In the year 2076, a catastrophic event known as the Great Swallowing occurred, completely altering the course of humanity. This phenomenon was inexplicable and occurred suddenly on a seemingly ordinary day.  The Earth shook and split apart, causing buildings to crumble and the oceans to rise and rage against the land, flooding entire cities and towns, leaving countless wealthy and powerful nations destroyed, scarce, and fighting to survive. This event sparked different ideas on how to recover, leading to an ongoing war for resources and control over the territories that had been claimed. However, some people chose to work together to preserve what was most important to them - order.  One city, formerly a bustling powerhouse, still stands in the ashes of the Old World. It's called New Haven, and it is the only known functional society of over one hundred people in the wasteland. Although it is not the same as it was before, it is a symbol of hope for those who seek to rebuild and restore civilization.  Unfortunately, there are those both inside and outside of New Haven who would kill to be at the top and live in luxury. This is to be expected when the rest of the world lives in squalor while a privileged few enjoy wealth and comfort.  Is New Haven really the beacon of hope they portray themselves to be? Or are they just as dark and sinister as the rest? Set in a dystopian universe, this story follows Alvina Simmons in her pursuit of survival.
