Exp can be gained through killing other beings either a, giving you an arbitrary number based upon level degree of difficulty or b giving you the combined total of all exp spent to get to their level however, you can also gain exp by doing what your job makes you best at ie for a baker, baking and for an assassin assassinating people

I cut up the lady and give part of the liver to the young Gossling it takes a few seconds but she tentatively takes a few bites so I nudge the meat a little more forward and eventually she starts to devour it ravenously.
