Chapter-1 (Kevin out of the box)

Chapter-1

Kevin out of the box!

‘Right in the box, Kev!' The words bounced back from the wooden walls of the ship that jolted on the waves.

Along with the sun, about twenty-five men watched a little red octopus sliding down from the top of a man’s head where he sat a couple of seconds ago. The man was tied with the ropes in the middle of the deck to a large wooden pillar, above which the ship’s flag waved.

Kev-the little octopus- hauled himself on the wooden floor of the ship to the furthest limit of the deck, where a bright golden box was placed. When he drew near the box, he looked back at a man who held a white sheet of paper. Both of their eyes met, the man frowned, and Kev jumped into the box and pulled down the lid, letting one of his limbs dangle out.

‘You think I’m blind? I can see them, Keev!’ said the man.

All the men on the deck glared as the little octopus finally pulled in his limb and began watching the drama through the keyhole.

‘Now open your mouth, Sze.’ said the man.

‘It’s the final time I’m telling you, it’s Z, not Seize or Sze or whatever you’re pronouncing,’ said the young man who was tied with ropes.

‘But I can literally see SZE written on this paper,’ the man waved the white paper in front of his face, ‘How could S-Z-E be Z? It doesn’t make any sense.’

‘Let me go!’ said Sze.

‘You tell me what I want to hear, and I’ll let you go,’ said the man.

‘I don’t know what you’re asking,’ said Sze.

‘You know, and also know who I am, don’t you?’ said the man.

‘Ye...Yes...Yes, I know you’re the lord of the sea; you’re THE KEVIN.’

‘Exactly! And you’re now disrespecting me by not answering. You don't understand how important this is for me,' said Kevin.

'Maybe he knows, Boss,' said one of the men who worked for Kevin.

'Is it? Then I’ve got no choice but to cut your head in two and feed it to my dear little Kev!’

‘I beg your pardon!’

As they talked, an arrow came flying and pierced the ship's floor directly close to Kevin's foot; its tail wobbled before finally coming to a halt. Every one of the men who worked for Captain Kevin, Sze, and Kevin himself took a long gander at the arrow. They recognized it.

‘It’s a silver arrow, and only one ship uses these,’ Before Kevin could finish all the men along with Sze, said,

‘It’s the Unsinkable. It’s Sir Hiss!’

A man from Kevin’s crew climbed up on a long wooden pillar that touched the clouds and saw a large ship about triple the size of Kevin’s ship heading towards them.

‘They’re here,’ he cried.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Kevin ordered everyone to take their position. In less than a minute, all the cannons, arrows, and men holding swords, sticks, spoons, whatever they could grab, were looking straight in the direction with their shaky hands from where the Unsinkable approached.

In a few minutes, a big ship stood beside them. The only man from whom Lord Kevin feared stepped out of his cabin, walked a few steps on the floor of the Unsinkable, took a deep breath in the calm wind and looked into the eyes of Kevin. A current surged into Kevin’s vein, and the hair of his hands, and face got up.

Before any member of Kevin’s group could react, a large army of the Unsinkable jumped onto Kevin’s ship-unarmed! They made a path by placing a long plank between both the ships, on which Sir Hiss walked and entered into Kevin’s ship. Underneath his feet lived maneaters. They all were armed, but no one dared to raise their weapons against Sir Hiss, and his crew.

Kevin’s hand clenched. His feet shook; he didn’t know what to do. It would be only a matter of a minute to finish Kevin along with his army for the man who stood before him, and Kevin was well aware of it. As Kevin pondered about his next move, Sir Hiss opened his mouth and said,

‘I need your...I need your help, Kevin. She is back! Malise is back!’

The sky turned dark from bright yellow. Kevin gulped harder.

Everyone dropped their weapons on the floor in shock and sat with their hands on their head.

‘How?’ asked Kevin.

