Chapter 43- Hearing Voices

The expression on Renxiang's face changed slightly, and even though she looked calm Yang Su’s words still angered her.

She then said, “No, I was trying to go easy on you since you were the second prince’s assistant, but from your attitude, I see now that it was my mistake to do so in the first place.”

Upon saying that, Renxiang completely turned around and started to form several more hand seals once again.

The disciples below saw this and started to get excited to see more of Renxiang’s Divine Ability.

“This brat really doesn’t know what’s good for him, he actually went ahead and pissed off senior sister Renxiang. He’s completely done for now.”

Renxiang finished her hand signs quickly and then pointed at Yang Su.

Previously, she had used 40% of her power so she could quickly end this battle, but seeing that Yang Su was able to withstand her Divine Ability at that power, she upped it up to 80%. She no longer cared for offending the second prince, being looked down on by this little brat who can only rely on outside help was something she could not stand for.

As Renxiang pointed at Yang Su, a terrifying power suddenly emerged from her delicate frame and the Wind Spiritual Qi on the entire stage danced around frantically.

‘Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!’

A massive windstorm more powerful than before appeared on the stage.

Yang Su in the middle of this thought to himself, ‘Oh, so she was holding back? I guess that’s why her attack from before felt so weak... Then perhaps should I hold back as well?’

As Yang Su was thinking that to himself, the terrifying windstorm completely engulf him, and this time everyone looked towards him with pity, but they guess he shouldn’t have been so arrogant.

However, all the spectating disciple's expressions suddenly turned to one of stupefaction as a raging fire serpent about forty meters long appeared out of nowhere and completely shattered Renxiang’s Divine Ability like it was a little breeze.

Everyone then watched wide-eyed as this blazing hot serpent suddenly vanished from one side of the stage to appear on the other side in front of Renxiang.

Renxiang was equally stunned to see the appearance of this beast and was totally caught off guard by its blinding speed.

She tried to retreat but she was already at the edge of the stage. She then tried to cast her Divine Ability again, but the serpent's attack reached her in no time and slammed into her violently.

Her figure was then sent flying off the stage while she coughed out a mouth full of blood in mid-air.

The crowd watched in slow motion as Renxiang's figure slowly fell to the ground below the stage.

All the disciples were completely speechless and their brains couldn’t even comprehend what they had just witnessed.

On the ground Renxiang slowly raised up to stare at Yang Su on the stage and choked out, “Y-you…”

However, her words were cut short as she coughed up another mouth full of blood before her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she fainted.

In stunned silence, the crowd’s gaze moved from Renxiang to Yang Su on the stage.

Yang Su’s expression at this time was completely blank.

After a while, his expression slowly became apologetic as he said, “I-I didn’t mean to attack her so viciously, I was even holding back.”

When everyone heard Yang Su’s words, they all looked at him with strange expressions.

Suddenly, a voice sounded from the crowd, “You bastard!! How can you be so shameless as to use a sneak attack?! Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be an Inner Disciple!”

The male Outer Disciple who said that was one of Renxiang’s admirers. Looking at his ugly expression one could see that his dislike for Yang Su was indescribable.

And he wasn’t the only one in the crowd, several more disciples started shouting similar things.

One side of the crowd was now enraged that Yang Su had used a sneak attack to beat Renxiang, but the other half was silently pondering the power displayed by Yang Su a moment ago.

“Hey that attack from before, wasn’t that the Divine Ability from the Golden Fire Serpent cultivation method?”

“What?! Do you mean that cultivation method that was rumored to have killed its users who were training in it?! How is it possible for that pill-popping brat to cultivate that deadly technique? Are you sure you're not mistaking it for some other fire-type cultivation method?”

“No, he’s right, that Divine Ability the second prince’s assistant just used was from the Golden Fire Serpent cultivation method. If you're still not convinced, then name another fire-type cultivation method that allows the user to summon a fire serpent as its Divine Ability?”

The disciple who had refused to believe that Yang Su had indeed cultivated the Golden fire Serpent cultivation method had to close his mouth, he was unable to think of an answer.

“Exactly, it's that very cultivation method. That kid most likely reached the 4th stage out of its 8 stages to have used its signature Divine Ability.”

“Then does that mean we were wrong about him using pills to reach his cultivation level? The reason why people died while cultivating this technique is that one’s Qi would get so hot that when trying to open meridians in the Meridian Opening Realm, there is a chance that the Fire Qi would burn and destroy someone's meridians. So how could he have opened so many of his meridians if he cultivates that technique?!”

“I don’t know, but one thing for sure is that even if he had used a sneak attack on senior sister Renxiang, she shouldn’t have been beaten so easily. Using one move to beat senior sister Renxiang? Remember, the person is our talented senior sister Renxiang who could even be compared to those from the Seven Major Clans. There’s no way she should have been beaten so effortlessly by that kid given her strength.”

As one-half of the crowd condemned Yang Su for using a sneak attack, the other half started reevaluating their opinion of him. Fu Wei as well as looking at Yang Su awkwardly walking off the stage with suspicion in his eyes.

‘Who is this kid? He just came out of nowhere with such outstanding talents. It’s as if someone had… ’

Fu Wei didn’t finish that thought and only rubbed his right arm.

He then took a casual glance towards Xi Shen who was wearing an indifferent expression before he looked away.

Fu Wei had his suspicions about how Yang Su was showing such tremendous talents, and it all centered around his brother.

However, he chose not to think about it any further.

The truth is, somewhere at the back of Fu Wei’s mind there was a part of him that feared his little brother.

He feared the possibility of him taking back what he had given to him that day.

He assumed that Xi Shen had no knowledge of that ever happening since he was just a few hours old back then, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was strange.

Fu Wei wanted his father’s throne and everything that comes with it, and he knew that his brother had no desire for it. However, that wasn’t up to him to decide. If their father deemed him to be a better candidate for becoming Emperor, then Fu Wei had no doubt that their father would strip away his title as the Crown Prince and give it to his little brother.

He would never let that happen, but at the same time, that fear and apprehension at the back of his mind prevented him from doing anything to Xi Shen unless he was left with no other choice.

But until then, he’ll play the part of a big brother.

‘NO!! I have to kill him, how else would the throne become mine? I need to completely get rid of any possibility of losing it!’

‘No! I’m his older brother, no matter what, killing him just to get the throne isn’t something I should even consider.’

‘KILL HIM AND GET THE THRONE!!’

‘NO! WHY WOULD I KILL HIM HE’S MY BROTHER!’

‘KILL HIM!!’

‘NO!’

‘KILL HIM!!!’

‘no!..’

‘KILL HIM!!!!…’

“Argh!…”

Fu Wei suddenly let out a groan before clutching his head in pain.

Xi Shen who was next to him quickly turn to him to see the multicolored plum blossom shining on his forehead through his palms.

The sixth and last color, which was black, was slowly starting to appear on the plum blossom.

Seeing this, Xi Shen thought to himself, ‘It’s blooming quicker than I thought. The current time isn’t exactly ideal, should I slow it down a bit?’

Reaching over to his brother, Xi Shen’s golden pupils gained a tinge of orange as he tapped him on his shoulder while asking in a concerned tone, “Elder brother, are you okay?”

Fu Wei, who heard the voices in his head suddenly calming down, looked up to see Xi Shen looking at him with a concerned expression on his face.

“I-I am fine little Shen. I just need to return to the Palace and meditate for a while.”

After saying that, Fu Wei’s figure quietly vanished from his seat as he used Spatial Teleportation.

After Fu Wei left, Xi Shen’s concerned expression fell from his face before he turn around and slumped back into his chair, the same indifferent expression playing on his face.
