By lunch, Vanessa rested comfortably in her patio lounge chair, back at her normal size. She opened her mouth, took a breath, and blew a flame onto the piece of meat she had in her hand. After a few seconds, she took a sniff of the sizzling piece and bit in.
She wondered if Athan would taste the same as the other grass-types she’d eaten before. He probably would, although it would be harder to eat those who saved her life. As for the nude shots of her, she was pretty confident the guards would notice the cameras and large lenses on them. Though, she was curious how Athan and Fian managed to sneak up that close to take those shots.
Vanessa’s tail took hold of the computer tablet on the table next to her and held it in front of her face. She swiped through work emails and Chloe’s email again. She read it a second time then swiped lower, she hadn’t seen this part of her email.
“We need monsters who can take on powerful clients. But at the same time, I need someone who can be a mentor. The Junior Designer I’m hiring is as much of a monster powered as you are, probably more so. She will keep you on your toes and expects you will challenge her as well. The both of you will create things for clients and destroy our clients if they put us in danger.”

Creation and destruction. Two very simple things which offer unlimited possibilities of expression in art. She would lead a team focused on that. The only thing that nibbled at her was what type of designer did Chloe get who could do such things on her level?
“So, I hope you’ll accept this offer I’m proposing to you. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Chloe.”
She chomped down on the rest of a ground-type’s tail and took the tablet in her hands. She tapped the reply button.
“Hey Chloe,
Sure. I accept your offer. I’ll start later this week. You better have found someone good,
Vanessa.”
She hit send, set the tablet on the table and yawned before drifting off to sleep. She’d take care of the rest later, after a nice long nap.
As she slept, her tablet chimed and its screen turned on.
A new work email notification appeared. Its subject line read:
“CAMPUS SECURITY ALERT: Mass kidnapping in progress: Building 770 area.”
