Chapter 4 Candy Metro

Ice Fairy's Pov

In the Cookie train

After I finish my meal the crazy geezer makes a movement with his hand. Thereafter the bowls begin to grow ceramic spider legs and the teeth of the fork become longer and longer. It looks like a hermit crab. The handle of the fork roles around my knife and takes it with it.

I watch fascinated at the dishes. They stand up, crawl over the table and jump off it, one after another. Their legs are long enough to take the shock of jumping off the train, without destroying the ceramic bowls. After landing they run towards the middle of the town and vanish.

I look towards the crazy geezer and notice an amused smile on his face

(I, Ice Fairy)

"What just happened?"

(Crazy geezer)

"Oh you know: I always hated making the dishes and my wife hated making them too. After some time our house was a dump. So I invented dishes which can wash themselves and do other housework. I mean I am not the worst mechanic and with the help of Wilson it was even easier."

I imagine a bowl trimming the hedge.... No but more importantly:

(I, Ice Fairy)

"Who is this Wilson? Can I meet him? Does he really know this much? Is he maybe as handsome as he is wise?"

The crazy geezer, ignoring my last question, looks at his watch.

(Crazy geezer, grumbling)

"My wife will finish her session in half an hour, but I suppose it will be alright nonetheless."

The crazy geezer presses a button on the underside of the table. Suddenly the floor in front of the train opens. The floor under the original rails produces a ramp down to another route.

What is this? A secret entrance?

The crazy geezer turns around because he looks at me who sits in the rear. My new clothes become glued to the bench with ice. This was surely the old geezers doing.

A mad laughter escapes his lips.

An unsure laugh escapes mine.

The cookie train enters the hole. The adrenalin level rises.

I begin to panic. The train accelerates downward into the unknown.

I feel cold, fast wind brushing over my cheeks. The cookie train's rattling rhythm is 10 times faster than before. Big clouds of water vapour escape the chimney.

I see the old man enjoying the fast wind. His long moustache is waving in the cold wind. He laughs. I myself am panicking. What happened? Why didn't he warn me?

I cry in anxiety but at the same time I already trust the bold one. The scream changes to laughter.

Suddenly there is a feeling of free fall. I notice we entered a big bottomless room and there are no tracks anymore.

The train flys. Panic reappears.

The crazy geezer laughs.

We fall for an eternity. I see a little light at the horizont which becomes bigger and bigger.

Then I can make out the contours of what is coming near us. It is a big frog. Fear takes my breath and I stop making any noise. I only think: Why old geezer? I haven't even lived a day.

I look at the mad face of him and I want to curse him. I try to scream at him but the wind swallows my words.

The tongue of the frog grabs the train. We decelerate really fast. It was good luck that the ice of the old geezer holds me in place.

The tongue grabs our train and the creature swallows the whole vehicle. I close my eyes. I feel that the train is forced into something. Tracks? Inside a frog?

Thereafter I feel how the frog lands with us inside it.

(Crazy geezer, laughing)

"Ice Fairy you can now open your eyes we nearly arrived!"

(I, Ice Fairy)

"Am I dead?"

I risk glancing a bit through my eyelids.

I see a crazy geezer smiling over both ears.

(Crazy geezer)

"No. You are more alive than any person or anything here."

I open my eyes and look around.

We are in a narrow tunnel made out of fruit gum.

On the walls are pictures of heroic tales, showing the crazy geezer with a handsomely built body. At his side is his staff in form of a handsome girl. Around him winged gingerbread soldiers fly.

The front and the behind of our transport is closed. It looks like the gum is half transparent. The walls are fluorescing. My eyes look around in wonder.

I feel the frog jumping to its destination. It's not an easy feat to hold a meal in the stomach.

We arrive at a railway station. The amphibious looking creature turns around and docs with its behind on the tracks which are nearby. The gum splits and the behind opens.

The cookie train leaves the froglike creature and stops on the tracks. The big frog closes again and vanishes behind some crystals which are in every size and colour lightening the surrounding on the floor of the cave.

I become dizzy when I think about what just happened. We used a frog as a matter of transport!

My eyes wander away from the crystals. The frog vanished behind and fixate on the crazy geezer. I say one word:

(I, Ice Fairy)

"Why?"

He scratches unconsciously his back.

(crazy geezer)

"You know I had some time on hand and I thought it was cool....."

"Cool? This was better than what I could ever imagine! I mean a frog! A frog!"

The old man blushes. With a proud voice he declares:

(Crazy geezer)

"My opinion is that every home needs one roller coaster minimum otherwise it's not better than an old shack!"

(I, Ice fairy)

"You are a genius!"

I know one thing: My castles can't be compared with the work of this genius. Maybe he should educate me in mad architecture.

I think about it, but then I think of the lack of men and decide against it. I want to have minimum 1 acceptable man near me.

(I, Ice Fairy)

"But you have to work on your style. I mean the painting was a bit much....."

("Crazy Geezer")

"Whats wrong with the painting? I think it's beautiful. It brings out my true character. It show the best traits of me..."

(I, Ice Fairy)

"Yeah but it's a bit... how should I say....Egocentic..."

(Crazy Geezer)

"Most of the big painters had this trait. Nontheless it's one of my best pieces."

(I, Ice Fairy)

"Don't you think that someone could get a false picture of you?"

(Crazy Geezer)

"Why? I mean I can say without bragging that I am the Leonardo Da Vinci of my time!"

Yeah for sure you are the Leonardo Da Vinci of your time but only because there is no one except you.....I shut my mouth and let him believe what he wants.

I look around. The whole cave is black. Some torches are left and right the track. They give us some light. On the right side there are crystals. They are not bigger than a fairy and look wonderful.

On the left side of us is a big tower.

Actually it's a big root which was forced into shape. I suspect it's the same magic as the one which forced the branches on the surface into shape. Its surface showed some metal spots.

I let the ice wander on my back around the chair to its backside.

(Crazy geezer)

"This is the root tower. Let's go in! In there are Wilson, my wife and the last ice fairies."

We leave the train.

Suddenly the old man begins breathing heavily.
