CHAPTER 202: I’LL BE GENTLE
Aurora checked her surroundings hesitantly and seeing no sign of Cithrel, she sighed in relief.
Then, when she felt the intense gaze of Érica who was holding back laughter, her expression changed for a moment.
“I wasn’t going to wear a princess dress,” Aurora muttered, with a strange look on her face.
Érica’s lips twitched as she saw a part she normally didn’t see of Aurora.
Aurora didn’t mind being a ‘dress-up doll’, truth be told, it wasn’t so bad when others went through the same thing.
Nor did she have little confidence in her appearance or anything like that, but there was a limit.
So when Cithrel started bringing out very colorful princess dresses, she certainly backed off immediately.
In her favor was also not helped by the intense stare that gallant gentleman was giving her and the embarrassment at Alice’s look of understanding.
So how could she not run away in that kind of situation?
“I have to thank you for your help. Without you, I wouldn’t have escaped that cruel fate,” Aurora commented in a serious tone, getting Érica to laugh softly.
It was only thanks to Érica and the others who turned a blind eye that she could escape from that ferocious and extremely charming predator.
Just as she was about to think of where to escape, her holographic clock chimed.
—Something has happened at Andrés’ work. Apparently, his superior was captured by a member of the mafia. He has sent us the location to intervene.
Before she could read what the message said, her system gave her a full report immediately straight to her mind.
Three different locations... Three similar situations.
All were set up as revenge for the emperor.
In each of those locations, a complex magic circle was being prepared that would use the innocents in its vicinity as sacrifices to create many monsters.
Only one of those had a hostage.
All the information was shocking, and Aurora understood immediately.
“Inform Alice and Cithrel to take care of the other two places. I’ll go get the third one where the hostage is,” Aurora ordered immediately as she put on all her equipment at high speed and, without hesitation, she added. “Inform the authorities. I will begin action immediately.”
Érica was completely taken aback at her words and couldn’t understand anything.
Aurora didn’t care that she had no headset, and that she sounded like she was talking to herself, at this point, it was the least of her concern.
“Something happened. It involves a ritual, sacrifices, and a hostage... Maybe more,” Aurora reported quickly.
“What?” Érica asked, but perhaps because of the seriousness of her tone and that she had gone into work mode, she quickly employed the ‘quick change’ skill to put on all the battle gear.
Aurora felt the same disbelief as Érica.
Leaving aside the mafia’s revenge that was apparently still active, the problem was the ritual... Such action made her feel that it was something last minute and totally reckless.
The use of human sacrifices showed the lack of limits and at the same time how dangerous a reckless person could be.
Regardless of whether the authorities could notice anything before it took place, the preparation for it was already worrying.
However, regardless of the external factors, Aurora pulled out a flying device and began to move, causing Érica to enter her same flight.
“I’ll explain on the way...” she pointed out in a simple tone.
Now, all that mattered was rescuing the hostage and stopping everything before something worse happened.
As for the other places, she was confident that her companions would work well.
******
Cithrel read the message with a serious expression.
“I’ll go for the one on the west side,” Alice reported in a simple tone, and before she could say anything to her, the shadow swallowed her up immediately.
Alice only needed Aurora to point out the location just to move... Cithrel was surprised at that quick reaction and total confidence.
“Something has happened. Take care of Taqiyya for me.” Cithrel requested with a serious tone to the others and gave a signal to Venali.
When she nodded, Cithrel waved her hand, and in the next instant they were high in the sky.
Her gaze took in the surroundings, and she headed east, using space magic.
Alice had wisely left her, the farthest place, and that was because they recognized the movement ability of a space mage.
“I don’t understand how Aurora can get into so much trouble,” Cithrel muttered as she performed another teleport following the map.
The muttering was part in jest and half-amused by the situation.
Aurora was a lovely and great beauty, but Cithrel found that young woman’s personality to be charming.
The times she blushed at her flirtatious comments had a great appeal, and more so when one thought that in her work, she was a very serious person.
Thinking about it, she licked her lips helplessly.
“Your Majesty, your expression,” Venali informed her as she stopped.
Cithrel stopped and touched her face, noticing a slight difference.
“I’m sorry. I still can’t seem to adjust,” Cithrel said, and with a smile, she looked at Venali and commented. “You know, it’s the hunger.”
Venali just nodded, averting her gaze seriously.
They both went back to moving again and then appeared in front of a multi-story building.
“In the basement is the magic circle. It has a barrier covering it to prevent the demonic aura from being emanated. Probably, when the ritual is performed, the authorities will intervene,” Cithrel analyzed, using her knowledge of this world.
Before, in Terra nova, because of the lack of communication and security, villages far away from the empire could suffer some ritual by a demon and be completely eradicated.
