Beginning in the late 19th century, for over a hundred years, the mafia was a term not to be used loosely. They hid within the shadows, controlled the governments as if they were mere puppets, only tools for amusement and their own personal gain. Many Families lived, spread throughout the regions of the world. While they always varied in size, goal, rules, strength and power over others, they all had one thing in common. This immense power that was the same in all Families – The Boss.
The Boss of a Family had many responsibilities: To lead others; to keep The Family alive and well; to protect what was theirs and to destroy those who dared harm them. The Bosses throughout the ages were powerful beings, not only in terms of intellect or connections, they were truly powerful in combat. The Bosses were feared as part of the strongest circles of humanity, possessing powers beyond many people’s wildest dreams. Many believed the age of the mafia would last for years to come as they continued to grow in power. No one could have ever thought that every Family would be wiped out by a mere 12 people in a mere 6 days.
The 12 Eyes Of Deceit was what they were commonly known as. They were hailed as powerful military soldiers, each one was said to be able to kill one thousand men armed to the teeth without so much as breaking a bead of sweat. They were a powerful final resort. These people were rumoured to possess unusual powers that gave them the name of The 12 Eyes Of Deceit. And under the orders of the highest powers of the world, they launched an attack on the mafia groups of the world.
Within 5 days of their strike, only three mafia groups remained. The most powerful groups, feared and respected across the globe as the bringers of the future. One of these Families was The Genciano Family. Hailed as an organisation greater than all the world's nations combined, they lasted against 8 of the 12 members for 5 days straight. A feat considered God-like due to many mobs being wiped out within a day by one member, maybe two if they were powerful enough. However, as the 6th day fell, the Boss called for a meeting between leading members of The Family, and it was there he announced his decision. A decision that would change the very course of history for the next generation. He ordered the disbandment of The Genciano Family.
While many outsiders considered him a coward for issuing such an order, the ones within The Family understood his plight and scattered throughout the land, their loyalty remaining as they hid beneath the surface of society. However, what they didn’t realise is The Boss had no plan to surrender and be used as a tool to trap his fellow members. The Genciano Family’s 5th Boss planned to fight.
He and his five most trusted companions stayed to combat the forces of The 12 Eyes Of Deceit, but The Boss had one more member of his Family to take care of. The one he would entrust the future of The Genciano to. His only son, Samuel Genciano. The only other one he trusted to take with him was a man more deadly than the proudest, sharpest bird that flew freely through the skies, dubbed Hawk by the Boss himself.
----------------------------------------
Despite the dire situation he was in, The 5th Boss was tickling his son and laughing as if he had his whole life ahead of him.
“Awwwwww. Who’s a strong little fighter? You are! Yes, you are lil Sammy. Roooar!” The Boss held his son above his head, enjoying his innocent giggles while putting on what can only be considered as the bravest face known to man for someone in his situation. As he continued to play with his adored son, Hawk watched from a distance, a solemn look on his face as he watched the man who helped him throughout his life share his last laugh with the child he loved to no end, knowing the fate that was about to befall him and his closest companions.
He wore a black suit with a white shirt with a black tie and the powerful aura he exuded didn't take away from his calming demeanour. He had messy black hair that seemed to defy gravity itself as it stood up in a spiky manner atop his head. Unlike most mafia members, he had no weapons attached to his belt or hidden on his person, he relied on himself and himself alone.. His face had a gentle expression as he stared at his only son, reliving the memories that he shared with the child.
“Quinto Boss… Are you sure you want to undergo this plan?” Hawk was a well-built young man, looking as if he were 16 or 17 years old at most, he wore a black suit with a yellow long-sleeved shirt beneath it along with a black tie falling from his collar. He wore a fully black fedora atop his face that covered his spiky hair which slightly covered his left eye. But his most noticeable features, were his blood-red irises, terrifying all who looked into them, making them feel like mere prey in the face of this predator. He carried a small dagger on his waist, however excluding this, he had no other weapon, while young, he was a powerful warrior and a well-trusted member of The Genciano Family. He had deep Italian roots, shown by his slight accent and he was growing a small moustache.

