“This class is the Magical Mountains.” Mr. Chairion explained, waking in front of the students with his hands firmly on his back.
“Why is it called the ‘Magical Mountains’,” a kid asked, “What's magical about it?”
Mr. Chairion smiled, it was questions like these that bring him to work everyday, “That is a wonderful question, Tim. The magic is how old these trees that you see here are. People say that these trees have been here since the start of time!”
“How can it stay living that long?” another student asked.
“That is also another part of the magic,” Mr. Chiron answered, “I used to come here as a child and the trees always looked the exact same.” Mr. Chiron smiled remembering the moments where he used to sit under the trees and do his homework. “I want all of you to explore this land, learn about it and take in everything you can. Now what are you waiting for! Get on with it!”
In a cave near where the class was learning was a girl named Harmony who was working on a healing concoction that could help save a family member that was sick at the moment, “Could they stop making such a ruckus? There are people that need to work.”
Harmony put in some of her Alsfite liquid into her concoction and started mixing everything together.
“Oh, Aunt Lillian what if you never get better?” Harmony sighed and kept on mixing her concoction.
All around the Mountains there were kids looking and exploring the magical wonders of the place.
From the high mountains you could see the small dots that were cities. The sky was blue and beautiful as ever, there were bright green leaves and pretty flowers and fruits that grew from the trees.
“Hey, Mr. Chairion,” Josh Caden said, holding something in his hands, “Do you know what this is?” He showed Mr. Chairion a blue fruit that was in a shape of a plum.
Mr. Chairion had never seen a fruit like that in all his years of coming to these mountains, “No, I've never seen anything like it.”
Josh examined it more, then shrugged and bit on a piece of the blue fruit.
“Hmmm, it tastes like-” suddenly he started coughing, then the coughing turned into choking.
Mr. Chairion kneeled down to where Josh had fallen over trying to steady him. His eyes were slightly closing.
“He’s breathing-but not for long-we need help.”
Back in the cave where Harmony was working a faint noise started screaming somewhere.
“Help! Someone please.”
For a second Harmony didn’t know if she should run to see what was happening or hide, but after the voice screamed ‘help’ a couple more times Harmony took some of her vials and followed where the voice was screaming.
“Hello?” she called out, “Is someone here?”
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
“Over here.” A voice called from near the mountains area.
Harmony ran towards the voice and to her surprise she came across a group of kids her age all huddled around a boy that was laying down with his eyes closed.
Harmony rushed over to the boy and checked for his pulse, “What happened?” Harmony asked the middle aged man.
“H-he ate the blue fruit-”
“He ate the Kyloberry! That is-” she stopped herself and pulled the man away from all the students, “That fruit that your students ate it’s-it’s…”
“What?” the man asked.
“That fruit is deadly dangerous. It can kill someone if there isn’t a cure.”
Harmony could see in the man's eyes there was hope and a bit of worry, “Is there...a cure?”
Harmony wanted to lie so badly, the only cure that she had was the same she would use to save her aunt, but she saw the man-she could not imagine what would happen if that boy didn’t come home. She could not imagine what this man would be going through if this kid didn’t survive, “There is a cure, but it will take a while.” Harmony took out a yellow bottle, “give him this in the meantime. You have one hour, I promise I will be back as soon as possible.”
The man nodded, “Thank you..”
“Harmony.”
“Mr. Chairion.”
And with that she left for her caves wondering if she was going to make a fool of herself.
“Here, give him this.” Mr. Chairon said, opening Josh’s mouth and pouring the liquid in his mouth.
A few seconds later color started to come back to Josh’s face but he wasn’t cured. His eyes were red and his mouth was black because of the fruit, when he tried to talk all that came out was a groan.
“Where is she?” one kid said.
“Did she lie?” Another one asked.
“You can never trust a stranger.”
Mr. Chairion sighed, “Students, she will come. We have to trust her.”
Harmony worked quickly, trying to put together a cure. She added the Salermine with the Stumbleberry and mixed them together. Harmony took the Alsfite in her hand. This was her chance to save her aunt but it was all going to go away.
Stop, Harmony told herself, I will save her-in time.
She took one last look at the Alsfite and poured it into the cure.
Seconds later the concoction turned from pink to blue to purple. Harmony heated the concoction and waited a long thirty minutes.
After it was done she put it into a bottle and left her cave.
It had been thirty minutes and still no sign of Harmony.
I should have never trusted a young girl. Mr. Chairion thought. Now Josh will die and who will they all blame? Me.”
Mr. Chairon was about to lose hope when a silhouetted figure ran towards him.
It was Harmony, with her shoulder length curly brown hair and purple cape swaying behind her and her sky blue eyes filled with concern.
“Sorry for the delay,” She said, “making medicine is not easy.”
She opened Josh’s mouth and poured the cure.
Not more than seconds later did Josh start to look normal. His eyes were normal color and his mouth no more black.
“Whereami Whatamidoing?” Josh said, his voice still groggy.
Mr. Chairon sighed in relief, he brought Harmony into a hug who didn't seem to like it that much.
“I’m not the touchy type.” She said. “Anyways, I should be going. You have your class to teach.”
Before she left someone’s hand grabbed her wrists. Harmony turned around and saw the boy that she saved had his hands tightly around her wrist. “Thank you,” he said, “I wouldn’t be here without you. What is your name?”
Harmony shook her head, and let go of his hand. She couldn’t let herself become attached to...humans.
Harmony ran towards the forest but stopped, she looked back at the boy and smiled, “The trees say they are happy you are safe.”
And with that she turned to the forest, not knowing if she would ever see that class again.
