Chapter 1-The Gluttonous Cultivator
Lin Long Yan would never question why he had been given such an odd name but he was happy and content with his lot in life. He had a loving grandfather, a loving household that was well off and lived in Qilong City one of the most prosperous city of the Ren Empire.
With his fmily background and wealth Lin Long Yan could afford being a spoiled prince for the rest of his life with no problems, though that was not what he was aiming for. It would be just wasting the ‘cheat’ he had been given and so he aimed for being the best gourmet in the world with his name being synonymous with food and feasts.
‘The goddess Hestia was really a kind goddess to give me these cheats and I am going to extol her virtues in this new life.’ Reincarnation had been kind to Lin Long Yan and he gave it all to the kind goddess that had greeted him in the afterlife.
‘Still being reborn in a cultivation world is a problem.’ When he first learnt of what kind of world he had been born into Lin Long Yan had been excited but his excitement fizzled out as he recalled just how brutal and vicious the worlds of cultivation were and even the tamer ones included lots of random killings for the most petty of reasons.
Really killing someone just because they looked at you wrong was quite extreme but to top it all off the killer had the gall to act like that the person he had just killed was his lifelong enemy whom he could not tolerate being on earth for even a second.
Lin Long Yan thought they were just stories and even though he had not gotten any confirmation regarding those stories he was going to do his damn best not to get into those kind of situation and vowed to train himself to the bone to avoid being in such situations. ‘Only through proper training can I avoid being killed as an afterthought.’ This world was cruel and he was not going to let it break him.
‘Grandpa says that I can start training starting from next week.’ He was now four years old and was deemed old enough to start training in martial arts and cultivation. They had already checked for his potential and which while high was nothing too amazing at least nothing compared to the ten geniuses of the Ren Empire, but it was still high enough for him to be considered a future powerhouse, which was enough for his grandfather to consider him good enough to receive his personal tutelage.
That may sound cold and arrogant of his grandfather, but Lin Long Yan knew better than to think so. He had heard how his grandfather had once rejected the then third prince of the Ren Empire now the current Emperor due to his low talent and aptitude and years later had to reject his own son from receiving his personal tutelage due to having similar or lower talent then the Emperor, least he offend the royal faction.
Since then only those who had supreme talent could become his grandfather’s direct disciple and receive personal training and Lin Long Yan being considered just good enough still showed just how great his talent and potential really was.
‘Grandfather was really relieved that I was just good enough.’ The tears that his grandfather shed when he proclaimed that he was just good enough to receive his personal tutelage told Lin Long Yan just how much the act of unable to teach his son, his own blood and flesh, had weighed his heart over the years and his grandfather was now free of such a burden.
Lin Long Yan knew just how much the act of being able to teach him matter to his grandfather and he would put his life and soul into fulfilling every part of his training. That and he would rather not die in his first encounter with a ‘Young Master’.
‘I really have to step up to the challenge.’ Lin Long Yan thought as he was all fired up but his body was fired up in a different kind of way.
‘GROWWLLLL…’ His stomach screamed in hunger and Lin Long Yan could not help but be embarrassed at how his stomach ruined his motivational moment.
Willing a golden apple into existence Lin Long Yan happily munched on the apple. It was times like this that he was really happy that goddess Hestia gave him the power to create any kind of food ex nihlo. It really made it convenient for him to summon apples to eat anytime as his new body always seemed to be in a state on constant hunger.
‘And my training would just increase my appetite.’ Lin Long Yan thought but it was okay as far a side effects go and they did say that ‘hunger was the best appetizer’ so it made his training all the more appealing. ‘I’m really looking forward to training with grandfather.’
################################
The day of his training arrived and Lin Long Yan was in the courtyard with his grandfather.
His grandfather was sitting cross legged over a stone table and there was a smaller stone table in front of him at which Lin Long Yan sat cross legged, just like his grandfather.
His grandfather then began his lesson.
“Cultivation is the road to become an immortal. It is the path by which warriors, scholars even artisans like painters and poets thread to become immortals either through becoming legends with their names echoeing throughout all the realms and eras yet to come or by becoming god-like beings and seeing those very eras pass by them in a blink of an eye. Either way cultivation is the path only threaded by those whose dream of becoming immortal and not for the faint of heart or the weak. It is the path of the strong and if you expect it to be easy then you are a fool for even genii would fall and be humbled by the arduous nature of the path they are walking and sooner or later they would achieve greatness for the price of failure is death and being forgotten by the world and time itself.”
