The beginning

The beginning

In the beginning there was nothing. The universe ,as we have come to know it, was no where to be seen. There was neither time nor space, light nor darkness, warmth nor cold. In the beginning there was nothing, then there was everything. In a single inexplicable moment a being, who had been always been, changed it all. Suddenly light flowed into the nothing bringing with it darkness. Time and space bound the light to the darkness as an eternal adversary. Stars winked into existence and massive globes of matter began to revolve around them. The greatest change however came with the most miraculous creation of all, life. As the universe came into being so too did its guardian, its protector and its master. In that moment God opened its eye.

God looked down upon the universe for a time, amazed by the beauty of existence. It is unknown how long this was the way of things, the massive universe simply spiraling through the darkness with its silent protector watching from the shadows. But is known is what happened next. With a silent air of curiosity and bliss God stepped forward and gave the gift of life to the universe. He flitted from one world to the next, creating life and rules to govern it. In each he made a wide variety of creatures, creating according to his will and whim. However he kept one thing consistent, on each planet he created at least one race in his image. A race with two arms and legs just like his with a single head above. Of course some things he changed to satisfy his need to create something new. Each one of his creation, which he affectionately named "Man", received a different set of features set into its head so that they might differentiate between each other. He gave them gender so that they might reproduce and multiply on their own. He lastly gave them the greatest gift of them all, the gift of free will so that they may do as they wish just as he does and amuse him with their actions.

So time passed and God sat back as his creations grew, learnt and flourished. As man grew more and more powerful God gave them challenges to amuse himself. The first was death, man would, in time, begin to age and finally would "die" meaning stop all movement and interaction with its brethren. Each man handled this challenge in his own way much to god's entertainment, some were frightened and sought to escape death. Others accepted it as an inevitability and simply ignored it. This led to a slew of new creations to test man's will and reactions. Hunger, Famine, disease, the ability to end others lives. Each new test brought into existence defeated God's growing boredom for a short while but it always returned. The desire for something new, something fresh, and so the cycle began. God would create, bless, nurture, challenge, curse and finally he would destroy his creations only to begin anew.
