Looking up at the sky, I identified several constellations. Aquarise, Loe, and Virgo. Virgo, the pain hit me before I had time to react. Blood, lots and lots of blood. The memory hit me so deeply that I started shaking rapidly. ‘ Oh, my dear Virgo, where are you? ‘ it was the question I had asked myself ever since the death of him. People had always thought that my nickname for him, Virgo, was weird since he was my dad. He had been my whole life after mum had run away. He had been there when I wasn’t even there myself, he had been there to hold me when no one else would. I stood up. I brushed the broken branches and frozen leaves of my shirt and trousers, then I headed over to the apartment. I took the stairs not wanting to wake anyone, by the ring of the elevator. I also knew that if i got caught i might never be aloud out ever again. That was the rule for most citizens unless you needed exercise, your whole life would be inside. Pollution, it had taken over, all because the generations of people before me had not wanted to give the slightest thought in trying to help the world for future generations like myself. Anger rushed through, it was like a wave, it hit with such force but then just dissolved into nothing. It wasn’t their fault, they had never meant any harm. I reached the apartment that I was supposed to call home, but no place would ever be home without my dad. The pain hit me again, but this time i didn’t recoil into myself, this time i forced myself to think about where my dad might be. He had always believed that when you die your spirit floats out of your body and you just float around happily with no worries. I knew though that my dad was always floating around close to me wanting to protect me from a world he can’t and couldn't protect me from, it was something we both knew very well. I slipped inside the apartment and made my way to my room like I had every day for three months. I stripped down to my underwear and went to bed. I knew I wouldn't fall asleep until who knows what time, so instead I lay in the darkness, in the silence, waiting for the world around to go black so that my imagination with all it’s nightmares, and all it’s dreams, would envelope me into a world I would never die in: a world that wasn’t real.
When I woke up it was roughly seven in the morning, I unwillingly got out of bed. Walking to my closet I chose a cropped knitted sweater and a pair of light blue jeans, before putting on my clothes I walked to the bathroom to examine myself. I looked in the mirror, here was the girl that was declared overweight, the girl who had anxiety and had once suffered from depression, the girl who felt empty inside. I examined my face again. The blue eyes that never really could be identified as blue now grey, actually the eyes that never really were just one color. The nose that always looked like a button and the eyebrows that are maybe a little too big and lastly the lips that are too small for the rest of my face. I wouldn’t be called ugly but i definitely wouldn’t be called pretty nor beautiful either. I washed my face and then got changed. Heading into the dining room I saw that my spoiled little sister was sitting on the couch eating chocolate and popcorn while watching peppa pig surrounded by all her trophies and medals. ´´ Spoiled brat `` I mumbled under my breath.I walked into the kitchen where my foster parents were drinking coffee and talking.
´´ Aurora, good morning! How did you sleep, alright well do you mind taking out the trash and maybe writing to the council asking when they wanted to interview Sierra, ``
´´ Sure but could I maybe have some breakfast first? `` I asked as sweetly as possible of course I already knew the answer but it was always worth a try. ´´ No you may not have breakfast first, you shall do everything we just said then you may eat! `` she snapped back furiously.
´´ Sorry, `` I mumbled under my breath, adding a quiet bitch. While going to grab the trash, I heard my little sister complaining. I rolled my eyes. When I got outside I spotted the Hollows, ( the people meant to control our time outside) a tall man and a smaller boy at roughly my age.The taller one pointed over in my direction and started walking over. “ Hello mam, what are you doing outside,” he asked then added. “ Excuse me if this one, “ he pointed to the boy that stood beside him. “ is a little rude, it's his first day.” “ Oh, um no problem I was just taking out the trash,” I said holding up the rubbish bag for them to see. “ Very well then, you may be on your way then,” the taller one replied. They started to walk away. “ Wait, I actually have a question for you, why are you allowed outside, well the rest of us have to be stuck inside. If it’s so dangerous shouldn’t you also be inside or atleast have a type of mask on?”

“ Well, that is a good question, just give us two seconds,” replied the tall one again.
” Well actually... “ the shorter one started to say but before he could add anything he got a slap on the back of his head. “ Actually nothing,” the taller one replied hastily, with a look of disapproval in his eyes. They walked four to five feet away and then the taller one took a remote out from the left hand side of his belt. “ Sir we have a problem, a girl I’m guessing at the age of twelve or thirteen is curious, “ he spoke into the remote. “ Well then bring her in,” it crackled back. The moment I heard those words I was gone. I dropped the trash bag and dashed down the street as fast as my legs would allow me to. ( which I will say wasn't exactly lightning speed but was apparently fast enough). Behind me I heard a thud and looked over my shoulder, the boy had tripped the taller one up so he couldn’t go after me and was now running in the other direction. All this happened in less than 30 seconds, but if it wasn't for the invention of time would have felt like hours. When I finally did stop I looked around, I couldn’t see anyone around so I immediately felt safer then I realized where I was and I instantly became tense again. I was in Vadd-town, the uncontrolled part of the country, the area with no security, the area full of gangs and criminals. I looked around again, but this time to take in my surroundings. To my right there were just a couple of old and shaggy buildings, but on closer inspection were properly safer than out here. To my left was a forest which could provide shelter as a last source. In front of me and behind me was just what looked like an endless road. Checking my pockets I made my way to one of the old houses, or atleast what was left of it. In my pockets was some chewing gum, 50 dollars in cash, my phone and lastly my house keys. The first thing I did was smash my phone so no one could track me, then I threw my keys in the same place so that the electrical alarm wouldn’t go off if I entered someone's house uninvited. (Although I didn’t expect the houses to actually have alarms, but you never know). Then I looked through the window of the house. The interio was plain: three chairs, and a table, an old worn out couch and lastly a couple cabinets where the paint was peeling off. I was just adding a mental note to myself when I saw a figure enter the room. They looked like a he, by his slim character and short, shaggy hair that was differently in need of a wash. He went to one of the cabinets and took out something that in its shape and color resembled a beer can then he sat down on the couch and sipped the beer slowly. “ Shit!, “ I mumbled while crouching down so that I was out of his vision range if he decided to look over his shoulders. I again looked around to see if there was anything that could be a use to me, only now did I spot a bike. It was rusty and old but was just about the right size. So I slowly made my way over to it to see if someone or something would stop me, luckily there was no one around and apparently for now I had luck on my side because there was no lock in the bike. Jumping onto the saddle I pushed off the ground and started off in the opposite direction I had come from. My guess was that it was roughly 10.00 in the morning and that I was headed toward the crossover between the United States and Canada. After a while of hopeless thoughts and what if’s I finally thought about what might have happened to the boy that had helped me, I didn’t like to admit it but that boy had saved my ass. Apparently life could change.