Lin Long Yan had expected a lot of things but this, this was not one of them. in his past life he had read many wuxia, xianxia and other xuanhuan stories with numerous paths of cultivation and cultivation systems but none could ever claim to lay down the path of cultivation like his grandfather had and make it seem so grand yet frightening to behold.
‘Wait, I think E* G** explanation on cultivation was better.’ Lin Long Yan thought but could not seem to recall much of it due to it being a long time ago even in regards to his past life. ‘Still his explanation may have been better but they could not hold the same gravitas in hearing grandpa explain it.’
Reading and hearing it were really different things, the difference was like that of heaven and earth and none could match it. Really it made him, want to just go out there and cultivate just hearing it.
“So even knowing this do you want to walk this path?” his grandfather asked. The question was but a formality but still he asked as he wanted to know his resolution as he gazed intently into his eyes.
“Yes grandfather and I will become an immortal and live to see eras pass by.” Lin Long Yan resoluted replied not cowered by his grandfather’s gaze and instead met his gaze with his own, as his eyes brimmed with his determination.
“Good, good.” His grandfather nodded seeminly approving his resolution, “Remember no matter how talented one may be, if one does not have the determination and will to see things through. All that they would be doing would be like using gold to buy manure.”
Lin Long Yan sweatdropped at the idiom as while he did knew that it meant wasting gold and talent but being from the 21st century Earth meant that he knew that there were farmers that bought manure with gold and double their investments with their bountiful harvest.
‘Gah, I really need to curb my need to correct the misconceptions of other people.’ Lin Long Yan lamented as he tried his best not bust out into a rant. It really irked him when people used idioms wrongly or idioms that could be interpreted as something else.
So Lin Long Yan just smiled and nodded in agreement and kept his expression full of awe and joy, which was not hard as his grandfather began to go into the basics of cultivation.
“Now before learning about how to cultivate you must learn what the different stages of cultivation are and how they affect the body, mind and soul of the cultivator.
The first stage is the body conditioning stage, which like its namesake is the stage where the cultivators condition their body into peak physical form. Only though intense training, meditation and a healthy diet would a cultivator be able to temper their body and gain access to their inner energies and once they do then that means that they have successfully conditioned their body and are ready for their next step.”
Lin Long Yan nodded as he soaked in the information but he was confused by some part of the explanation.
“I see that you have questions, ask them freely as knowing what, how and why we are doing things would greatly help you cultivation.” His grandfather did not miss his confused expression, so he decided to stop his explanation for a bit, to answer any query that Lin Long Yan had. Lin Long Yan was touched that his grandfather would go that far to answer even his based doubts and so he bowed in respect to his action.
“I thank you grandfather for considering my doubts and by you permission I would like to present my doubts and questions.”
“Ask them away.” His grandfather smiled humouring him.
“First of all when you said that we have to temper our body to peak physical form does that not mean that the body conditioning technique should take years as a child no matter how strong he gets would not still be at his full physical potential and only when he is at an age of around 20-25 years would his body be able to be at peak physical maturity. So how come there are cultivators that have crossed this stage and move on to the other stages at such young ages even like as young as six where the child’s body could not even compare that to an average adults physical might.”
His grandfather took in his words and was impressed by it and he then began to explain.
“That is true but the special martial arts and physical training that one uses and undergoes during this process is the key here. They are able to quickly build up the child’s physical characteristics and ingrain in their body special physical features depending on their martial arts and training regime. Sure a child may not be as strong an adult but the techniques and training they undergo more than makes up for it to push them to the edge of their full capabilities and even trump full grown adults. The martial arts and training regimes allow their body to become stronger with time as they keep practicing and training which is why many families are keen on getting the best of the best martial arts and training techniques to develop their members.”
Lin Long Yan nodded and could even see the logic in that even though there were still some holes in it.
“There is also the fact that most people when they are able to sense and channel their inner energies think that they have completed the process when that is not the case. The faster one is able to sense their inner energy the lower the time they have spent on conditioning their body and so being able to quickly grasp one inner energy is not always a good thing as it often than not, to the shame of many great clans, leads to the so called prodigies to ignore the body conditioning training.”
That clarified a lot of thing for Lin Long Yan but there were still some things that confused him. “Does that mean that even after learning how to harness our inner energies we can’t say that we have completed our body conditioning training?”