Because of this fact, different security measures and protocols were created and advanced with the magical development of Terra nova.
One of them was to detect the demonic energy that was common when performing this type of ritual, and even the demonic aura that was the previous part of the ritual.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
In this sense, the barrier they put up was a measure to stay hidden, but it would not last long enough, since when the ritual began, the aura from within would emanate and the authorities would be alerted.
The earthlings had the means to detect temporary dungeons and monsters that might appear from time to time, it was clear that they would have the means to detect when such a ritual took place.
If not for that, the demons and their sects would have already brought the world down with their improvised rituals.
Casting a space magic spell to locate the individuals, Cithrel sensed the entire building.
“There are several enemies inside. They are in the basement and in the upper area,” Cithrel muttered.
Venali nodded and instead of pulling out the katana Cithrel gave her, she pulled out a short sword that would allow her to engage in close combat in an enclosed area.
“Everyone seems to be A-Rank, however, don’t be careless. We’ll go with the idea of suppression to avoid trouble.” Cithrel ordered as they landed in the rear.
When she got agreement from Venali, who took the lead, Cithrel looked at the door and waved her hand.
Everything around the door distorted, and without the sound spreading, the door appeared next to them.
Walking with Venali taking the lead, a guard noticed them enter.
“The police forces have arrived!” shouted the guard, taking the sword in fear and, at the same time, anger.
His voice came out, but nothing happened because Cithrel had cast a spell of air magic to control the sound.
She had also placed a large barrier with space magic covering the building to detect their enemies at all times and at the same time prevent them from fleeing.
The guard, unaware that his warning went unheeded, attacked Venali, but she only deflected the guard’s sword and then hit him in the stomach.
“...”
With a single blow, the guard was sent flying, hitting the wall painfully without spreading noise or generating a tremor.
As he was about to get up spitting blood, Cithrel waved her hand, getting the wall to catch him, and then, without looking, they continued into the basement.
Simple and efficient, they were both S-Rank, and that was quite high in this world and in Terra nova, but there was a tremendous difference between the two.
Terra nova individuals to reach that rank couldn’t do it by understanding: one had to kill creatures to ‘get’ experience and level up.
That meant it was easier to move up the ranks and become strong in Terra nova because of the experience gained, however, it was dangerous.
While Cithrel was a princess with many powerful, very loyal guards, it didn’t mean she took advantage of them and the way she was raised was one where she had to not only learn to rule but to become strong on her own.
Sometimes it was single-handedly, sometimes accompanied by strangers and sometimes she did it alone and in the end, she became an S-Rank experienced enough that now her opponents were wimps.
Cithrel waved her hand again and in the nearby room, the oxygen disappeared and the person inside was knocked unconscious from lack of air.
When she entered the basement, she found two men and a woman dressed as a businesswoman.
“HA!”
Without even hesitating, the two men attacked using swords.
They were A-Rank swordsmen and had their own sword auras, but Venali only moved by deflecting the blows without moving.
The difference in technique between Venali and those swordsmen was abysmal.
They not only trained on their own, but had masters who could be considered the best in the art of swordsmanship.
Elves with an enormous amount of experience who lived thousands of years... Their techniques were deficient, even for Cithrel, who had some understanding in the sword’s art and not to mention Venali.
“Enough!” shouted the woman, dressed as a businesswoman.
A mental ripple spread out using an energy that was not in her world, and Venali froze for a second.
However, before the sword of one of the crooks could reach her body, Venali reacted instinctively.
Her body reacted and her sword, infused with her reddish sword aura, moved, cutting her opponent’s sword and with it the man’s neck.
The difference in weapons was made evident...
“Ugh...”
The man held his neck and fell to the ground, but the reddish aura of Venali’s sword ate away at the flesh, getting the wound to open up.
Venali struck the other man and Cithrel ignored her as her eyes focused on the man bleeding out on the ground.
Blood fell to the floor, staining the floor red and filling the entire room with a scent that to Cithrel was... Delicious.
“I’m sorry, your majesty. I’m still not used to psionic energy,” Venali said, lowering her head in apology.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t resist it, the problem was that it made her body react instinctively to defend itself without holding back her strength.
Those words brought Cithrel to her senses, and she realized that she had let that crook die.
However, there was no change of expression on her face... At least not in the way a young lady of her age in this world would.
Staring at the bloody corpse and then giving the look to the other man, who was knocked unconscious by Venali, Cithrel tried to control herself.
The smell, the blood, and finally the woman who was looking fearfully at what had happened all made it so she couldn’t help but resist.
“Really, hunger is a problem for us,” Cithrel muttered, and looking at the woman, she gave a smile and commented. “I’ll just get my fill... It’ll be quick.”
