1CH-updated: a Lost day

Jason couldn't believe his eyes, a blue portal swirled in the water below what the book had said was true.

He stood there for a moment in stunned silence then stepped into the pond.

A Day 1 Earlier

The room was full of books waiting for him to get his hands on them for a price. The room he was in was the newest in the bookstore that had opened a week earlier. He would have had been there on opening day but he was too busy with Games and web novels last week to do so. Most anything with magic, he be playing it or reading most of the time. His job at the local fast-food joint did cut that time down by a lot but it was important to have the money to live or that was what his sad excuse for a brother said. He had been living with his brother sense high school, but all his brother seems to do was work.

In normal times he been happy about this but after high school his brother laid down the law which was work and give me half. At first, he had thought he was joking but after threatening to kicking him out, he realized it was no joke. He quickly got a job and did what he asked but hated his brother for doing so. He had always loved the idea of magic and now he was going to find a book about it and forget about his stupid brother.

Looking again around the room he still was surprised at what he saw the shop was chuck full of books to the point there was books laying in piles next to the shelves. Looking closer some of the piles were all the same book brand new while other piles were all different books but old books. He decided his best bet was to search for old books bit light glowed out of the corner of his vision.

He quickly turned to it, but the glow was gone but he did find single book sitting on the table. He walked up to it and read the cover "How to Find Lost Things". The letters of the title were made with gold leaf and the book cover was soft green leather. He was curious because most books nowadays are built with more modern materials. He opened the book cover looking for the page that normally would tell when said book was published and printed. Pause for moment when he found it didn't have such a page realizing that this book was probably one of a kind. He decided to give the book a try.

Jason slammed the book shut when he read his name in the book, it had be some prank. He was about to set the book down and leave it when a voice rang from behind him "Hey Jason you made". He turned to old man who was in fact one of his only true friends. "Jack, I didn't know you had opened a bookstore I thought you retired". Short beard man smiled "I did, but no one said how long need to retire for" walk over to Jack. "I see you got my present, I know you prefer books that already have stories in them, but I thought it’s about time you got to writing your own story"

"Jack, I really don't have time with my job, and this book already has stuff written in it see" Jason retorted show him the page he just read. "Boy!! stop trying get out something out of nothing" he pause for a moment before continuing "and I for one believe that you make good writer" Jack slap him on the back and went toward the back of the shop begin sorting books. Jason looked at the page, it was blank then letter by letter the words he had read before slowly appeared again on the page.

He did best to contain himself “Thanks, Jack I am going do something with this book, OK”

The old man just raised his hand waving him to just go knowing full-well by his tone that he happy with his present.

Jason bolted out of the bookstore and crossed the street, horns and brakes sounded as he shot across the road barely missed getting run over by a truck. The truck driver yelled something at him, but Jason didn’t care and didn’t even hear him as he ran straight for the local park. He was sure he found something amazing “it had to be” right thought to himself. He muttered “magic” as he sat on his favorite bench that had blue griffins engraved in the arms of the black stain wooded bench. He took a deep breath and opened the book hoping to prove what he wished was always true, that magic was real.
