The King's Path
Good Morning

Good Morning

“Who am I…?”

Jin asked himself as he walked around a town cluttered with bodies, blood, and wounded.

Among the fiery remains of a battle between the five strongest families of the tower, he had forgotten the touch of his own reflection.

Lost in his thoughts, Jin fought to put together his memories amidst the pandemonium but even after several attempts the faces and the names remained blurred in his mind.

“Ex-Excuse me, Excuse me”

Jin stammered; the words escaped his mouth with a feverish sense of haste.

He approached a woman who was tending to a wounded man, her hands covered in blood and her face streaked with tears. Her eyes widened as she saw Jin's disoriented state.

“Are you alright?"

She said, her voice filled with worry.

Jin shook his head, confusion still lingering in his thoughts.

"I... I don't know who I am. I can't remember anything."

The woman looked at him sympathetically, bearing in mind the gravity of what he said.

"You are not by yourself. A great number of people in this place have lost houses, loved ones, and even memories. Everybody is attempting to make sense of this insanity.”

She said as she slowly stood up after attending to the wounded man.

With steady hands she gently retrieved a petite crystal from her pocket. Its sleek surface glinted under the dim rays of twilight as she extended it towards Jin.

“Use this, it will teleport you to a place where you can get help”

As Jin reached for the crystal and held it in his palm, a subtle warmth came from within it, as if it contained a hidden desire to direct him in his journey.

With a mix of hope and anxiety, he then looked up to see a notification window floating in front of his eyes.

“What is this…?”

Jin's eyes were fixated on the notification.

Curiosity sparked in his head as he attempted to understand the nature of this strange sight.

“This is your chance; you will know what it is when you click on it”

The woman said.

Frightened but yet intrigued by what might be inside, Jin cautiously went on out to touch the notification window.

A buzzing feeling ran through his body as his fingers touched its airy surface, and then everything surrounding him vanished into a blinding light.

When the shimmering brightness faded, he discovered that he was in the middle of a desert.

The hot sun beat down hard on him, sending broad shadows across the huge sweep of golden sand.

As he paused to collect his thoughts, droplets of sweat gathered on his brow, revealing the oppressive desert heat.

Baffled, he scoured the surroundings for a hint, for a sign of humanity.

But all he saw was an unending sea of sandy dunes, their wavy arcs stretching out as far as the eye could reach.

“Is this where I actually belong...?”

Jin pondered out loud, his voice drowned out by the vast emptiness around him.

His unflinching resolve propelled him ahead as the days stretched into weeks.

And then, in the middle of the sandy dunes, he stumbled upon an amazing sight: a beautiful sword that was partially buried.

His hands shook with anticipation as he leaned down and clutched the pommel grinning.

“This is my chance…!”

Jin whispered to himself with great intensity as a surge of hope coursed through every fibre of his being.

The weight of the sword in his palm gave his trembling muscles confidence and courage.

But just as his hope was building, an unwanted visitor dashed his fantasy.

His eyes flickered from the sword as a sudden chime drew his attention, and his look of optimism faded.
