(Guys, when I say the word “people” I’m talking about not just the humans but the other species and races as well. Beastmen, elves, dwarves, orcs, etc as other words does not fit well. Example: organisms, species, living beings.)
We were standing outside the shop while staring at the pedestrians walking at a lost on what to do.
“Wow, I never expected for us to finish that fast.” My father said while having a big smile on his face.
It probably only took around thirty minutes since we arrived at this town and we have already found what we were looking for, we were initially expecting that we would finish after an hour or two as the bull’s blood is pretty rare even in this kinds of villages and now if look closely at how long the shadows projected by the objects around us, we can deduce that it is only around 8 or 9 o clock in the morning.
“I never expected for you to be that happy just because we finished earlier than expected.”
“How can a kid like you possibly know how rare is it for us able to visit towns like this and most of the time we’re either trading or going here for some business.”
“Why? Can’t you guys just visit whenever you want to? Our village is not that far from here, even if you try to travel back and forth it would not have much on an impact on your jobs.”
“Look at this kid, he looks like a great scholar with all the knowledge he has.” He was saying all of these things while having that sarcastic tone while also dragging me towards the nearest weapon shop.
“Hey! What’s wrong with what I’m saying, it’s not like I’m wrong or something, besides why are you dragging me!” my voice was pretty high pitched while saying this and the people around us were giving us weird looks.
“Haven’t you been curious as to why the roads connecting the different villages only have dirt roads but never have paved roads like the roads on this village or some parts of our village?”
“Is it because it’s too expensive to build a road between the villages? And what is the relevance of that to the topic?”
“No, it is relevant to the topic. If the villages could be connected by paved roads then even if it’s expensive the different villages would still build it as it would better facilitate the trade of goods and information better which would also result in an increase in productivity and increase of revenues. The reason why they would not build those paved roads is because it will only get destroyed as soon as it’s created.”
“And why is that?”
“It’s because the roads that we traverse going to the different villages usually has different kinds of dangerous beasts around them throughout the whole year, except for the first and the last days of the month, which is currently today and tomorrow. A lot of those beasts usually have hulking bodies which leads to them destroying anything they tread upon including building and roads and those beasts are the main reason why we rarely leave the village, it’s perilous to travel when those beasts are around, they are strong and fast, and there are a lot of them making it hard to even sneak up to them.”

“Why do they disappear on the first and last days of the month then?”
“That we do not know, countless years have passed and no one has ever been able to prove or even get a clue as to why that happens, some says that maybe those beasts perform a ritual at that specific time, some says that they are sleeping, who knows what they are doing or why they disappear at those times, but for the past thousands of years, there has never been a time where they did not disappear at the first and last days of the month.”
Hearing this I could only confirm that this world is more and more mysterious.
We browsed around thirty different shops before we decided to return back to our village, at nearly the end of us visiting the shops I found a bookstore where I found a book about the basics and foundations of using magic and a short history of it.
I have actually been trying to search for a book in our house or borrow one from our neighbours to no avail except for a thin book of forty pages thick entitled as the “The Fenas” which apparently is the name of this part of the continent, I was able to borrow it from a neighbour who only received it as a gift, it includes a short history of this place as well as the most common animals, plants, minerals cultures and races living on this side of the continent.
I’ve had to beg my father nonstop for about ten minutes saying that maybe he can gift it to me as a birthday present since I turned four before he bought it for me, I really wanted this book because since I was a kid I’ve been dying to see and use magic even if it’s just a simple one.
After the bought the book, we immediately set out for our village, we already had all the materials and I’m also excited to see what will happen when I receive my first tattoo.
As we were returning home, we were able to hear a few voices from a distance shouting and cursing at one another.
“Hide quickly!” My father hurriedly said in a small but commanding voice while pulling me towards the nearest bushes in order to hide. “Just stay quiet, although we are not directly involved in this, if we just leave we might get involved if we are to be discovered so we might as just try to stay hidden and leave when we get the opportunity.”
I quickly nodded after hearing this as the people arguing looks like there are a lot of them and we definitely would not be able to fend them off with only the two of us.
“How dare you people try to rob us!”
“Hehe, we are very sorry sir but we are only following the orders.”
As I was curious as to whom the ones involved are, I took a quick peek from the bushes only to see that the ones who is apparently getting robbed are the avian beast men I saw from the auction site.
