I’m still travelling today. It’s been two days, and we’re still a good distance from Hangiel. I can recognise this place since I’ve had so many field trips to Hangiel during my time in the academy. Cassie knows this land far better than I do, but I’m still familiar with the way it looks. Or at least, how it looked.
Nothing but death and destruction meets us at every turn we take through new terrain. These creatures, amalgamations, whatever they are, have done nothing but bring chaos to my home. Each time I see a body on the ground, I get ever more infuriated. Still, Cassie warns against me reviving them. We can sneak in as a pair, but there have been many situations where we would have certainly died if there were more than two of us.
Cassie’s elemental magic is more than a blessing at this point. She’s able to predict the movements of the creatures - which she has dubbed chalkians - and can help us avoid them. Best of all, we’ve gotten to kill a couple chalkians along the way. Cassie was right. They do seem weak against Hashvien skin, though I still can’t figure out why.

I will say, I’m a lot more hopeful, even though our journey might not bring us much in the lieu of rewarding finales. Even if we reach the Likaven’s palace, I’ve got doubts that our presence will be enough to change the tides of battle. Still, we’re only true Hashviens if we’re willing to be a bit reckless.
I can’t help but wonder what Enocavian is doing in all this. Many would likely expect him to be on the frontlines, or at least that’s what I assume. Aside from Cassie, I haven’t actually met anyone. Just seen the corpses. I sincerely hope we can make it to the palace soon, since we’re already in Hangiel.
