The second realm of the world was that of mana, it created a layer surrounding the realm of the void. This barrier of mana was continually filled with void mana, which in turn cultivated more arcane mana. The continual fueling of mana to the second realm caused currents to form in the mana, where they constantly mix with one another in the continual currents of the second realm. This resulted in the creation of matter that was forced to the fringes of the second realm where it gathered together to form the first plane.

  The mana acted as an insulator for the void's destructive forces so as to not destroy the first plane, but even so, some traces of the void escaped, and created miasma when it mixed with the matter. This toxic alternate form of mana created an inhospitable land, yet life was still formed, and this first form of life was the demons. They survived off of the Miasma that their environment forced upon them. Those who truly embraced the miasma evolved into devils, the strongest in the first plane. Yet the devils were greedy, and they wanted a more beautiful home to live in, and not gaze upon the barren land of their cannibalistic followers. So, the 3 strongest devils forced the others to provide demons for the ritual, and with the largest mass sacrifice in the history of all the planes. They used lifeforce magic to create the new plane, but with lack of knowledge about planes needed to be matter based, they ended up creating the third realm, the realm of life.

  This realm was already starting to form from all the deaths of creatures in the first plane, but it was jump started from the mass sacrifice/slaughter of the demons. The Devils did not know of this new realm, so they continued with their experiments, sending demons to see if they succeeded in their ritual. This was all futile and all those who went died, because the toxic miasma and the lifeforce realm created the effect of a grater. The demons sent through only ended up providing more life force to the realm, but also matter, and as we know, matter is the requirement for planes. So as the Devils sacrificed more and more demons in ever changing ways, they ended up catalyzing the formation of the second plane, one born of lifeforce, demon sacrifice, and mana.