“Heh, still worried about me, eh? Don’t worry Hawk, this is what Fate has decided for me. If I turn tail and run now, they’ll hunt every member of my Family down to the ends of the Earth, eliminating everyone I love. My life in exchange for theirs. I feel like it’s a fair deal.” The 5th Boss slowly transferred his child into the arms of Hawk, who begin to cradle him as he yawned with a sound that could barely be registered by his ears.
“But Boss, you have a son. I doubt you’d ever leave your only son with a random family anywhere and hope he grows up right, nor do I think you’d burden someone as inexperienced as me with the task of raising him. Not only that, he has ties to the mafia, he won’t be able to live in peace forever Boss.” Hawk began arguing his points with a hushed voice, avoiding the waking of the young heir in his arms.
“You’ve grown sharp Hawk, you really have. I was planning to tell you this anyway, so let’s begin. You’ll drop him off with a nice family somewhere you deem safe and well enough for his growth, watch over him for a bit, then leave. Before you interrupt me, listen.” As Hawk was about to interject, he was seen through and immediately silenced. “Once you leave, I want you to train. Learn the ways of the world, as one of the world’s strongest up and coming Mafioso, I believe you can gain enough power to rival me in a little over 10 years. When he reaches the age of 16, I want you to do the most selfish thing I can ask of you, I want you to teach him. Teach him of his past, teach him the ways of living in such a blood-stained world while having him live his life. Teach him how to revive the era of the mafia, in his own image. The Genciano Famiglia will live on in this boy, I entrust the future of the world and our legacy to you two. I know this is incredibly selfish of me to ask this, for you to devote your life to such a cause, but please, I beg of you with all my might, please protect my child.”
The 5th Boss of The Genciano Family bowed his head, a single tear being shed from his eyes as he pleaded for the future of his child, to which Hawk merely smiled.
“Genciano Quinto, it would be my honour to undergo this mission, your intuition and planning has never failed us before, so I will raise your son to be the greatest Boss that ever roamed this land.” The red-eyed Mafioso knew the burden he would be bearing, but he knew even better the burden that his Boss was feeling, to leave his beloved son alone in this world, no mother, no father, all to protect the lives of many others. The path The Genciano face was always a tough one, however, this choice would tear any normal man apart. The strength of a Boss was truly immense. After this touching speech, the 5th Boss of the great Genciano Family and Hawk sat down to discuss the plan in further detail, both trying to push the inevitable departure out of their minds. However, after an hour and a half, a loud explosion erupted from the rooms below, signalling the time for the end of their small chat. The Boss stood up before facing the young Mafioso who was once again cradling the heir to The Genciano.
“Hawk, I entrust the future of my child to you, I know you are capable of such a feat. You are a powerful Mafioso and will one day become an even stronger teacher.” He then kneeled to his son’s level and looked at his peaceful face. “And to you Samuel, I apologise dearly for what I’ve done to you. You could’ve had a much more peaceful life if it weren’t for me. I’m sorry. But, I trust that you’ll become powerful, unbelievably powerful. You can lead us into a new era, one where the mafia live on, one where all under you are guarded from harm. Good luck, Genciano Sesto. Good luck, my son.”
The 5th Boss then proceeded to leave the room, striding gracefully to meet his allies in the final battle against those who dared to threaten his Family. He left one more message as he left. “Goodbye, my friend. Goodbye, my son.”
Hawk took this as an opportunity to escape the building, running through the surrounding forest with the young child in his arms, wrapped in a baby blue blanket that would be the last item that his father would ever give to him. As he looked back at the now burning HQ, he left one more message before running further into the seemingly endless night.
“Goodbye, Boss. Goodbye, Genciano. Until a new age comes forth, I will wait.” With these last words stated, he departed for the great world where the child in his arms would grow in, the world where a new generation would shift the world’s era once more.