Step by step, approaching the woman. Cithrel’s eyes filled with a strong glow, and the bluish color of her eyes stood out even more.
With an overwhelming charm, the woman lowered all her guards and at her single glance, was completely enchanted by her figure.
Without resisting, she held the gaze as if Cithrel suddenly became her everything.
Noticing that look, Cithrel’s smile grew.
“Don’t worry... I’ll be gentle.” The princess murmured.
Revealing her long, gleaming white fangs.
******
Alice gave her a glance at the apartment she was in.
“Ugh...”
“Ghaa...”
“Help...”
Moans were all around her, and cries for help echoed.
All around were several thugs who were either unconscious or groaning in pain from several broken bones.
Alice’s gaze was indifferent, and she didn’t care about any of them.
She looked at the magic circle that stood in the large room and shook her head at the futility of such a creation.
It was a complex magic circle, but with a simple purpose.
Its complexity came from the fact that it was difficult to create and quite a bit of knowledge was needed not only in magic circles, but about demonic art, but its purpose was simple.
Using the flesh and blood of the sacrifices would create quite a few monsters through magical energy.
A sacrifice would be a monster and its extension was the most complex because it covered about one or two kilometers.
Being in a residential area meant that quite a few people would be sacrificed and many monsters would be created.
The problem was that it turned out to be a primitive creation because Rank B and even Rank C individuals would sense that something was wrong and before they died, they would run away.
On the other hand, the authorities would immediately notice.
Of course, this type of magic circle had its benefit.
First of all, they only needed the materials to create the magic circle, since everything else depended on sacrifices and knowledge.
Ignoring the groans of pain around her, Alice made her shadow swallow all the crooks and broke the magic circle quite easily.
She used her shadow as a prison to prevent them from escaping or giving warning to their allies if they had any.
Then, when her shadow returned to her feet and with no one around her, she opened the holographic clock.
Looking at the map, she could figure out where Aurora was and at the same time, she could see where Cithrel was.
“Will this be all?” Alice hesitated in a simple tone.
When she read the message, she thought it was a more complex and dangerous magic circle that needed to be stopped immediately, but now she realized that this was all simply created.
One could even say it was a last-minute thing.
Looking at the map where Aurora seemed to be about to reach her target, Alice glanced at Cithrel’s map, where she had remained in one place even though she had arrived first.
The location was present on her map thanks to Liam, having arranged for Venali and Cithrel’s holographic clock to always mark the position.
They were her protection targets and even if it didn’t look like it, Alice was trying to do her job.
Asking Aurora if she needed help or should she go to Cithrel, her sister replied to go to the princess.
She could tell that Aurora wanted to make sure that everything was all right so that she could take care of her part without fear.
At such an answer, Alice obeyed immediately and pulled a scroll from her space ring.
Tearing it without flinching, her surroundings changed and before she knew it, she was a hundred meters from Cithrel’s position.
This was another object to maintain her target’s safety and keep her always under surveillance.
Heading quickly to the building, Alice stopped at the entrance when she noticed a thick spatial barrier surrounding the building.
As she was about to break it, it came apart on its own.
Alice looked at the building, subtly sensing what was going on inside, and waited until Cithrel finally came out.
“Sorry, we went a little overboard and one person ended up dead. While another was severely injured with heavy blood loss,” Cithrel said with an apologetic and slightly embarrassed tone.
She sounded sincere and embarrassed, as if someone dying was a rookie mistake.
Alice watched that princess’s blue eyes sparkling with false innocence.
“If you feed, just erase all your tracks, unless you want to cause media trouble,” Alice advised calmly.
Cithrel’s and Venali’s expressions immediately froze.
“What?” Cithrel asked, trying to regain her calm.
Alice gave an unresponsive smile.
“Aurora, does she know?” Cithrel asked, regaining some composure, but her tone sounded strange.
The look she was giving her wanting to find out the truth was amusing to Alice, and she opened a bag of chips and then gave a glance at her holographic watch.
“Who knows? Aurora is more perceptive than she looks,” Alice replied in a mysterious tone.
Cithrel was silent at that ambiguous and inaccurate answer, and Alice simply ignored it.
Noticing that Aurora was about to approach her target, she glanced at Cithrel.
“Just remember, Aurora has a good heart,” Alice muttered and when Cithrel nodded involuntarily, her gaze grew more intense and she announced. “If you hurt her in any way... You’ll pay for it.”
A cold tone and an indifferent look at life.
The way it could be ‘paid’ in her eyes was in a very simple and direct way... Death.
And Alice didn’t mind acting that way if she believed it was necessary.
That was the difference with her sister.