‘I don’t know, but it’s true. Right now, we don’t have time for chit chats. You need to come with me. Order your men to jump into my ship because we’ve to leave the Indian Ocean as soon as we can,’  said Sir Hiss.

‘I can’t. You know the rule. A captain can never leave his ship. It can only happen if the ship sinks along with the captain or either captain himself dies saving the ship,’ said Kevin.

‘I know the rules, I was the one who suggested something that stupid to pirates world, but for now, we’ve got a bigger problem than that. Listen, if you stay alive, you can build an even bigger ship than this. Still, if you want to die watching yourself losing every one of your fingers one by one until the pain or Malise herself kill you in mercy, then I couldn’t do anything,’ said Sir Hiss and began walking towards his ship.

Kevin took some time before saying, ‘I am coming!’

‘I knew,’ said Sir Hiss and smiled.

They untied Sze from the wooden pillar, but they kept his hands tied behind his back.

‘Who is this?’ asked Sir Hiss looking at Sze.

‘Just someone who tried to enter my ship without permission.’

All the men from Kevin’s ship shifted into Sir Hiss' ship. Kevin bent down on his knees and kissed his ship one last time as he knew he was never going to see it again.  They put Sze down in a cell.

The Unsinkable headed towards the safest place, and that wasn’t anywhere in the ocean. Kevin couldn’t sleep, and all the way, he thought about Malise holding little Kev’s golden box in his arms. Little Kev watched everything from inside, knowing something was wrong, but thinking much about it made him feel hungry.

The night passed swiftly, not for everyone, and the sun again showed up in the sky.

‘It’s visible. The land is here.’ a man cried.

Everyone rushed towards the boundaries of the ship to see. In the last ten years, none of them had ever seen land. They all eagerly waited for the ship to tug the sore so that they could jump on the sand.

‘I will sleep on the land for six hours at least without swaying.’ said one of the men.

‘I’ll first go and have a barrel full of coconut water,’ said the other.

Everyone was happy. It was a joyful part for both parties. Kevin was excited to see how the world had grown in the span of ten years, and Sir Hiss was very excited, imagining meeting ladies for a very long time.

Kevin ordered one of his men to bring Sze on the deck. When Sze arrived, he stood in shock.

'Yes...Yes, prisoner, we're back home. But you've to be a little afraid of this because now I have a lot of time to get from you what I want.

But, Sze didn't speak. He knew something but kept to himself.

Soon the land was very much apparent. They could hear the waves striking the land and the rocks. Everyone was very excited; each held their own plan of spending their time on land, suddenly Sir Hiss cried, ‘Nooo! Turn the ship around, I said. Turn it!’

But it was too late for such a large ship to change its direction so suddenly. The ship was about to touch the shore, and they all could clearly see a flag on which a skeleton head was featured along with bones in a cross.

Kevin cried in shock, ‘What are we going to do? We’re trapped!’

‘We will not do anything. Now they’ll do what they will,’ said Sir Hiss.

‘You know Big Bad Bear will not forgive us for what we’ve done last time!’ said Kevin, knowing his end had come, or maybe he walked into that.

A huge Big Bad Bear's army waited on the periphery of the shore for the Unsinkable to touch the land, and they began making everyone prisoner as soon as the ship touched the ground. Though there were hundreds of people on the Unsinkable, the army of Big B was too big for them to fight. Sir Hiss and Kevin knew fighting would only end in loss, so they chose to become prisoners without resistance. Both of their crews were tied with strong ropes and sent to the prison. One of the men untied Sze,  and again tied him with a much stronger rope.

Two strong men made Sir Hiss and Kevin bow down before Big Bad Bear. One of Big B's men brought him a golden box as they were moving precious items off the ship. Big B took the box and looked carefully at it. He tried to open it.

‘No...Do not open it.’ cried Kevin.

‘Oh! Is it?’ said Big B, and he opened the lid of the box with all the force within him.

Before any of them could process anything, little Kev jumped out of the box into the Indian Ocean and disappeared in a matter of a second...
