Taboo?

After examining the body the three men exited the bathroom, no one would feel comfortable with such a bizarre body.

"The time of death was within three hours," said the burly man, looking up from the pocket watch in his hand, "which means between 2am and 5am."

"How can you be sure of the time?"

Glancing at the innocent woman who asked the question, the strong man told her the time and order in which they had arranged the vigil and handed her the pocket watch, which showed that the timer had been counting for exactly seven hours.

Aoiz's next shift was the middle-aged man, and the fat man off duty was woken up by urine and found the dead middle-aged man when he went to drain the water.

At this point the fat man shivers and gets up, asking why the middle-aged man is dead. The burly man sighs and pulls the bathroom door shut, and the group returns to the sofa near the fireplace.

As a newcomer, Aoiz barely said anything; he was always listening and analysing, making points mostly from the most senior strong man and the woman with the mole on her lip.

Through the information revealed in the discussion, Aoiz knew that in this world, there was no such thing as being killed for no reason, and the person killed must have touched some taboo.

And the so-called taboo was most likely the key clue to crack the mission.

"What exactly did he do that we didn't do?" The male clerk shrank between Aoiz and the innocent woman, obviously terrified, he didn't want to die unaccountably like the middle-aged man.

The innocent female frowned her good-looking eyebrows and spoke, "Could it be because he went to the bathroom on the ground floor, where is the hidden taboo in this mission, and anyone who has been there will die?"

"No way," Fatty crouched in place, hands on his knees, and whispered, "But I've been to the bathroom too, just yesterday when I was searching the living room."

Aoiz turned his head to look at Fatty, and after a long time said, "Then you should be careful, although your neck is thick, you should still be able to break it by breaking it with force."

The fat man almost cried out at his words.

The strong man seemed to be a bit dissatisfied with Jiang Cheng's attitude, but still didn't say anything, just shook his head and said that it shouldn't be possible, several of them had almost all been to the bathroom on the ground floor, and if something happened it shouldn't be just the middle-aged man alone.

"Maybe it's just in order?" The woman with the mole on her lip smiled wryly, "You should understand that ghosts rarely kill one after another in a short period of time."

The strong man gave the woman a hard stare, but in a rare move did not retort.

"Is there really one of those things ......"

Aoiz's long-held suspicions were confirmed, the door that had appeared in the dream world undoubtedly belonged to the category of supernatural events, and it seemed reasonable for ghosts to appear in supernatural events.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"So the thing we need to fight against in this world isn't a person, it's a ghost?!" The male clerk was so frightened that his face was bloodless.

Given his previous performance, no one would even bother with him.

"Since someone died, that means this villa is our destination, the so-called journey doesn't exist, that car only appeared to get us here," the innocent woman looked around, "it's this villa that has the problem."

"What could be wrong with the villa?"

The innocent woman stared at the fat man who asked the question and said after a long time, "Let's say that some vicious incidents have happened here before."

The villa looked quite luxurious and there were no signs of damage inside, so it was indeed suspicious that it had been abandoned for no apparent reason, and Aoiz felt that what the innocent woman said was still more believable.

The strong man walked to the villa door, grabbed the door handle and pulled hard, but the door did not move at all.

"It's locked," said the strong man without even trying a second time, turning his head, "It seems this is the right place for the mission, and we can't leave until we decipher what had happened inside this villa."

"Now that we've identified the mission location, let's all spread out and look for clues, it's already dawn now and there shouldn't be any danger."

Having said that, the death of the middle-aged man was still a wake-up call to the crowd, especially the three newcomers, Aoiz, Fatty, and the male clerk.

To speed up efficiency, several people spontaneously grouped themselves together, with one old man leading one newcomer.

The fat man followed the strong man, the male clerk followed the woman with the mole on her lip, and Aoiz and the innocent woman were grouped together.

For safety's sake, the search area was fixed on the ground floor of the villa for the time being.

The strong man's group covered the living room and the area around the door, the woman's group covered the remote store room, while Aoiz and the innocent woman went to the kitchen and dining room.

The groups were within sight of each other in a straight line so that they could look out for each other should anything happen.

This time, with previous experience, the search was more thorough and careful.

Half an hour later, the three groups rejoined in front of the fireplace and it was thoroughly light.

"This is what we found in the depot," said the woman with the mole on her lip, holding out a very thick rope, a piece of twine, one section of which had a blinding red colour on it.

The strong man took it and rubbed it hard twice, then put it under his nose and sniffed it, "It's blood," he looked up at the woman.

The woman nodded, "It was right behind a pile of firewood and I picked this up nearby."

She opened her right hand, and in her palm was a pale green brooch, in the shape of a maple leaf, giving the impression that the owner of the brooch would have been a gentle girl.

Once a girl had been tied up in the depot.

"What have you found?" The woman looked to the strong man.

"Come with me and see, you guys," the strong man said and walked towards the door, the group following behind him.

Standing by the door, the strong man fumbled and pressed a spot on the wall, and Aoiz's eyesight was good enough for him to see that it was a light blue button.

The button was embedded in the painting by the door, blending in with the sky-blue background picture, and was hard to spot without looking closely.

As the button was pressed, a gap opened in the wall to the right of the door, which then slowly opened to reveal a very well-hidden built-in shoe cupboard.

There are three levels in the shoe cupboard, except for the third, which is still intact, but the partition between the first and second levels is broken, and all kinds of shoes are mixed together.

After sorting, there are two pairs of men's leather shoes, one pair of women's red high heels, and three pairs of women's casual shoes in front of them.

The woman with the mole on her lip picked out another pair of loafers from the 3 pairs and placed them next to the red heels, "These two pairs of shoes should belong to the same person."

The remaining 2 pairs of loafers clearly belonged to a younger girl and the two pairs were identical in size.

On the third floor lay a pair of men's sneakers, which, after comparison, differed more in size from the men's leather shoes.

"As it stands this cottage once housed a family of four, the male owner, the female owner, and a girl with a boy," the innocent woman said looking up, "which would also match the distribution of the bedrooms on the first floor, a master bedroom belonging to the male and female owners, as well as a girl's bedroom, and a boy's bedroom ."
