Vaquin'er Vellosapo watched the raging storm idly, thunder roared in the distance, huge swaths of the terrain were simply eaten up by the unholy amalgamation of natural disasters, and supernaturally sharp raindrops pelted the entrance of his cave, each drop left small indentations in the supernaturally hardened stone that repaired themselves almost instantly.
It was still a few kilometers out but Vaquin'er still could see it with crystal clarity, his vertically slit lilac eyes saw all that was happening outside the storm, the sheer amount of ather he could feel emanating from it was hard to grasp, even for him, and he had a high affinity for the aether.
The mere mention of a storm of such caliber would strike fear into the bravest of knights. But not Vaquin'er, for he was a dragon, the apex of all apex creatures, and soon, bards would sing of the great Vaquin'er Vellosapo and his priceless hoard, but first, he had to survive the aether storm and awaken his innate hoard.
Vaquin'er lazily rose from his resting position, He had been awaiting this day ever since he was a hatchling, his draconic bloodline had filled him with the memories and the necessary instincts he needed to survive until his awakening but it grew less reliable each passing season, he flicked his tale idly as he remembered all the preparation he had to do just for this moment.
It had provided him with one last piece of information before going entirely dormant, no matter how hard he called it simply refused to respond but the dragon wasn't sad about this, it just made life more interesting and He had no regrets as he took full advantage of it when it was still usable.
Formations and ancient glyphs lined the entirety of the medium-sized cave Vaquin'er called home, multicolored lines of aether flowed through each intricate piece gracefully, no intruder would be getting past those, he made sure of it, the dragon could see it all already.

He would awaken an innate hoard befitting of his caliber, grow in strength as he collected all the shiny things of the lands, and instill fear and awe in his allies and foes alike as he flew majestically across the sky with his majestic form.
This was the way of the dragons, after all, nothing could go wrong and all belonged to them, it was just how it is.
Vaquin'er returned back to reality as he sensed the storm, now closer than ever, the dragon hurridly stretched his wings and tail as he shook off the last bit of laziness out of his system, he could relax and enjoy his hard work later, now it was time for greatness, He reasoned.
Vaquin'er strode out of the cave slowly, each step filled with imaginary power and child-like glee, the aether storm was just a mile out, and the dragon watched as his masterfully crafted [DOME OF PROTECTION] flared in response to the raging aether waves, a transparent dome quickly grew over the artificial hill where his cave was located.
Vaquin'er felt proud, this was his first masterpiece of many, this spell had taken an entire season to craft but it was worth it, many of his lesser brethren would've called him a fool. A fool because he used all of his gathered treasures to fule the thing but Vaquin'er wanted his awakening to be special, flashy, and shiny.
Just like he suspected, it held firm, tanking numerous aether slashes as if they weren't even there, but then something unexpected happened, his [DOME OF PROTECTION] flickered for a second, Vaquin'er snapped his eyes open, the ambient aether levels were rising, that wasn't supposed to happen, his dome should have protected and isolated him from everything, not even the aether should be able to enter.
Before he could launch an investigation, however, the dragon felt something slam into him with surprising power, his body began to feel tingly as more of the strange objected pelted him.
More annoyed than anything, Vaquin'er began calling on his aether reserves to form a [HEX SHEILD] when he sensed danger, snapping his head in the direction of the danger Vaquin'er felt a wave of dizziness hit him, his beautifully crafted dome was riddled with small holes, looking down he saw that he was being pelted by pebbles, everything was going to fail because he hadn't configured his dome to protect him from pebbles.
'Dragon's arse!'
