It was tense, the atmosphere around us was filled with bloodthirst, my senses were so concentrated the bloodthirst was palpable.

The flaming abomination, the humanoid figure stood, flames flickered off its body as it merged with its surroundings. Another part of the dojo crumbled to the flames, the pillar creaked as they stood out against the raging flames.

With my Naginata forward and my katana in shatters beside me, I stood firm. The being must not pass, as the eldest brother, I have a duty to fulfill. The flaming figure stood, its amber eyes flared with only hatred and anger, a being I could only guess was birthed by the unholy flames of hell. It stood nonchalantly, it's blazing sword in its hand.

A voice ringed within my head, a whisper, yet so clear,

'Your family is dead'

I swear I could see the flaming being smirk as it cocked its head and lightly fiddled with the handle of its blade. I still stood, my body firm upon the ground. The beings face contorted into a frown,

'Leave mortal, I only seek the others, let us and you shall live'

I stood there like a mountain, grounded and firm, the unwillingness to move burned even stronger.

'I see' it whispered. A gaping maw of flame emerged from its face, spewing flames as it spoke it said, "Then you shall perish"

It raised its flaming sword, and my muscles twitched, sweat covered my face as the feeling of dread that came from the flaming being became larger and larger. The fire from the surrounding area started to twitch at its movement, soon the flames were ripped away and started to swirl around the sword like a hurricane. No longer was the heat of the fire burn around me, but now the flaming sword burned with a transcendent white glow.

I stood there in fear, awe and utter surprise. My mouth hung open in surprise as the Naginata that I had gripped was loosed. It uttered one word as gouts of flames spewed from its mouth,

"Perish."

And everything became white.
