Prologue - A Historian's Find

Authors Note: Unfortunately I've realised some severe plot holes in the chapters that Ive written. (its all over the place). So there will be some delays in uploading the chapter. I've also changed the prologue a little adding more about the 'Historian' to allow for the changes in the plot.

Whilst fixing these plot holes I've also changed the overall story.. and its more influenced my wuxia novels now. So hopefully I can implement them properly.

Prologue

[[ The Historian. That is what I'm now known as. Its been more than a decade since someone has uttered my real name and though it doesn't matter much, I've almost started forgetting it.

For decades I've been the lead scholar on the ancient ages. The empires that rose and fell from power. The heroes and villains that walked the world. Everything to learn the story of the demon.

I am a man from the Shinryuu hidden village. Not much is known nor will I be telling you much about it. Rarely, very rarely, once every 2-300 years during the coming of age ritual, twin dragons coil around the arms of the chosen one.

Thin dragons with the jaws opening up at the hands and the body coiling up past the elbow to the shoulder where a sharp tail rests. These dragons with a faint red and golden hue mark the ‘chosen one’. I thirty years ago became that chosen man and now here I am.

It all started really as a hobby, before I was chosen I loved the stories of great heroes and tragic villains. The betrayals that lead to the fall of empires and friendships that sprung the birth of new ones. Surprisingly, our village had been apart of many coups and conspiracies and I was able to dissect many different events that came about from them.

At 15, my coming of age ceremony, the dragons appeared and I who had no desire to grow stronger like my predecessors had, desired knowledge of the past and somehow my resolve was acknowledged by the dragons. Combing through the past, I realised I just had to know the story of the demon.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

It was said he was the one man who managed to shake the very foundations of the world. His tales tells of how he walked the knife’s edge for peace and vengeance. He was a man of great intellect and surprising power. He was the demon of Tyraal, thought to be the last of the Tyraal clan.

This is a story from his private journal hidden amongst the ruins of Thaya. The Notus Library is famous for collecting the written word from all over the world and the thousands of years spent collecting was not in vain. For I have finally pieced together the story of Rike Tor.

I guess I should let the legend himself introduce the story. ]]

****

[ I look back onto my life and wonder. Was I the demon my father accused me to be or was I a man like any other, and just reacting to the fates. I guess this would be something left to the people to decide.

However, in much of my journey I have understood humanity’s character of exaggerated belief in rumour and innuendo. As such, I have chosen to write this journal.

This journal would be more as a narrative recounting my thoughts and the thoughts and narrative of others at the time, which I understood from their personal recounting with me, through their own writings or through their expressions and actions at the time.

Before I begin this, I should remind you, I am from the house of Tyraal. We may have shattered during the times, but our pride and our work echo through the world. Our deceptive skills and the Amun spies we founded are still considered the best in the world.

The people of Tyraal have been called many things, but when they give their word, they keep it; even if their flesh are shredded and bones are ground to dust, they keep their word.

So, a true story of my journey - you have my word. ]
