A budding friendship
On the day the world changed, there were three people who resisted. Their names were Nigel, Ragz, and Alex. They slept through the probes the gods sent to alert everyone and even the messengers sent to wake them up.
"Wake up!" shouted Nike.
"Five more minutes, Mom!" moaned Nigel.
"You insolent little—" Nike began.
"Wait, you're not my mom," Nigel said.

"I should smite you off the face of this planet," threatened Nike.
"Let's start from the beginning, Nigel," Nike said.
"Wait, have I told you my name yet?" Nigel asked, thinking out loud.
"Shut up, you worm. I am the goddess Nike, and you slept through the changes we made to the world," she said smugly.
"Oh, crap, am I dead?" Nigel asked.
"Aren't you listening to me, you brat!" screamed Nike.
"You are alive for now, but you are starting to piss me off, and I might kill you for your insolence," Nike purred.
"Fine, say your bit or I'm leaving," Nigel commented.
"The world will never be the same as what you're used to. We sent an announcement to everybody on earth. You and two others slept through it. We made it so everyone would find out. You are an anomaly. I’m starting to speculate that by pure stubbornness alone, you managed to sleep through the message," Nike remarked.
"Hey, I think I read this somewhere. I think it was called The God’s Game. Oh well. In The Gods game, the people who slept through the messages got a curse and three wishes," Nigel stated.
"You would be right. Maybe you're not all that bad…" Nike puzzled.
"Let me guess, you're going to curse me with a curse that makes it so I can't sleep," Nigel said.
"Yes, Nigel. Yes, I am," Nike admitted.