“Yes, and you should never consider it complete. As you have state our body grows stronger with age and keeping it in peak condition through constant training is a must.”
“Why though? Why is it necessary to keep our bodies in peak condition?”
His grandfather smiled as he said, “It is necessary to keep our body in peak condition as it helps in the production and regulation of a balanced inner energy throughout the body. The healthier our body is the more inner energies it can produce and safely regulate, this brings us to the next topic, inner energy or as we commonly know it, ‘OD’.”
‘Nice Segway.’ Lin Long Yan thought as he intensely listened to his grandfather’s words and heard the familiar term.
“Od is the inner energy produce by all living beings and some scholars even regard it as our lifeforce.”
“Is it?” Lin Long Yan asked intrigued by the concept of od.
“That is debatable.” His grandfather smiled mysteriously and Lin Long Yan knew that there had to be a story behind that smile. “Many of its characteristics of healing wounds, enhancing ones strength and physical might and even granting strange abilities all makes it more mysterious and depletion of it can cause severe exhaustion, even advance aging in a person and even cause death.”
“Really?” Od depletion was that dangerous?!
“Yes but for now you must know that accessing od is the key step in the life of a cultivator as it is trough channelling od that a cultivator would be able to truly temper his body forge it anew.” His grandfather continued, “Cultivators use their own od to vitalise their muscles and bones and temper them, changing each and every part of their body under the fires of their od, burning away their impurities and being reborn anew like a phoenix from the ashes. They would not only have a body that is superior to any mortal flesh and bones but their own lifespan would now be measured in centuries.”
‘That was a novel way of explaining and looking at the body tempering stage.’ Lin Long Yan thought as his grandfather continued on.
“When the body has been tempered and reborn, then would one understand and gain access to ones’ spirit channels and begin the next stage called Channel Opening as one would begin to open each and every one channel using their od.”
Lin Long Yan was oddly finding all the explanation all too familiar and it was not in regards to cultivation.
“These spirit channels exist inside all of us and act like secondary blood vessels and everyone is born with a fixed amount of spirit channels numbering more than 50 with some even going up to 200 and one person even 567 spirit channel. People born with special constitutions or hailing from long line of cultivators are gifted with a higher than average number of spirit channels and that gives then a huge edge over most cultivators but there have even been times where even a commoner is born with higher than average number of spirit channels.”
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
That was quite interesting but there was one thing that stood out to Lin Long Yan.
‘Mana seriously?’ that was just way too familiar and Lin Long Yan had a sinking feeling that some reincarnator had being reborn in the past and went full weebo and slapped all those familiar terms on the things.
“The spirit channels allow a cultivator to gather mana from the air. Mana is the energy of the world and surrounds all of us and the spirit channels in our body allow us to absorb the mana in the air and safely store them in our diantian. The more channels a cultivator has the more mana he will be able to absorb.” His grandfather then looked at him and said, “You may be wondering just why we absorb mana.” to which Lin Long Yan nodded.
“We absorb mana and store it in our diantian so that we cultivators can for what we call ‘Spirit Ocean’ inside our diantian and thus begin the next stage of cultivation the Ocean Creation stage.”
Lin Long Yan found himself easily following the explanation as it was quiet similar to the many cultivation systems he had read in his past life but instead of absorbing spiritual energies like in those systems here it was absorbing mana.
“The Spirit Oceans are wells of mana that one would form in their diantian and a person would form seven Spirit Oceans in their path to cultivation. Some have tried to form eight or even nine but the additional oceans have just resulted in the cultivators exceeding their limitations and paying dearly for it. The consequences they faced were worse than even when they would have lost their cultivation or life.” His grandfather warned no doubt wanting him to curb thoughts of creating more than seven spirit oceans.
The threat of facing a consequence worse than losing one’s cultivation, now that was a scary thought as Lin Long Yan knew just how much cultivators value their cultivation and how important it was to them. ‘Well there goes that plan of becoming a unique person and breaking the mould by creating higher than normal spirit oceans.’ Lin Long Yan thought though he was going to look into first and see just why they failed.
“The growth of a spirit ocean is a long and slow process. It would grow and grow inside the diantian of the cultivator via the spirit channels where the cultivator would soak in the mana in the air to full up the spirit ocean and he would keep on doing so till the cultivator finds the limits of the spirit ocean. Now the size of the Spirit Ocean depends on a variety of things but normally it is associated with the number of the spirit channel ones possess. The higher the number of spirit channels the larger the spirit ocean of a cultivator, though the method of cultivation, their constitution and even the realm they are born in often decides the spirit ocean as well.”
