It had been so long since he was last here, being back in his Goddess domain was almost incomprehensible. The last time he stood in this courtyard was one thousand years ago when he left for his impossible task, his Goddess was Aval the elvish war Goddess. In all reality she will be furious with him because he allowed himself to be captured by humans, he made his way down the hall as he did Aval's servants scurried out of his way.
They seem confused by his presence had it been so long that they forgot about him, it is likely seeing as his name probably wasn't mentioned much in the last one thousand years. He arrived at the throne room, he was nervous a feeling long since forgotten as he pushed the large doors open he could feel the presence of a God. He walked into the throne room and went to Aval's throne, he kneeled before his Goddess " your grace, I have answered your summons and once again I am at your command".
The response he received definitely wasn't what he expected " your drenched in blood, what happened?". He expected yelling or insults at least, this was not expected but of course only Aval could surprise him.
" Protecting humanity proved to be a difficult task, one that never ended". He looked up to see Aval boredom a clear expression on her face, at most she was asking out of curiosity not concern which was to be expected.
" A never ending task? I'm sure a more capable guardian could have handled that task more efficiently". There was a jarring truth about that statement, one she might of already know. Out of every guardian he was the most capable and she knew this, she didn't like him that much is clear and she never will as if it needed to be said.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
He knew how the summit would go, they would present a problem and the Gods would nominate their guardians to go fix said problem as to prevent the Gods from being needed. More often then not the summit problems were suicide mission's, he was always nominated first. Him and a handful of other were sent out and he was always the only one to make it back, many guardians despised the Gods for the way they are treated which makes me wonder what they thought this position was.
" As always you are correct your grace, when shall we travel to the summit ". Once again he looked up to see the peerless pearl that is Aval, he made eye contact and Aval hates eye contact. Aval got up from her throne and sauntered over to him she put one hand on his breastplate.
"My dear Aeden have you forgotten your place" with a gentle push Aval sent Aeden flying back, Aeden hit the door behind him so hard they came down. It had been so long since he last heard that name he had forgotten what it was, guardians don't have names as soon as they join the academy all they have is a number. Gods can give their guardian a name, from what he can gather the name belong to the guardian before him. Aeden got up and kneeled before her once more as this was what she expected, Aeden had unyielding loyalty and was a man of dedication this fact drove Aeden's very existence so he would protect Aval until he died.
" Your grace, I apologize please forgive me" Aeden would gladly sacrifice his life so Aval could survive and she knows this, it might even be why she dislikes him so.
" The summit is tomorrow, we leave at sunrise and you better not embarrass me at the summit". She exited and he followed as she walked through the halls Aeden followed closely behind until she arrived at her room she opened the door and closed it behind her, there Aeden stood back facing the door on alert.
