Before the world was fully developed
There were small groups of people all over the world. There were leaders, elders, generals and kings. People who ran country’s, cites, towns and villages across the land.
In a small poor village in the south of Japan there lived a boy. This boy had loving hardworking parents who did all they could to provide a good life for their son. As the boy grew, he realized how hard his parents tried to make his life better than theirs had been. They both came from broken homes with families who treated them and each other poorly. He realized how poor the village was and how tired everyone was just trying to get through each day.
From this the boy became determined. He swore to do all he could to improve the lives of his people as his parents had done for him. He became hungry for knowledge, he began teaching himself about everything he possibly could. He first learned how to cook and how to hunt with his mother and father. He began offering assistance to anyone in his village who needed help and learned many things through his trails. He trained himself late into the night to focus his mind and become strong. When he turned 12 the farmers and the craftsmen’s took him under their wings and taught him all they could. He learned about healing practices and education from the women in his town, He would constantly pester travelers and trades men to teach him what they knew. When he was 15 he took his first journey to neighboring towns to work and learn all he could. He always returned home after his travels bringing goods, and information for his people. The town flourished, the young man taught his people things that improved all aspects of their lives. As years went by he gained a reputation as an extremely hardworking and knowledgeable young man. Leaders began inviting him across the country to learn from in exchange for knowledge and training. Even so he would always return home bringing with him new things to prosper his people. When he came of age his people decided to make him the leader of their town. With his people behind him, he grew their town into a prosperous city that in a decades time would become the country’s capital. The man never stopped learning, during that decade he began traveling across the globe to learn from kings and leaders everywhere. The capital became the most prosperous land in the world and they declared the man their king. They proclaimed him the king of a thousand skills.
God looked down at this human and was pleased in his effort of what he had done for his people. He appeared before them.

“You have done right by your people. You have worked so that non would suffer. You have lead the world into a new era. I will honor you by immortalizing you as the god of skill. Go forth and find others worthy of becoming gods of their skill. When you are ready to die, chose the next god of skill and entrust them to ensure the future for the next generation.”
God cast down his power unto the man.
The man’s hands began to glow the shade of every color and power ripped through his soul.
After that day the man was able to do anything he knew with perfection.
He sent word out to the entire world.
“Bring me your best men and women, show me they are the best at their skills and I will make them a god.”
People came from everywhere came to show their skills, fighters, people of sport, artists, healers. Anyone who claimed to be the best of anything. The king held challenges for every skill and appointed the winners gods of their skill.
And that’s how the gods came to be.
Today gods are common. The first gods continued to pass on their power to those they found to be worthy and In turn those gods did as well. The old gods traveled across the world searching for the best of humanity and awarding them the tidal of a god. For every kind of skill there were people who perfected certain aspects. The god of art appointed 7 artists who mastered one of the 7 arts and they passed down their powers to more artists who proved their specific skills in that craft. Today there exists a god of cat doodles, silent puppet shows and miniature mushroom homes. All have absolute power of perfect skill however specific or useful that skill might be.
People compete continuously to become perfect at any skill to possibly become its next god. Innovation grows with people trying to create new skills in every aspect of life.
Many of the old gods raised their children to become masters of skill and made them gods, creating generations of wealth and power. Others created institutions or competitions to decide their next successor. Today there are millions of competitions deciding gods in every town in the world. Teenagers 12 and older are allowed to compete for the title of a god. People who invent a new skill are appointed their title once they prove their skill to be unique.
The world is run by the god of ruling. Her family has held the title since the first gods. Her generals, the god of combat, swords and guns control her armies. Her cabinet oversees branches of leadership that form a central government for the world.
Somewhere along the way the god of skill and his family disappeared trying to escape the greed and power of the first gods. The first gods created a network of power throughout the world, before long these families ruled over everything.
