several minutes.

Godou shuddered as he remembered how horrifying Knite had been to fight.

Closing the distance of several tens of metres in an instant as well as being capable of performing a variety of devastating moves if given the chance… It was only through a combination a large number of chance factors that Godou had been able to win.

All in all, it was certainly not a fight Godou was keen on repeating.

Roughly, Gegorus at full power was roughly on the same level of Godou with [Gift of the Overlord] active in terms of pure power.

If a fully grown dragon was that strong then Godou was sure that one would be a terrifying opponent to be pitted against…

Eventually the duo reached Tellap’s military barracks.

Going inside Hel spoke to various officers and retrieved the required paperwork. In total, the stack of paperwork actually amounted to something quite large.

“Just what were you doing when all this was being piled up?”

“To be fair we only received a notification about all this today.”

Looking at the stack of accumulated work to do done, Godou couldn’t helped asking the question. Shrugging, Hel had simply responded while moving to pick up the stack with the intention of moving the paperwork back to the Keep to fill out.

As he saw Hel do that, Godou moved to stop her, instead volunteering to carry the load himself.

“My strength is probably higher than yours you know!”

“Nonsense. What sort of person would I be if I let an injured friend carry something heavy?”

Indignantly, Hel had tried to perform the act herself but eventually stopped in the face of Godou’s continual insistence.

Thus the two started the return trip to the town Keep. On the way, Godou noticed Hel staring ruefully at the same female clothing shop sale as before.

“Hel, do you have a habit of cross-dressing or something?”

Although he didn’t have such interests himself, given Godou’s wide network of strange acquaintances both in real life and in Royal Road, he could easy accept having such a hobby.

“H–How rude! The only reason I wear male clothes is because it is my uniform. Besides, wearing skirts on a battlefield just doesn’t sit well with me. I–I know I don’t look good in dresses so… Godou?”

Despite Hel’s sudden desperate outburst of excuses, Godou’s mind had stopped working half-way through her explanation. More accurately, he had stopped listening at “male clothes”.

If cross-dressing equated to male clothes for Hel then–

“You’re a girl?!!!”

“Y–You just realised?!!!!”

This revelation blew Godou’s mind into turmoil as he recalled all the times he had intimately gotten close to Hel like he would with any male friend.

Now that he thought about it, that was actually a common occurrence. He had lost track on how many of such occurrences had occurred.

Looking at it carefully, there had always been signs that Hel was a girl… he had been too caught up in his initial impression of Hel to take real notice of them.

Godou desperately started to apologise and explain his reasoning though Hel initially seemed too much in a state of deep shock to listen to what he said.

Thus, the rest of the return trip had become a rather awkward affair.

Nevertheless, Godou had somehow managed to somewhat repair his relationship with Hel.

Part 4

The incident with Hel had left Godou with a nasty aftershock.

Right now he was actually tempted to abuse his [Teleport] ability to travel somewhere to else to calm his mind. Perhaps a place like Mt Revils where the mountain air was refreshing?

Distracting himself with such wishful thoughts, Godou eventually calmed himself down.

A sudden radical thought came to Godou’s mind regarding his abilities or more specifically, his [Teleport] skill. It was an obvious application of the skill. So obvious that he was surprised he hadn’t thought of it sooner.

Perhaps with this skill he could help another one of his acquaintances cope with their problems? Godou pondered on the thought for a moment but ultimately decided to consult his idea with the person in question.

“Hey Ferrex, my teleport allows me to travel to anyone or any place I’m familiar with right?”

Although Godou had asked the question out of nowhere, Ferrex’s response was actually surprisingly quick.

“I’m wondering, using that power would I be able to teleport to your location?”

There was a short pause in the conversation as Ferrex started to consider Godou’s suggestion seriously.

After all, Godou’s teleport was actually something completely different form the standard [Teleport] spells of other mages. Without needing keystones or markers, it was also different from teleport gates. Being able to do things which were normally thought to be impossible was completely possible with Godou.

A moment passed and Ferrex simply replied.

“Yes, I am.”

Godou thought of Ferrex and activated his [Teleport] skill.

His surroundings swirled and continued to change around for a several seconds without any visible change. Immediately afterwards, Godou knew something was wrong.

Out of all the times he had used the [Teleport] skill, this had to be by far the longest in terms of transition time. Perhaps the skill had failed? Godou wondered either or not it would be a long shot that a simple skill would be able to transverse between the realms of life and death.

Then his surroundings stabilised. The Chaos Origin Coat suddenly appeared from his inventory and fluttered around him.

Godou saw something akin to a vision. Somehow, through this vision, he was able to sense the thoughts and feelings of some foreign entity.

***

It was dark.

It was cold.

The young boy who did not yet have a name at the time looked at his surroundings.

Rough and makeshift.

The shack he currently huddled in was exactly that.

It was the type of shelter that was far from the concept of comfort. However, stepping outside of the shack would mean getting caught up inside the violent snowstorm that was currently raging outside. To survive there wasn’t any other choice.

However, things like choice and survival, the boy was too young to comprehend them.

Simply because it was cold. Simply because it was dangerous.

He had found shelter. Obeying his instincts, the boy had come to his current location.

Around him there were six others of similar ages.

Things like happiness. Things like sadness. Things like hope. Things like dreams.

These kids were only approaching the age where they would become aware of these things.

But yet, all seven of them had hollow eyes like the darkest abyss.

They knew no hope. They had no dreams. Or rather, the seven could not even comprehend these concepts in the first place.

