Chapter 1. Mother's Love

Everyone has a dream

Some is trying their best to make it come true

Some give up in the middle of the road

Some laughs at the peak of success

And there are also those who fall in the middle of the struggle

The sound of crying accompanies the funeral process of an orphanage principal. A man who all his life dreamed of a world of peace. The man's name was Johanes, he left his hometown to build an orphanage in a country that was undergoing colonialism. According to him, even though he couldn't make the situation any better, at least he tried to protect the children's laughter.

"Tch, naive old man," said a young man who stood quite far from the crowd. The young man had bandages wrapped from top of his head to his neck. Even though his tone sounded completely disrespectful to the man who was being buried, the bandages covering the area around his eyes seemed to be starting to get wet.

The young man was called Lando by the people around him. Feeling the bandages getting wet, Lando walked towards a white building with the words Parapa Orphanage in front of it.

Lando entered a room measuring 2 x 3 square meters and locked the door from inside. He opened the medicine box and took out the roll of bandages inside. Lando stood in front of a mirror and began to remove the bandages that covered almost entirety of his head.

In front of the mirror was the handsome face of an 18 year old young man. The skin on his face looked very smooth without the slightest scratch, which made others wouldn't believe that it had been burned beyond recognition three days ago.

Lando has an appearance that shows a mix of European and exotic Southeast Asian. Straight black hair, yellowish white skin, bluish irises, stature around 180, and proportional body. Great combination indeed, but for Lando, this is a cursed face.

Lando's mother was the most beautiful woman in her village. Unfortunately, her beauty only brought misfortune in these chaotic times. Colonial troops who set foot in the village repeatedly vent their sexual desires on her. As the result, she got pregnant and started to lose her mind. Luckily, their residence is not too far from the orphanage founded by Johanes, so that Lando is saved.

Despite receiving help from the orphanage, Lando's childhood was not easy. Wherever he goes, he always gets hateful stares from around. After all Lando has the appearance of the invaders who took their freedom. Kids of Lando's age only saw him as a moving target. Lando was often stoned by them. The colonists also treated Lando badly. To them, Lando was a lowly creature that made them disgust. only the orphanage treats him well, even so he can't stay because of some rules.

When he was 12 years old, Johanes asked Lando to work as his assistant at the orphanage and of course, Lando was allowed to bring his mother to live together with him at the orphanage. At least, Lando's mother just daydreams every day. She never harmed anyone. Johanes prepared a small wooden building separate from the main building of orphanage for Lando and his mother to live in.

Lando had a better life since then. He no longer got stoned at the orphanage. Some children who live in the orphanage also have same background as Lando, so the discrimination that Lando has experienced since childhood no longer occurs.

When he was 15 years old, the beauty of Lando's mother began to appear on Lando and made him a man who was liked by many women. Starting from fellow caretakers, vegetable delivery aunty, to daughter of donor who often came to the orphanage, they glanced at Lando with passionate eyes. And this is where the problem starts.

Most people who donate to the orphanage were either influential figure or high-status people. They donate often not out of kindness, but to build a good image and increase their influence. Johanes fully understands this, but it is undeniable that without their donation, the needs of the orphanage cannot be met. Because of that, Johanes and all caretakers of the orphanage must treat donors like kings. Over time, donors began to regard the orphanage as a vacation spot. They often bring their families to visit. At least, when they are stay in the orphanage, they feel they are good rulers.

One of the orphanage donor families who often come is Willburg family. They have 2 daughters named Helena Willburg and Merlina Willburg who are 1 and 3 years older than Lando respectively. They were both kind enough to Lando, who often asked to be taught about various subjects that were not taught at the orphanage, such as dancing, foreign languages, and science which of course was only at the two girls level.

Lando also received good treatment from Mrs. Willburg, Elisa Willburg. But things started to change when Mr. Willburg, Anderson Willburg got a call to return to his country. Mrs. Willburg summons Lando and asks him to have an intimate activity. The young Lando immediately rejected it without a second thought. Unfortunately, this did not stop Elisa.

Without Anderson, Elisa often asked Johanes to send Lando to her house to help with housework. Of course, Lando's job was very different. In addition to being assigned task of accompanying the two girls shopping and carrying goods, Lando also has special tasks to serve Elisa, such as massaging, washing feet, scrubbing her back while Elisa is bathing, which of course was done in secret. Elisa always teases Lando, which always ends in rejection.

Elisa Willburg is the type of person who enjoys things slowly and she is sure that one day Lando will change his mind, so she doesn't force Lando. In her opinion however, Lando has entered his teenage years which is certainly full of curiosity about relationships between opposite sex. Once Lando asked her about it by himself, that's where the fun Elisa was waiting for. Little did she know, Lando had never been tempted by her. Every time Lando saw Elisa, Lando only felt disgusted. It was people like Elisa who made his mother what she is today, making Lando tormented from birth. They are the same, they are humans who see other humans as just sex toys. Lando promised that one day, they should be given punishment they deserve.

Johanes is the only one who knows about what Elisa did to Lando, but he can't do anything. He did not dare offend the main donor of orphanage. At least, Lando was never hurt. And for Lando, Helena and Marlina were good friends who taught him various things. Therefore, whenever Lando is ordered to come to Willburg's house, he still accepts it. At least Lando always got a good payment for every task the Willburg family gave him.

The way willburg family treats Lando makes some of servants jealous. Even so, no one dared to do anything.

Time passed until 3 days ago Anderson returned from his country. One of the servants told Anderson that Lando seduced Helena and Marlina for their money. Anderson, who didn't really like Lando the "halfling" from the start, was furious. He immediately went to the orphanage with some of his men. Seeing wooden building where Lando and his mother were, Anderson ordered his men to pour gasoline and then set it on fire.

Lando who was sleeping did not know that the building he lived in was on fire. He only woke up when someone pulled him out of bed. When he realized, that person was his mother who had lost her mind all this time. Lando took the basin of water he used to wash his mother's feet and poured the contents on both of them. They then ran towards the exit which apparently could not be opened. In a panic, Lando saw his mother pointing at the ventilation hole with a fairly narrow size. The two of them rushed towards the ventilation hole. Lando was at the front, he intended to pull his mother from outside.

In front of the ventilation hole, Lando saw a man holding a gasoline container. Seeing Lando's head outside the vent, the man immediately threw the contents of container at Lando's head. Fire immediately burns the affected area. Lando's hair and entire face were burning badly. Lando's mother saw this and immediately pulled Lando inside. Using wet clothes, she wraps Lando's burning head. Luckily the fire extinguished not long after. Lando's mother then pulls Lando near the exit and hopes for a miracle to come to save her unconscious son.
