Chapter 2: Royal Visitor

Cal settled Sarah into the bed with gentle hands. He sat down at the edge of the bed when he was satisfied with his wife's position. His gaze was fixed on a wall as he recalls memories of the past.

"I guess that, at that time, we didn't leave fast enough." Cal heaved a heavy sigh before he looked back onto the beautiful woman's face. "Because of our actions, it has cost us our daughter's life."

He couldn't bring himself to speak of the matter anymore, so he got up and left the room. It was at that moment that he heard the doctors terrified scream. Cal furrowed his eyebrows as he hurridly ran over to where he last remembered where she was at.

His steps faultered when he saw the small girl sitting straight up on the bed, his face revealed his surprise.

Nekora gently smiled. "Father! I'm awake now, so there is no need for you to worry."

Cal stayed rooted for a few moments before everything properly registered in his mind. His heart felt as though a huge weight had been lifted, and he felt extremely happy. He opened up his arms welcomingly as he rushed over to the bed, and he hugged her tightly, unwilling to see her go once again. "Nekora! It's so great that you are alive. Your mother would be extremely relieved."

Nekora hugged her father back. "I won't leave again. I won't allow myself to cause the people I love pain!"

Nekora's words came from her heart. Even though she hasn't been with this new family of hers for a long time, the memories that was from the previous owner of the body was already firmly intergrated with her own soul, so it feel like she has known them all of her life. The prior Nekora lloved them to death, so the new Nekora would naturally do the same unless they turn out to become backstabbers like they were.

Their moment of peace was soon interrupted when a male servant came inside. "Master. His Royal Highness, King Mike, wishes for an audiance."

Cal's head perked up quickly. "Where is he right now?" He asked with urgancy in his voice.

"He is waiting in the garden's platio. He also informend me to tell you 'this is an urgant matter that involves your daughter and my son.' His son, Crown Prince Jasper, is also with him." The servant informed calmly.

"Did you make sure to keep them occupied with some beverage and someone else to speak to?"

"Master has no need to worry. Everything has already been arranged."

"Good. You may leave now." Cal raised up, and looked affectionately at his daughter. "Are you well enough to walk to the garden?"

Nekora nodded her head vigorously. "Yes, father."

Cal gave a gentle smile and helped Nekora out of the bed. They both head to the garden as fast as they could.

Two luxuriously dressed men were chatting up a storm as they drank some tea that was given to them, and they seem to be arguing over something. One of the men was nearing his 40's while the other one was in his early 20's. One could tell that the younger man was extraordinarially handsome while the older man once was handsome in his youth.

The younger of the duo balled his fists. "How come you never told me about this arrangement before?! Don't you think that as your son, I deserve to know about matters such as this?!" His anger was soaring, but it was being controlled by a large amount of willpower.

The older man just stroked his long beard with his fingers. "You need to calm down, Jasper! If the citizens of our Scarlet Kingdom find out about this side of you, they will immediately riot against you before you can ascend to the throne."

The king's words made Jasper's eyes widen slightly, before they wen't back to normal. His temperment slowly calmed down to the point to where there was no sign that he was boiling with anger just a few seconds ago.  "You are correct father. I should have known better."

The king looked off to the distence. "Your cool down was done at perfect timing. They are here."

Jasper calmly looked over to where his father's gaze was at, and his eyes flashed with immense ridicule and disdain before it was quickly replaced with a gentle smile. "My, I thank the heavens that I am able to be in the presence of both of you. Master Cal and Young Mistress Nekora looks very escuisite today as they always do."