They were not living. Obeying their ingrained instincts of self-preservation, the children were merely surviving.

Kill off their emotions before they develop any. Kill off their desires before they develop any. Without emotions and desires, they will become an effective and loyal tool.

The ones who had placed the children there had such intentions. It was only later that the nameless boy realised this.

Infested with undead and suffering from constant snowstorms, the place where the children were currently placed in was one of the harshest locations in Versailles.

Surviving in such a place required an individual to be level-headed and lucky. However, let alone children, even an experienced adult would find it difficult to survive in such conditions.

Thus, it had surprised ‘them’ a great deal when ‘they’ had discovered that seven of the children had survived the ordeal. ‘They’ had collected children who had shown possible traces of genius from various places to conduct this experiment. Nevertheless, without food or water, ‘they’ had never expected there to be so many survivors. In previous runs of the same experiment, the casualty rate had been so much higher. At times, there were no survivors at all.

This result intrigued ‘them’. ‘They’ were curious about what led to that result.

Thus, ‘they’ forced the seven to undertake experiments in even harsher conditions. As the experiments grew progressively harsher and harsher, the seven started to crumble. There were casualties, but even then ‘they’ did not stop the tests.

Eventually, there was only one survivor. The nameless boy.

By then the boy had become an empty shell completely devoid of a personality.

Nevertheless, ‘they’ looked at the boy with delight.

Perhaps this boy is the one we have been searching for! ‘They’ had thought.

However, the search for ‘one of the two’ had been conducted for centuries. ‘They’ seldom received any positive results.

Doubtful, ‘they’ forced the boy to undergo one final test. A test that had been specifically designed so that only two people in the world could pass it in the same era.

Despite the odds, the boy completed the test. He completed it and awakened the true form of his potential.

‘They’ become ecstatic over this result.

Without becoming aware of it, the nameless boy had become an extremely important tool for ‘them’.

For that boy held the power which could shake the heavens literally.

Someone who would wield the power of gods. Someone who could slay gods.

That was the identity of the boy’s true potential.

A Divine Saint Variant. Their Divine Saint Variant

And being the emotionless and loyal tool he was, the boy was completely under ‘their’, the church’s control.

Thus was the origin of the then nameless tool that was later used in the political struggle between churches.

Thus was the birth of the abnormality who would later refer to himself as “Xef”.

***

Due to leaving the mortal realm, the effects of the Contract of Gods no longer limit your abilities. While in the Immortal Realms, the following bonuses apply:

+ Divine Tolerance becomes infinite.

+ Your aura is overflowing. Multiply all stats by 3.

+ Multiply the effectiveness of all divine abilities by 3.

“Who the hell are you?”

As the vision ended, Godou suddenly found himself in an unfamiliar environment. Around him was nothing but swirling clouds of darkness. But yet, the place did not seem overly dark. There was no ground yet he found himself being able to stand on the ‘floor’ without any problems.

The one spoke to him was the undistinguishable shadow that stood before him. Seeing his silence, the shadow irritably clicked its tongue.

“Hey! You hear me? Who the hell are you and how did you get here?”

“Yeah… I heard… It’s just that I’m a bit shocked as well. I used a teleport skill to travel to someone I know but somehow ended up here.”

“Gosh! This place is supposed to have high security. What’s the point if people are breaking into it already? No wait...”

The shadow looked at Godou as if appraising him. As they made eye contact, Godou caught sight of pitch black eyes like an empty abyss. They seemed vaguely familiar.

“Now that I look at you, you’re a heretic god aren’t you? I have no business with the likes of you. Now go! Shoo!”

Taking advantage of Godou’s hesitation, the shadow was now trying to push Godou out.

“Even if you push me… there’s no exit around here…”

“Of course there’s no exit. This place was supposed to be impenetrable and unescapable!”

“Eh? Then how am I supposed to–”

“Just do the same thing you did to get in! Honestly, this place never lives up to its reputation. There’s at least 42 ways of breaking out of here now.”

“Even if you say that, I can’t teleport for another ten minutes.”

“Eh? What kind of crappy teleport is that? There should be no such thing! If you’re not going to leave then I’ll just have to force you to then!”

A sheathed longsword suddenly appeared in the shadow’s hand. There was a pattern on a silver serpent on the scabbard of the sword. Looking at it, Godou instinctively leapt backwards.

Even when sheathed, the sword was releasing an extraordinary amount of blood thirst towards him. Along with that, there was a massive amount of ‘power’ which radiated from the blade.

A godslaying weapon. A weapon specifically designed to allow the wielder to slay gods by itself. No matter who the wielder was, just possessing the weapon gave them enough power to fight gods.

Godou somehow knew what it was.

Looking at it, the shadow wasn’t a pushover either. Currently, the shadow was releasing such an intense holy aura that it was almost painful simply being close by.

The only person that Godou knew capable to releasing such an aura was Lexus. Even as he thought that, the shadow’s aura suddenly intensified. Godou could feel flickers of divinity radiating from the shadow.

Godou made the connection and guessed the shadow’s true identity. He trembled. Against this kind of opponent he needed firepower on the level of [Gift of the Origin].

“You are… a Divine Saint Knight…”

~Chapter end~

For some reason, using italics screws up my use of spacing on this forum requring me to manually delete all extra lines... whep that was annoying...

Initially, I had planned for this chapter to be longer but then I decided to leave it off here. I had also planned to release this chapter earlier but some stuff happened.

For the readers of NEET plays a game, I plan on finishing and releasing the next chapter sometime within the next 7 days(hopefully)