“What so many factors? Then how does one really know what their size of the spirit ocean would be.” Lin Long Yan asked confused by the whole thing.
“General rule of the thumb all follow is the more spirit channels one has the bigger their spirit ocean would be.” his grandfather replied.
“Does the size of the spirit ocean even matter?”
“The bigger it is the better as is the general perception but I think that it is not the size that matters but how they use it.” His grandfather chuckled and Lin Long Yan did his best to ignore those words. “Still the size of the spirit ocean does play a part as the spirit ocean acts as a reservoir of energy that one can use it to fuel various spells like this one.” His grandfather said as his hands glowed and flames slowly burned into life then fuse into one forming a small red monkey that leapt at him before disappearing into ashes.
“That’s so cool!” Lin Long Yan shouted and his grandfather showed him more spells ranging from water, ice to even lightning and darkness. After a few more demonstration the two settled down and his grandfather continued with the explanation.
“When the cultivator forms his first spirit ocean and fills it up, he would then use the mana from the spirit ocean and pull it like a stream away from his diantian and into his body and using that string of mana use it to create a second spirit ocean and fill it up till it too grows to its limits, after which he would go on to use the second to create the third, the third to create the forth and so on till he has created the seven spirit ocean in his body, with each of the spirit ocean feeding the subsequent spirit oceans.”
“Huh, they sound quite like how the streams and rivers feed into the ocean.” Lin Long Yan commented and his grandfather nodded at that.
“That comparison has been made a lot of times and it is quite accurate too. just as the streams and rivers end up in the oceans so too does the mana of the world and just as the water in the oceans disperses into the air which then feeds the mountains and forms the ice peaks and glaciers that is the source of the rivers, so too does the mana inside one spirit ocean slowly disperses back into nature via the pores on the body and through one’s breath.”
Lin Long Yan could not help but be in awe at how the explanation was just too precise and too logical for a supernatural system.
“Then how does one even increase their spirit ocean if they are dispersing it back into the air?” Lin Long Yan wondered as it felt like a useless endeavour if the ‘mana’ of nature was just being dispersed back.
“Just as the ocean does not dry up just creating some few rivers, so too one’s spirit ocean would remain full most of the time, though it could be depleted as one uses the mana inside the spirit ocean to fuel the various techniques and use them in fight. There have even been cases of a person naturally depleting their spirit oceans but that is more of a case of them being in hibernation and not doing anything to refill their spirit oceans and even then the process takes centuries.”
That was something but there was another thing as well. “Wouldn’t cultivators then just absorb all the mana and leave none in the environment.”
His grandfather laughed lightly at that approving his observation. “Yes they might but the presence of other humans, animals, plants and the mystical beasts prevents that from happening.”
“Huh?” now he was confused.
“As you know everyone has od in them and one of the properties of od is how it attracts mana from the air. The more od one has the more mana their body absorbs and grows.”
That was interesting but that info seemed to contradict the other info. “But don’t we need spirit channels to absorb mana?”
“That we do but even those without open spirit channels can absorb mana but they would never be able to guide them to their diantian from where they would be able to utilise the mana present in their body.”
“The spirit channels also act like pipes and pathways for the mana to enter the body, while The amount of od one has just helps in attracting mana. If they do not have spirit channels their rate of absorption would be almost zero, though that does not mean that they do not absorb mana at all. In fact there are techniques which allows one to absorb mana directly without the use of spirit channels but that is quite dangerous.”
“Grandpa why is absorbing mana without spirit channels so dangerous?”
“That is because our spirit channels also act as purifiers and attune the raw mana to our body. Natural raw mana has many mutative properties and through it even normal plants and animals become magical beasts and gain many powerful and exotic abilities. Humans in the past who wantonly absorbed raw mana often gain curious powers but mutated into various creatures and beastmen like the cat-folks who have developed cat-ears, tails and claws or turned into mutative monsters like chimeras, vampires and even dragons.”
“That is so strange.”
“That it is and unrestraint absorption of mana without using spirit channels is never a good thing and with the amount needed to form a spirit ocean, they become even more important.” His grandfather said and Lin Long Yan now knew just why they were necessary.
