22 - City of Mir <1>

Now that I'm done here, I need to go and check whether Yukio needs my help or not. However, my worry has been answered when someone came out of the woods.

Yukio was slouching when he came up to me. There were more wounds in his body compared to when I left him. I guess the light mage has put up a fight even if he was like that.

When he was a meter away from me, his body gave up and fainted. The strain and fatigue have hit him after a long night of fighting.

I picked Yukio off the ground and supported him on my back. This isn't the best place to sleep and recover. There were also things to do before we can completely call it a day.

First things first, I need to go back to where they left Bosu. He is probably confused about the current situation.

We ran not very far away from where we started. It may be too dark to remember the exact location but I recognized the pattern of the trees around here.

'If I remember correctly, he should be here somewhere so why can't I find him. Don't tell me he ran away.'

It was weird since I don't see any traces of Bosu. The only thing I found were the three boxes of Miracle Flower undamaged. I can't imagine he would leave all of these just to run away.

I was roaming within the area to check if I miss some spots where he may be. While I was walking, I stepped on something soft that squealed when I walked past it.

Looking below, I didn't expect to see Bosu still sleeping even after everything was done. His belly fat was bouncing up and down whenever he was breathing deeply. I should probably wake him up now.

*Slap*

I gave a hard slap on his face. This was enough to wake him up in his deep slumber. He was bewildered when the first thing he felt was pain on his cheek. He was about to complain about the slap but he holds back when he saw our current appearances.

"Oy, What happened to you two?" He asked the most reasonable question since we're covered with blood and dirt.

"A lot of things happened. To give you the short version of it, your other guard has plotted to steal your flowers."

"Hmm. How can I believe you?"

"I can show you his and his companions' body if you want."

"Then go ahead."

Bosu surprisingly agreed when I proposed to show him the bodies to prove my point. I thought he would ask for another thing to prove our innocence.

I guided him to where I killed their leader and then to where the head of the burly guard was. Coincidentally, it seems Yukio has finished the light mage right beside to where we found the head.

"They have two more members. The other body is nearby while the last is somewhere west from here. I can show you if you want."

"There's no need. I know these guys."

"You do?"

"They're the one I hired including Tsuchi, the burly guard. And based on what you said, there are five of them."

Bosu contemplated when he saw the people who were once protecting him.

"I thought you said the Tsuchi was the only guy left among the five," I remember what Yukio told me

"That's what I thought too. But when I think about it, I didn't really see them die. When that strange enemy appeared, Tsuchi forced me to ran away for my life saying that those four were not going to make it. So they have planned it from the start, huh.

And I have promised Tsuchi reward for saving me. How disappointing."

Bosu said that but he didn't look like he was regretting at all. But rather, it doesn't look like it was affecting him at all. He moves on and went back to where we were.

"Carry those boxes and give him this potion. It would at least help him last for the rest of the journey. We are going to leave after noontime."

After all of that, he took a potion from his pockets and gave it to me. I did what he told and carried all three boxes while Yukio was on my back. I told him where the carriage was so he could lead the way.

It didn't take long before we reach the original campsite. The place was messier than before. All bags that were rummage are wet from the rain. Luckily, our food rations were still intact. I took one and munch it over the corner after placing Yukio inside the carriage.

Bosu was trying to wake up the horses using the available resources we have. While he was doing that, I took the things that were still useful for our remaining journey.

I saw one of the E - Grade Healing Potion on the ground and drank it. It helps to heal the scratches on my body although it didn't help with my fatigue at all. I decided to take a short nap before we depart.

I told Bosu that I was going to rest and wake me up if I won't be before noon. He approved of it and said that he would take care of Yukio if there was anything wrong with him in the meantime.

With his approval, I closed my eyes.

...

I woke up at the smell of meat being cooked. Looking over the source, Bosu was cooking around the campfire he created. I don't know where he got the meat but it made me hungry when the aroma brushed into my nose. My stomach grumbled because of it and Bosu who was eating heard it.

"Oy, you're awake. I prepared some food before we depart. You can go ahead and take one."

I took my time to reach one of the barbequed meat. I was checking whether Yukio was already up. Bosu might have misunderstood my hesitation because he explained where the meat came from.

"Don't worry, I've been saving these. for emergencies." He emphasized the barbeque that he was holding.

"I didn't see you bring anything besides the boxes. How were you able to store that?"

"Oh, you're not familiar with the 'Spatial Ring?"

"What's that?" An unfamiliar word came out.

"It's an artifact used for inventory purposes. It can store food and anything that could be spoiled to avoid perishing. This ring was given by my family before I went on this expedition."

Bosu was showing off the ring on his finger. The feeling I could sense whenever magic is cast, the ring gave the same feeling.

"If I understand it correctly, it could be used for transporting the flowers right? So why do it the hard way?"

"You're mistaken on that part. The Miracle Flower can't be stored just like that. I didn't tell this at first because I'm afraid you're going to take some of it without my knowledge, but the wooden box doesn't only limit its effects. It also produces the perfect condition it can survive in. The flowers are sensitive to their environment that a little change in the temperature would already result in withering.

If my spatial ring is a much better grade, then maybe I could store the flowers but what I have isn't capable of it."

He explained in detail. This also tells me that he has somewhat of trust in us since he's talking about all of these.

I didn't bother continuing the conversation anymore and went back to the meat in my hand. I was already close to eating all of my barbeques after his explanation. It was well seasoned and the texture when I bite into it was beautifully tender. I didn't expect that he could make it delicious even without the best circumstance.

When all the food was gone, Bosu put out the flames and went to the back of the carriage where Yukio was.

He went closer to Yukio and bandage was created out of thin air. I assume it came from the spatial ring he just talked about. He tended Yukio's wounds and made him drink a healing potion.

'He's a respectable man I must say.'

After changing the bandages, Bosu went in front and ride the horses who were already awake. He designated himself to become the coachman for the rest of the journey. It was already decided we're leaving now. I didn't wait any longer and hopped into the carriage.

Everything was currently here. My luggage and the armors of Yukio that was never used when it was supposed to be used. I leaned on my sword and closed my eyes to take another nap on the journey.

All of the events that transpired have delayed us for half a day. Now it is done, we are back on track to our way to the city of Mir.

'I hope we could still make it for the selection test.'
