The Hazards of Agreeing to a Deal With a Forest

As the forest rushed into motion, Owen’s only consolation was that the forest had promised him no harm. Then again did it actually understand what would harm him? Owen was broken from his panicked thoughts by the fog rushing towards him.

The fog quickly swirled around him before it flooded his mouth and he choked on the feeling. He dropped the flashlight to the ground, reaching both hands to his throat. He couldn’t breathe and he dropped to his knees before he fell back into a sitting position.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity without air, the fog stopped along with the rest of the forest and Owen gasped for air. He was trembling and his breath was ragged, but he was otherwise fine. Definitely not what he expected to happen. Then again what outcome did he think this would have?

“You could have warned me!” He shouted out after a moment into the near silence of the forest.

Apologies, I’ve never done this myself, hence why I needed you. His forest sounded only slightly apologetic (oh great, he was doing the weird emphasis thing now). It seemed very happy with the situation. However, now that you have accepted, we should go over some of the basics.

“Sure, why not?” he remarked sarcastically, the forest ignored him.

Now that you’re Mine, you have certain abilities you didn’t before - let me finish speaking My Hart, I will explain. Owen huffed at His forest’s hushing (ok, seriously why was he doing that).

First, you will always be able to find your way to this clearing, it is Ours so you may also change it to your liking, others rarely find their way here on their own.

Second, you will always know where you and others are in My forest, just focus on the forest and your target, it will likely take time to get used to this.

Third, you can manipulate the space of the forest, like changing how long it takes to get from one spot to another or changing where a path leads.

Fourth, the creatures and plants will not harm you, no matter how dangerous or toxic, you are part of the forest.

Last, you can change your form to better fit the forest, you only have one other at the moment. You will have a harder time leaving the forest in your other form, but you are still capable of leaving, your connection to me is also clearer when outside of the forest in your other form. You should try it out now, reach towards your connection with the forest and then channel that connection into your body.

Well that was a lot of information that he would have to unpack later. But for now Owen might as well try to follow His forest’s instructions

He tried to find the connection, and after a bit, he found it in the back of his head. He reached for it and considered how he was supposed to ‘channel’ it. He pulled it towards him and as Owen pulled it into his chest, he felt fog fill his lungs again, but it wasn’t painful this time. As he breathed out, he felt himself Shift.