“But that was not your question.” His grandfather continued, “Like I was saying everyone absorbs a bit of mana from the air due to their od attracting it and they release it back into the air via breathing and doing everyday work. Now that is the case for the normal humans and animals but mystical beasts due to the mana mutating their bodies instead of forming spirit oceans they form mana cores that generates mana by converting the creatures od into mana. Their very breath and movement creates mana and the more mana a magical beast has the more powerful it becomes.”
‘Well now that is a good explanation for why magical beasts exist in this world.’ Lin Long Yan thought as he was curious as to if there was even an explanation for the existence of magical beasts or not. Most cultivation books just skip why such beasts existed in the first place.
“In death the magical cores of the beasts crystallise to form powerful mana shards. These mana shards mutate the surrounding area and animals by saturating the land with mana and even transform metals and ores into magical metals. If the creature had being quite powerful than their mana shards would be powerful enough to still continue producing mana even long after their death and even transform normal metal ores into mana shards. We call these powerful mana producing shards ‘Heart Gems’ due to their blood red colour and their almost beating like a heart.”
‘Wait, are we leaving the wuxia genre and going full on western fantasy because that sounds eerily similar to some of the explanations for magical creatures and mana crystals in western fantasy.’ Lin Long Yan could not help but think of the mixture of explanation that his grandfather was providing.
“The world has so many of these powerful mana generating shards that they have created invisible streams of mana in the soil that span across the entire world. We call these streams ley lines and when the ley lines of one Heart Gem connect with the ley lines of another Heart Gem, they resonate and the amount of mana both Heart Gems produce increases exponentially almost a hundred times their original output. As such areas with more than one Heat Gem are often home to a variety of magical creatures and lots of mana shard mines, making them extremely dangerous but also very lucrative to venture in and explore these areas.”
“Can absorb the mana inside these mana crystals and Heart Gems?” Lin Long Yan asked curious if these mana shards acted like spirit stones like in traditional cultivation stories.
“Yes and some families have even acquired Heart Gems though they dare not move it from their original place in fear of disturbing their ley lines and affecting their resonance which is why many families have built their ancestral training grounds on top of the Heart Gems they have acquired. Though don’t thing that getting a Heart Gem is that easy, why the last expedition required to gain a heart gem of Black Steel Boar, one of the lowest heart gem one could find had to be headed by several martial experts and a force of ten thousand warriors to clear the area with less than half of them returning and only a quarter of the survivors were not crippled for life.”
That sounded quite dangerous and Lin Long Yan wondered just what kind of force and magical animals the expedition force had to face just to secure that heart gem. Still the dangers regarding the heart gem did not make him waver and instead ignited his fighting spirit and Lin Long Yan was eager to venture out in one of those forests and get some mana shards for himself who knows he might even find some heart gems.
“Does that mean our family has some heart gems?”
“Yes.” His grandfather said, “Remember the middle of the nen garden in the eastern wing of the estate?”
Lin Long Yan nodded after all there was no way he could forget that place, it was like real life ecology with two pyramids stacked on top of each other with the top pyramid stuck on top of the base pyramid upside down. Its walls were made of fine glass that reflected the sunlight inside its walls to provide light to all corners of the building and small fountains and waterways dotted the nen garden that provided water to the garden.
The beauty of the garden was further enhanced blooming flowers and trees growing inside the garden with the workers being in constant shift looking after the flowers and hauling carts full of fruits from the building. It was a building that provided almost 20% of total revenue that his family earn which was saying something considering the numerous assets that his family held.
“The reason why our nen garden is so successful is because it is located directly above a heart gem, and not just any heart gem but that of a nymph, powerful nature spirits whose mastery over the aspects of nature and plants is unmatched. Such great was her power over nature that it allows us to practically grow plants at a fraction of their actual growth rate, and allows us to grow a variety of magical plants and animals with no problem.”
That was something, a heart gem of a nymph, who according to the myths was almost like minor goddess of nature. No wonder the nen garden was such a thriving place with such a compactible heart gem. Still there was a small thing bugging him.
“Grandpa I have a question.” Lin Long Yan began and his grandfather gave him the go ahead, “Has anyone ever tried to put a live monster core inside a person? I mean having the ability to produce mana would be quite beneficial don’t you think.”
His grandfather grimaced at his question as he muttered something about being too smart for one’s own good. He seemed reluctant to answer it but in the end he did.
“Yes they have tried to do so but like I said mana has quite a lot of mutative properties and the monster cores implemented in a person while allows them to produce their own mana, it also mutates them to gain traits of the animal whose core they have been implemented.” His grandfather then waved his hands and a small blue mist formed around them and through the mist Lin Long Yan could see several images play by.
