The year 2077
Month of January
In the Skies of the northern sector of Tokyo Area, a CH-165 Chinook Hellicopter could be seen flying deep into ememy territory. It maintained a height of one Kilometre where most flight type enemies didnt usually reach.
By enemy here we mean the monsters that almost wiped out humanity.
As the large hellicopter flew beside it a squadron of five Apache H-17 Night Hawks was on guard, shooting down any stray monsters that emerged. Although they would be helpless if a big one showed up.
The convoy flew over a devastated lanscape. Once tall buildings were razed to the ground. Shining cars were now nothinh but heaps of rust. The broken down houses, the cratered roads all were covered by nature making a huge jungle.
After About an hour of flying, the convoy finally reached its destination.
A small outpost on the L.O.C. ; acronym for “Line Of Control”. This was the first line of defence against any major monster attacks on Tokyo Area. There were twelve such outposts surrounding the City.
The outpost was basically a large underground Bunker surrounded by a field of antimaterial mines. Its roof was a large flat surface which served as a hellipad. After the pilot contacted the outpost on radio, he was given permission to land.
The Apache squadron too landed however the pilots remained on alert activating their radars for any possible attacks.
The doors of the Chinook opened and a group of soldiers clad in green-brown uniforms and thick armour of stab and bullet proof material holding advanced versions of M4-Carbines and M249-Saw machine guns came out checking the surroundings. After them a young man in his early twenties who had a small smile on his face emerged out of the machine.
“So this is it huh? Jeez....he sure made It hell for me to find him...”
He sighed as he advanced followed by the group of guards.
There was only one opening on the roof. A small elevator shaft. The one metre thick doors opened and the group of men walked in. After a minute of descending the doors opened again revealing the interior of the bunker.
It was made up of thick walls and divided into many sections. So the space inside was quite narrow. The place was cold and damp.
(How does he live here....Such a gloomy place)
A single long corridor streched across the two ends of the rectangular bunker branching at a few points into still shorter ones. It was dimly lit by few LED lamps on the ceiling. As the group kept walking across the dimly lit corridor, they came upon the “Command Centre”.
“*Ahem*, will the outpost commander please open up?”
The thick metallic doors made to stop monsters incase of a perimeter breach slowly opened. Inside a secene completely different than the outside atmosphere greeted the men.
The room was quite spacious, about ten by ten metres. At one side a door marked “Control Room” was visible and some other doors leading to the Kitchen, Restroom, Commander’s residence etc were present. All in all it was a small apartment. The room in front of them was basically a reception area.
“You all stay here. Kaito and Yosuke with me. Lets go.”
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
““Yes sir!””
At the orders of the young man two soldiers entered with him while the rest just stood outside ready for any threat.

“What do you want?”
A emotionless cold voice asked the question. The owner was the commander who had who had arrived in the room just now. He was the lone person in this entire outpost.
“Neo---”
One of the two soldiers, Kaito muttered but stopped it midway.
For the commander of this base was one of them.
The ultimate weapon of humanity. The ones who had saved the race from extinction.
In other words, a Neo human.
“How do you do? Commander its a pleasure to meet you I am called Major Kazehiko Soma from Internal Affairs.”
The young man introduced himself with a smile. He was decent looking and had short brown hair and hazel eyes. His skin was light hued and overall he could be called handsome.
“Stop with your disgusting pretenses. Why are you here?”
A boy younger than the man; about 17 years old asked in his characteristic cold voice. Hatred could be felt from his every word. He had silky black hair and a pair of heterochromatic eyes; one auzure blue and the other crystaline red. His skin almost deathly white and his feminine features made him very attractive for both the sexes. However the aura which he gave off was like a predator would make people tremble at his sight.
The man, Soma flinched a bit but quickly regained his senses and continued.
“Sorry if that offended you....I am here on behalf of Admiral Yoshimizu Haruto”
After hearing his words the commander or the boy stopped giving off such pressure.
“Sit...”
He directed towards a sofa. Soma obidientky sat down while the soldiers kept watch from the door side.
As the boy sat down Soma continued.
“Let me skip to the point. The Defence department want you to---”
“Cut the nonesense”
Even before Soma could finish his words he was rejected.
“Get out of here before i throw you out. The presence of you dogs of the government disgusts me...”
“Why you!?”
Kaito the soldier angrily approached him. Soma was a high level officer and a mere outpost watchman was insulting him. But befor he could do anything,
“Do you think you can beat me soldier?”
The cold voice made him tremble. Those words were spoken in a matter of fact manner. Kaito was a human. The boy in front of him was not. He was a monster who shared the blood of monsters in his veins.
“Tch...”
Clicking his tongue he backed away.
“Then be off I have nothing more to say...The exit is that way”
“Please stop!”
As he was begining to return to his room, Soma hurriedly stopped him.
“Please read this before you make any descision.”
He passed a white envelope to the boy. He took it. Soma gave a weak smile.
The boy glared at him in hatred and then began reading the letter.

To Captain Yatogami Hakuya,
If you are reading this then I, most probably am dead. I am writing this letter to you only under dire circumstances. I know what you have gone through. For me who has seen the fate of your team it is really hard to ask for your help. I know you have given your everything to this country and were betrayed by it. Still this shameless me is asking.
In my absence, please Take command of my fleet. The young ones who have been recruited recently will need guidance. If you will use your skills and lead them in my place, then i believe that they will be the best of the best. Just like you were back then.
You can hate me if you want. Curse me for trying to use you. But if you ever considered me a friend as i have considered you, please....
From your friend.
“Admiral Yoshimizu Haruto”
* * *
As the boy read the letter a small drop of tear dripped down his cheek.
“How?”
He asked in a low voice to Soma.
“Admiral Haruto crossed the great divide one month ago. His vessel was....sunk by a A-class, he..... refused to leave the ship till his last breath......”
“.......”
Hakuya was silent. He closed his eyes. Haruto was one of the last few ‘friends’ he had left. They had spent nice and hard times together back in his time in the Navy. And now he was gone.
“I am really sorry...”
Soma bowed. Hakuya opened his eyes and folded the letter and kept it in his pocket.
“.....Give me thirty minutes....”
He left to pack his stuff. While smiling a melancholic smile.
“Damn you Haruto....even in death you keep pestering me...just like you always did.....fine...as your friend i will do It...My way that is...”
And so after thirty minutes a Chinook with one more person and two soldiers less ;who had been temporarily assigned to man the outpost; headed for Tokyo.
