While walking, Gu Ten Long recalled the words of the sect leader.
For a moment, he even felt tempted, thinking.
"Freedom...Could I truly be free if I manage to endure just a little longer?" But soon, he shook his head.
"I should not trust a single word that comes from his mouth, lying is a second nature for us, demons."
...
The two walked towards the instructed area.
It looked fairly impressive, despite they're mere caves, they looked very intricate with very strange patterns of light, that moved intermittently.
When one looked at each of the caves they'd see a myriad of ramifications and pathways, which seemed to connect to a thousand of places.
Among the many caves, they saw one who was shining in the order of purple-blue-red-yellow-white, repeating in bucle.
Those patterns of light codified the meaning of '23' in the strange made-up language of the sect.
Upon entering they looked at an strange door.
The door was surrounded by multiple wires and vein-like shapes, they're all shining with an almost intangible blue pale light.
As for the two of them, they felt a chill coursing through their bodies.
The light around them was distorted, and so was their perception, from time to time they could see their arms stretching and curving towards that door, they even began to feel a headache and could barely think straight.
"So, this is an space door, huh?"
Space doors were one of the most common formations in the world, as long as a person constructed two doors, that connected to each side it was possible to create a wormhole between the two points, being the only weakness of anSpace Door the huge costs of maintenance and fuel.
Gu Ten Long took the first step, he entered into the space door followed by Wu Yong.
Upon entering, the door closed.
A midnight blue, almost completely black surged violently, it entered into the pores of their skin, it was poured inside their ears, and even eyes.
Multiple flashing images from the past, the present and even future appeared.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A figure was descending from the skies, like a featherless bird.
His dark blue aura was getting increasingly thinner, his face was slowly being corroded, he had no eyes or ears, whilst his lips were sewn shut.
At the other side there was a figure whose whole body was covered in crimson, waves of an unspoken intensity surged, anyone who stood close to him would soon fall prey to their primal instincts, fight or flee, no creature would be able to retain their composure in front of him.
He was like the personification of evil.
Yet, even while the figure was falling, it still looked right onto the eyes emotionlessly.
"I failed." It said plainly, the figure sighed.
"After all this time, I thought...
Maybe, I could change the outcome, my Destiny, that I could stop that 'Angel.'
Even if I failed at that, I believed that at the very least, I could make the last days of my life worth it, I could avenge myself and the others.
Now?
Hahaha, is clear to me now that I was merely deluding myself, I could do nothing, not even by sacrificing everything I had."
The figure snickered.
"The only relief I get out of this, is that I know you'll experience this same cruelty, this same hopelessness."
Suddenly, the light of the figure's vanished.
But in mere moments, multiple golden needles appeared close to his face, the needles carried a myriad of white threads, that resembled cobwebs, the needles sewn and sewn, until it covered the whole face of the figure.
A red blade was shoot from afar that cut the threads in half, revealing the face of the figure.
The figure was now completely different, it looked gorgeous almost divine, his thick lips curled into a huge smile.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
His eyes shone with an intense golden luster.
The muscles of the figure expanded, ripping his clothes apart, his back was ruptured, golden blood flew out from his back, and his bones cracked, followed by some strange spectral gray-blue wings that were huger than the figure itself.
....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What just happened?" Wu Yong muttered to himself.
He looked at Gu Ten Long, while biting his lips.
"Did you...
Wait, what was about to say?"
"If you forgot it so easily, I guess nothing important." Gu Ten Long said dismissively.
A pinky-white light surged, engulfing both of their bodies, the light revealed their muscle tissue and organs, followed by a crimson light that revealed their vein pathways, the traces of Qi inside their bodies could clearly be seen, lastly a dark-purple aura appeared, this time it pierced directly towards their bones.
"So, you're the newcomers?" A tall man and vigorous man said, his hair was crimson, and his eyes were completely black devoid of any light whatsoever, like two black holes that constantly sucked the light around him.
He was shirtless and was wearing some simple leather clothes.
"I Gu Zhan Hu, never thought that the sect leader would ask for reinforcements, and even less from some weaklings at the Body Tempering Realm, seriously what was he thinking upon sending some brats who have Cultivated for less than three years to us?"
"Perhaps that is the point, I mean just look at their bodies, they're still too undeveloped, they have hardly begun their careers, yet, their Cultivation is already quite decent." Another man said, this man had an average height and like the other, his hair was crimson, but he had a few golden strands mixed in it.