He saw a man having a glowing hole where his heart should be with blue-black veins sprouting from that hole and covering his entire body.
“That man was a slave that I met in my youth and he had been killed in a fight when he participated in an expedition. Instead of burying his body his master used it for experimentation and implanted in him the core of a black steel boar.”
The man’s body began to mutate as his face began to stretch and become more pig like with him gaining oversized tusk-like fangs, his shoulders growing broader and his body becoming more hunched and hairy.
“It was believed that monster cores often contained their will or spirit of the animal and this experiment all but proved it as the Steel Iron Boar was reborn inside the dead man and became a new being.”
The now boar like man squealed and howled as it began to speak their language in broken twisted grunts and howls as its eyes seemed to glow with wild unrestrained animalistic instincts but tempered by an intelligence that made it more malicious and evil in its bearings.
“The master of the slave was a man who was close to the emperor and he used his findings to create even more of these chimeric soldiers using the corpses of his slaves, until one day he used a live slave for his experiment and implanted inside that slave a live core of a three eyed monkey. The slave was a powerful warrior and had great mental strength and after the experimentation he said that the core was alive and still retained the hidden thoughts and intent of the three eyed monkey and fought for the control over his body.”
The images turned and Lin Long Yan could see how the man was slowly become more primal and more like the monkey with white hair replacing his natural black hair and a black mark forming on his forehead that looked like a closed eyelid.
“The man struggled for months on end till he was finally able to subdue to will of the three eyed monkey and gained control over the mana core but not without a price as he was almost turned into a monster with nothing but bare will and instincts.”
The image changed and this time it showed how the man, a once somewhat average guy had now more monkey like traits with long fang like teeth, fur covered arms and a long tail.
“The man did not just get the traits of the core but also gained unique powers that were associated with the three eye monkey and his growth as a cultivator skyrocketed as well. The man then used his influence to take his findings to the Emperor who allowed the man to continue his experimentations. The man was successful and then went on to create a legion for the emperor called the immortal beast corps that now serve as the one of the most feared warriors of the empire.”
That was not something Lin Long Yan had been expecting.
“What happened to the man after that?”
“The man then went on to procure a dragon core and implemented it in the third princess Sun Shanxiang. The princess though a warrior of great renown and a genius at cultivating was unable to supress the will of the dragon whose core she carried and was soon subsumed and turned into dragon-kin, a humanoid dragon.”
That was not good, “Did the dragon-kin do anything?”
“No.” his grandfather grimaced “The dragon-kin did not do anything and was instead quite grateful to the man and simply left the empire without causing any commotion.” His grandfather sighed as he seemed melancholic in that moment as if recalling some far off distant memory. Lin Long Yan did not need words to understand that the incident might have been quite personal to his grandfather.
Sun Shanxiang, the third princess was also a figure whose reputation was so great and was a beloved figure of the empire. So great was her reputation that even Lin Long Yan knew of it even after hundreds of years after her death.
“The man though was devastated by the incident. The third princess was loved by all and a beloved figure whom all the men and women of the empire adored and losing her like that was a major blow but to the man who had implemented the core it had a far greater impact. For he had loved the third princess dearly like a daughter and he had even engaged his son to her and her departure and what one could only be called death was a great blow to him.”
Lin Long Yan knew enough of his family’s history to know who that man had been and who that son had been, even before his grandfather revealed it.
“The man was my father Lin Que and I was Sun Shanxiang’s fiancé.”
Lin Long Yan knew that something had happened during his great grandfather’s time to strain the relationship between the royal family and his family and losing a beloved princess would no doubt turn things sour, no matter how misplace the anger and hate may have been.
“After that incident he was but a shell of man and soon passed away in grief and the Emperor forbade the practice of implanting monster cores into humans or at least the usage of monster cores that belonged to mystical monsters.”
Silence descended upon the two and the mood dampened a bit after that story.
“Seems like I went too far off topic and I can see that your enthusiasm is all but gone.” His grandfather said as he stood up “Let’s end here for today, we will continue early tomorrow.” And with the two of them left the garden and headed back to their rooms.
There was a lot of things that Lin Long Yan had learnt today and while he was not going to start his training he had learnt enough about the cultivation system of this world and was eager to learn more about it and most of all walk the path of an immortal.
