The Ghost in the Attic

The Ghost in the Attic

It was a peaceful day, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, people were talking, and vehicles could be heard on the road. Shino moved into a new house he had recently bought, and as he carried box after box, he felt exhausted from all the hard labour of carrying. While chugging down a bottle of water, he overheard some elderly women talking about the mysterious disappearances in the home he purchased and the strange noises coming from the attic. Shino felt a feeling of unease when he listened to them talking, but he ignored them and thought they were just old grandmas believing anything they heard. They were just silly, childish stories and rumours.

Shino wandered around the new house he had purchased, it was quite old and dusty, and cobwebs were in the corner of rooms, where spiders nested in their homes. Shino went to the kitchen, the floorboards creaking irritatingly loud with every step. Shino wondered if buying the house was a good financial decision. Though, the main reason he bought it was because it looked great for an average home and also because it was cheap. It never dawned upon Shino that HIS decision might've been a mistake. But now, there was no going back. Shino has to live with the burden of his decision.

As Shino arrived in the kitchen, he scanned around in case there was anything to take care of. Then, Shino spotted a cobweb in the corner of his eyes. He went to grab the broom to whack it. Then, Shino heard the sound of footsteps. Faint footsteps. Shino was a little unnerved. He walked slowly and as quietly as he possibly could to go investigate. He peeked around the edge of the kitchen wall. There was nothing. He breathed out in relief, his heart pounding like a drum due to the stress of fear. Then, Shino continued cleaning the house. Since that scary incident, Shino was way more confident that there truly was nothing unusual.

After he finished cleaning the house, he was putting away food in the fridge when he heard noises like a door creaking and something... heavy banging against a surface, like an earthquake almost. He slowly followed where the noises were coming from, which led him to the attic. He feared a bit but his confidence that it was just a fluke was strong. He was sceptical of his decision-making now. Maybe he was too scared? There wasn't much time to think. Shino walked further towards the attic. He pulled down the ladder. And his hands trembled with fear inciting inside him as he climbed up.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Then, at the top of the ladder, at the small attic door, he reached out his hand to climb into the attic, but he hesitated, remembering the conversation between the old ladies. In the end, he cautiously pulled himself up the attic, peeked his head first, and looked around in the dark. There wasn't anything unusual or strange at first, he saw just old furniture and forgotten boxes, so he went into the attic, looking around more clearly and observing if there was anything unusual, though the dark, unlighted nature of the attic didn't help. Then, he spotted something once he turned his head around. Before him, a very pale, horrendous figure appeared that sent chills down his spine. He felt the black, empty eyes of the ghost stare into his soul, he stepped back, almost stumbling. The sight was horrifying as it started crawling towards him abnormally, making weird noises.

At that moment, he felt a sense of dread, leaving him paralyzed, and then the figure crawled towards him at a fast speed. Then a giant, dark, grotesque creature emerged from the darkness, its appearance was almost unexplainable, it had a black aura around it, and it didn't have a solid figure, it was like a mist of black smoke.

The monster dragged the ghost away from Shino, the big claws scratching the ghost, and the ghost started making high-pitched screeches that could make your ears bleed. Shino frantically reached for the door behind him to escape, but it was locked shut.

The monster-like thing loomed closer, surrounded by ghosts. Sweats poured down his face as he desperately banged on the door, but it wouldn't open. Glancing back at the petrifying monster, ready to devour him, Shino felt a surge of panic, then... the creature lunged forward at Shino.