His clothes were even more simple, he was wearing a skirt made purely of leaves as his only clothes.
He looked carefree, almost careless, he looked at them intrigued.
"I wonder, have they gotten the taste of blood already?
That would explain their fast Cultivation speed."
"That is indeed a form of talent, Blood Cultivators need to be cruel, the more cruel and reckless the Cultivator is, the better, as they're more attuned to Blood Path."
While the demonic Cultivators were analyzing the two, Wu Yong simply coughed.
"Ehem, no, we haven't killed anyone, and in all honesty, I'd rather not eat another human."
"Oh, so you're simple lucky bastards or you're born with an exceptional physique." One of them said indifferently, a person who lacked talent could still accomplish many feats by relying on 'external resources', in fact the further you advanced in Blood Path the more reliant you became in other sources.
Therefore, things like 'talent', became mostly irrelevant, the only important trait was the willingness to break one's morals.
"We shouldn't waste or time in useless chattering, if needed we can always corrupt them whenever we want to." A female voice said, her voice was rather cold, and her whole body was releasing a chilling aura, multiple snowflakes flew around her, the lingering fragrance of iron and copper could be perceived clearly.
The rest of the group listened to her words and stopped their actions, clearly she was the leader.
Her body shone with a pink light, she grabbed the two youths and the rest of the group and then they all began to fly!
Gu Ten Long touched the liquidish aura while thinking.
"A visible, perceptible layer of Qi, it seems she's at the Mystical Condensation Realm..."
He licked his lips, and looked at her with greed on his eyes.
"I wonder, what could I do to get a drop of her blood?"
The woman turned her head subtly, she smirked widely at him.
"My, my...
Such greed, however even if I truly gave you a bit of my flesh you may choke on it.
Or what, do you really think you can eat the flesh of someone two realms ahead of you so easily?
Of course, if you truly want to, I can give you a taste, go ahead, just try it!"
Her voice carried many intentions, at a side she was warning him but was also testing his character.
"If he retreats upon hearing my words, and denies my words, saying that is a misunderstanding or any similar phrase, then he must be someone cowardly, who doesn't like confrontations, yet who can also be commanded easily.
If he's too stubborn and takes my blood without a care in the world, paying no mind to my words, then he must pay the price for his arrogance, I won't tolerate anyone so stupid in my group.
So, what will you do?" She looked at him with a bright smile on her face.
Gu Ten Long narrowed his eyes, suspicion could be seen on his face, he touched his chin seemingly trying to decipher the meaning of her words and if she was saying the truth or not.
However, upon acquiring no answer he simply sighed helplessly and said.
"Very well, I shall listen to your words."
While the two were chatting, Wu Yong was immersed on the skies.
"So beautiful...
Heh, it quite reminds me of the old days when I used to live in my clan, those nights where I used to go with my father to our festivals...
The nights where I used to go onto the 'Wind Wheel' and would enter into the center of a tornado, a tornado where I would constantly spin and dance around, looking beneath the skies, while eating some of our 'Carefree Wind' teas.
I used to feel such fear, yet excitement, it was as if I could take a glimpse of what future awaited me, the day where I would truly be unhindered by anything, where the wind would obey me, and I could roam onto the endless clouds, witnessing the beauty of the world.
What would my past self, think of the current me?
Would he feel disappointed, fearful, resigned, hopeless?
Then...
How would I feel if I saw the future me, would I feel pride, a sense of accomplishment, or instead I'd feel pure sorrow and desperation?"
He closed his eyes, imaging such fuzzy future.
After finding no answer in his heart, he looked at the clouds ahead of him, in an attempt to calm himself.
To look at them even more clearly, he even activated his 'Shiny Eyes.'
"Maybe I should just enjoy this sight for once, this may be the final time I have such wonderful experience, after all."
...
However, the woman interrupted them.
"Alright, we already moved far enough.
Despite the fact that I used an illusory technique to conceal ourselves, my method only works in opponents too far away, if I move any further, they may be able to see my aura.
Besides, there's a decent quantity of leeches and other creatures swarming around this area, this is a great chance to increase the number of your puppets."
After saying those words, she descended slowly until finally, she reached the ground.
"I know you have low Cultivation levels, but try to be useful and gather some clues for us.
We will return here in a week or so."
Then she and the rest of the group disappeared.
